What brand Tungsten do you use? 2024

fishing user avatarMike L reply :

Between Fathers Day and my birthday I've been getting a bunch of gift cards from Bass Pro. Since I was getting low on my supply of weights I used them all up on Strike King tungsten. I was tempted to pick up thier brand but didn't.

Just curious, what do you guys like or doesn't it matter?

Thanks

Mike

fishing user avatariabass8 reply :

I buy most from alley's tungsten. Big box wise ill take eco pro. Not crazy about SK weights.

The only tungsten I have are a bunch of jigheads I got, dirt cheap. I never drank that flavor of koolaid.

fishing user avatarillinifan4152 reply :

Most of mine is either strike King, that I got on clearance from Walmart for $3-4 a pack or from siebert outdoors. Great prices and an awesome guy to do business with.

fishing user avatarJar11591 reply :

I get all my tungsten from Siebert Outdoors. They have every size you could need, and I have been using them for 3-4 years and have not had one cut my line.

fishing user avatarDarren. reply :

Tried Strike King for bullet weights, but
I prefer using lead Bull Shot for TX rigging.

As for drop shotting, I do see a difference
using tungsten in terms of sensitivity.

Just got my order from Siebert, the quality
is top notch, don't have to pinch the line
holder in order to keep it attached as I've
had to do with "cheap" tungsten brands.

So another cheerio for Siebert.

I was pretty reluctant making the switch for the cost, but Massachusetts lead ban kind of forced my hand to start transitioning some of my stuff. Doubt I will ever go back now. A 3/4 ounce tungsten weight is the same size as some of the 1/4 ounce steel weights I had been using in place of lead.

Bass Team Tackle is where I got a really good deal.

I wish my Walmart would drop the price on ours down to $3-4. They have about 20 packs of 4 in 3/16oz all on the clearance rack marked $5ea. :(

I haven't had any issues with the Strike King. I have ECO brand as well with no issues.

fishing user avatarwisconsin heat reply :

seibert is where i got my last batch. Really great quality, Price is extremely competitive, and you can buy however many you want. I have some SK ones left over from clearance bins and they are good too. But I will probably only buy tungsten from seibert in the future,

fishing user avatarRyneB reply :

I was a strike king or bps brand guy. Then I started using Reins. I sold all my SK an bps an invested in all Reins. I have yet to find anything better.

fishing user avatarKtho reply :

For bullet weights all ive ever tried is Vike and they work well enough not to try anything else. I'd imagine it doesnt matter much.

fishing user avatarBassThumb reply :

My last couple purchases were from Alley's tungsten, and the product is plenty good at an affordable rate. I never once had my line sliced with the insert-free weights.

My next purchase will be from Seibert because they have significantly better prices and they're a BR sponsor.

fishing user avatarBluebasser86 reply :

Bulk order from China. It's super cheap per unit if you can afford to drop a few hundred on tungsten to meet the minimum order (or get a group of buddies to go in together like I did).

The local shop has good prices too if I need something in a pinch.

fishing user avatarJon G reply :

Sieberts. Cheap and great quality couldn't be any happier

fishing user avatarprimetime reply :

I have been buying mine in bulk which are scuffed up seconds from a few different companies and guys online are selling 1.5 ounce weights in 10 packs for $30, 6-1 oz for $12.99, and I scored a bunch of 1/2 and 3/4 defects direct from Vike...

I like Silver anyhow for anything over a half, plus if you burn a tungsten weight, it turns black, heat it with a torch until it turns orange, then drop in ice water...

Some have inserts so make sure you don't burn those unless you put it back in..I don't trust any tungsten without Inserts but lately if you look online you will be amazed at the deals...Looks like lots of companies have been unloading blemishes, especially hollow frogs from Snagproof and if they are still around on Flea Bay you can score 3 Phat Frogs for $15. Not sure of the defect, Couldn't find it but they were not listed as Snag Proof, or in orignal package....But I have seen this from many companies, If you like say Bass Assassin baits, give them a call and see when they have blemish lists, overstocks etc. and sign up...If they ask for a Tax Id, You can always give your SS# for a discount as a Sole PP, but they rarely ask...

Tungsten is going down in price big time now that the companies/factories making them have warehouses in USA, Candada since Shipping is what killed pricing when I last wanted to sell them...

It's usually $7 or so I think. It gets applied at checkout.

And that's not too hard to meet when buying tungsten!

I still use lead or brass most of the time.  I have maybe about a dozen pieces of tungsten, if that.  If I ever buy more I'll get them from Siebert.

Just got my first within the last two months.  I can confirm I'm not going back. I use SK, Eco Pro, and Academy house brand, but have some Vikes coming from TW. I figured for the price they were worth a shot.

I made the same mistake with tungsten. Then I went and did it with Tatsu. I really thought I could convince myself that neither were any better than the cheaper options, but there's no way to convince myself of that after using both of them.

The brand that pike like to bite off apparently - no matter what it is.
