Havent quite jumped on the beaver bait band wagon yet bought couple packs here and there so have a few berkley beast, ugly otter, sweet beaver to name a few thinkin bought gettin serious and throwin them more often so gonna buy in quanity so wondering whats everyones favorite bait with so many out there the bait monkey has an eye on the SK rodent but not so sure which way im goin

I started using beavers religiously last year and found a few things I like when looking. I like the beavers with more of a claw shape to them compared to the "scissor cut" look. (ex. reaction innov. sweet beaver look) The claws for me gives me confidence in that it still looks like more of a crayfish. I also look for bumps applied to the craws to give them a little extra flutter on their decent. Many companies make them this way, even Gander mountain has their own which I like a lot and you can't beat the price. Also I like a meatier body on the top section. Hope this helps!!

I have had exceptional results with the Strike King Rodent. HOWEVER, the appendages are the first thing to go and they go quick. I get one, maybe 2 fish out of them before the smaller appendages are gone. If I feel a hit, set the hook, but nothing is there, I can garuntee you that the Rodent is coming back with one of the "arms" missing. Once that happens, they turn into jig trailers.

The Sweet Beaver is my favorite, it is hard to match the bait's consistancy... Soft with a lot of salt. I catch more on that than all of my other beaver baits. I especially love the Roadkill color. I know I can catch a fish anywhere with that bait/color.

I just got ahold of some SK Rodents, and can't wait to give them a shot this year. They have Kevin Vandam's name on them, so they have to work.

Just remembered the GYCB Flappin' Hog, which is essentially a beaver bait. If they weren't more expensive and so fragile, they would be my go to beaver bait, even ahead of Reaction Innovations.

I used to use Reaction Innovations beavers. Now I use Tightlines UV Beavers. That's what Brent Chapman, Byron Velvick, and Bill Lowen use just to name a few. It works like everyone elses plus it reflects UV light.

One more point. Glenn likes for me to say I am a rep for Tightlines UV Lures so I will. I hope this is not considered inappropriate to make this comment.

Anyway that's the beaver I use.

Not inappropriate at all...I plan on trying the UV lures beaver, I just havent found a beaver that I like yet.

The sweet beaver for me, I think it glides better than most, and its my favorite jig trailer as well!! Real good luck with the smallie beaver on an 1/8 oz bitsy bug when the bite gets tough!!

I like a few different baits for different situations. The 4.20 is good for pitching when I want a light, slow fall. If I want a heavier bait looking for a reaction bite I'll toss a Flappin Hog because it moves so much water. I like the UV in stained water. The KVD baits are OK, I wish they were more bulky, though.

I actually prefer the ugly otter over the RI sweet beaver.Just personal a preference.They both do work well.

NetBait B Bug in black and blue. I don't know why, but that seemed to work better then the RI Sweet Beaver last year.

I use both these baits (and in that color especially). They're almost exactly identical. Biggest difference I've found though is that the RI is firmer whereas the NetBait is softer and more flexible.

I don't know if I prefer one to the other. I've done well with both.

Also, someone mentioned Gander Mt's line of beavers. They're like a hybrid between NetBait's Paca Chunk and B-Bug, having the body of the Bug and the claws of a Paca. They're pretty durable too. (Plus they come with a free hook.)

Truth be told, I haven't really met a beaver I didn't like

Power Team Conviction Craw.

Takes the best of the traditional beavers and infuses with creature tentacles. The bulbous body is a different profile than the usual ribbed beavers we see.

Those gander mountain ones are great, you get quite a few for not a lot of money, the free hook is nice too and since they have craw trailers when they become worn and beyond rigging, you can tear off the bottom and use it as a jig chunk

One of my managers went to a big vendors show out in Minnesota a month ago or so, and he seen them giving some of the Havoc baits away. He gave me a pack of the Pit Boss' since he doesn't really do as much flipping as I do. I went and threw one into my neighbors pond and I'm actually kind of surprised by the amount of action the appendages have on the Pit Boss. They look so simple, but I'm intrigued and I'll be giving them a fair shot this year.

Other than that, Big Bite's Fighting Frog is one of my favorites. They have nice action, a handy slit down the middle helps make sure the hook can pop out plenty to get a good set, and have a good profile with the craw style claws.

I use either the sweetbeaver or ugly otter most of the time. I have also done well with a zoom superhog in clear water.

I like the YUM Wooley bug. Fished the Havoc Pit Boss Tuesday and did pretty well with it though. With the price tag on it, it's hard to argue against using them for just fun fishing.

I like the Berkley Havok Pitboss on a 3/16th tungten weight. A close second would be the smallie sweet beaver in CA 420 on a 1/8th shakyhead.
