A few moths ago i got some great deals at my local walmart, and just yesterday i went to a different walmart and found 6 creates of heddon and rebel lures for 97 cents each! i got loads of pop-rs,crankbaits, frog-r's, spooks, moss bosses, etc. Like a kid in a candy store.
Good deal!!
I did the same thing, tons if heddon, rebel, and even bomber spinnerbaits for a dollar!
I'm hitting up my local Walmart tomorrow
How are them bomber spinnerbaits
They don't look bad. the ones I got were white/chart with a single Colorado blade. Haven't used them yet though
I got three separate lures outta that dollar box. One was a Rebel crankbait and that thing sucks. Runs sideways, doesn't wobble right. I tried fixing the eyelet but nothing worked.
Doesn't give me a whole lotta confidence in that Rebel brand. But for a buck each you're not losing much except space in your tackle box.
OK guess I gotta go to Walmart tomorrow!
I never did like those rebel baits. The heddon Zara puppys are pond killers and I can't wait to pick up some bomber spinners. Those yum have been a buck forever
Not all lures run the same we do need to check them closely to tune them. There can be little flaws in them
this is why out of 4 or 5 cranks being the exact same models one or two if your lucky will catch fish.
Rebel lures are good stuff.

dude they are almost sold out, but I tell you pick up a Rebel jumpin minnow in bone and black n gold. awesome topwater for 2 bucks.
You woulda fainted if you saw the three crates of heddon spooks at the san jose WM last weekend when I went back they only had a few in black/chart.

What kind of crank? the craw cranks? I never had a problem with any rebel but you check out the Pop-rs and jumpin minnows that is what rebel does TOP WATER
The moss boss you got is my secret weapon!! It is a weedless spoon and it out fishes frogs by a mile over pads, frogs seem better over matts but over pads the moss boss is a killer lure.

Figures I picked the wrong Walmart! I went to the one on Phillips and I didn't see anything. I figured the one on Phillips would have better selection than San Jose but I was wrong

The phillips one they are at the end cap, right next to the zoom bags. you will see the lures hanging.
I missed that box sale and only had limited selection to begin with.

I found this out when I bough 5 Red eye shad only 2 ran well and they caught fish the other 3 veer off to the sides.
Checked my local last night after reading this thread.... all gone.
I did pick up a Vendetta Rod for 29 bucks. Not a complete dissappointment
My walmart never has any good sales when i look :'(
I haven't had much luck with cranks out of the dollar box at Walmart. It seems like they are factory seconds, they have some defect somewhere. I have found them, Rebels and Cordells especially, to be hard to tune and most of them won't stay tuned very long. I've found the Walmart dollar box to be more trouble than it is worth.
On a positive note, I have found the Moss Boss to be a good bait.

I completely agree with this. Just by the split rings and hooks you can tell they are factory seconds or worse.
Check to see where they were manufactured. I think they come from factories overseas.
Dick's Sporting Goods does the same thing. I'd be leery of these, even if they are about a dollar.

What kind of cranksbaits and frogs (company)..I havent chekced miy local walmart but Im told I should.
none of the walmarts i check ever have a 97 cents sale for anything. they all just have discounted sections of stuff, but never 97 cents. this includes four walmarts in my area, and 3 on the way to smith mtn lake...
I grabbed some of the bone colored spooks for saltwater. for $1, hard to beat them, even if they do rust out in a week.
A few months ago my Walmart had Cordell Super Spots for $1.20 if I remember right. I had the clerk behind the counter check the price to make sure it was correct, then I bought three of them.
Just hit up my walmart again today for the $1 bin, bought the rest of the spooks in bone and a couple in clear. They still have a bunch of clear ones. Bought some more of the poppers too and grabbed a couple bags of yum f2 creature baits for a buck a bag. Be sure to check the clearance aisle and not the fishing dept, the fishing dept has NO SALES except for a couple shakespeare rods at my local walmart. The sales are in the clearance aisle.
I think 25 should do me for a while on the spooks/PopR. 25 for the price of 5 is not a bad deal.
They are factory seconds, no doubt about that. The package is labeled "hardbait" and nothing specific. But there is nothing wrong with a factory second topwater, I checked them over and could not find any flaws but a misaligned eye or a scratch in the paint. I would probably not buy a diving crankbait if it was a factory second though.
went last night to the dunwoody, ga walmart and they had tons of stuff in the $1 bait bonanza boxes. as said, they may be factory seconds but i got mostly top water pop-rs and spooks and it's hard to go wrong for $1... they had PLENTY left too

Man, I love that bait as well. I can remember one trip to Ontario where I was flat out slaying pencil reed pike on the Moss Boss.
After reading this thread for so long I FINALLY got out to my Walmart and racked up. They were all out of Pop-Rs and any other lures, but tons of plastics and spinnerbaits. Everything was only $1.00.
LC
Just out of curiosity I hit up a Walmart near where I work. They had Gamakatsu hooks for $2 a package. Strike King senko type baits for $2 a package. I am well stocked for worm hooks now!

Not sure what kind but its a shallow diving crank. It's got this funky texture like its made from this cheap plastic. It's has these small grooves that run from front to back. It's a horrible crank. Right outta the box I thought it was made by a mentally challenged monkey with two left hands.
I'm very hesitant to get any Rebel baits now.

I bought 3 Rebel lures about 2 weeks ago and everyone of them ran good right out of the box, the best part was they were right out of the $1 box! The floating jerk baits I got were working really well for me this past weekend. If i can catch 1 fish off a $1 lure i'm happy!

this is my experience pretty much, never had a problem with rebel baits of any kind. of course ive never gotten any for a dollar either...
At our local Wal-Mart I saw a box of Yum plastics marked $1.96. Looking closer I saw 4 bags of Zoom Trick Worms in the box. Didn't see any difference between those bags and the ones on the racks. I picked up the whole box and put it on my cart and found the clerk that works there. Asked him about the Zoom. He said people had been putting them in there all the time. He watched a guy take 12 bags of Zoom off the rack and drop them in the bag and then made a big deal out of "finding" them in the bargain box. The guy took them to the checkout and said he found them in the bargain box and demanded that he get them for $1.96. By the time he said that the clerk and security met the guy at the counter. It's going to cost him a lot more than he thought he was going to save on that bargain.
Wal-Mart has been putting out these bargain boxes for a while and they are good deals. You just have to check often and look for them.
They did this promotion at my local WalMart a few months ago. I got one of everything and a few of the things I really liked. I call it baitin' on a budget.
I got 2 rebel jumpin minnow T20 and 1 T10 and also purchased a cotton cordell redfin all for $2 each that I found in a bait bonanza box. Interestingly, the name of the plugs dont show in the packageing so had to look it up online as to what they were. Both the jumping minnow T10 an T20s work excellent and does a great walk the dog action and very easy to work. On the otherhand, the cotton cordell has been a dissapointment and only because it wont tune. I have ha fish jump on it though. I might go out and buy the heddon zara puppies next as the top water plugs seem to work well.
My Walmart never seems to have any deals when I go lol
I got some 7' dingers in a pearlish color and silver flake for $1.50. I think that they'd be good come fall when the shad come in.
