Everybody out there has a certain lure or technique they flat out enjoy the most...from a bobber and worm to the slightly more technical Carolina rig and everything in between, what's your favorite way to fish?
Granted it's probably not the best idea getting too caught up in any specific technique, but sometimes I can't help having a few favorites. Me I enjoy the challenge of finesse fishing a tube in 30 feet of water or enticing a lunker with the sporadic action of a weightless fluke. What technique seems to fit you the best?
Chunking & Winding ~ really doesn't matter what it is.
Could be a Spinner bait, a Crank bait, Swim bait,or Top water just as long as I'm heaving it out there and grinding it back.
A-Jay
Taking a dog for a walk! I remember 1 summer a few years back, it seemed like it was a topwater day every time out. Boy, I wore out my Spit'n Image that summer.
Soft plastics. 1) Wacky 2) TX 3) mojo.
Throwing a rage tail shad, this lure is hard to beat, nothing ive ever thrown catches as big as fish, the seeing the blowups is always an amazing time.
Fishing wood. Thats mine. With squarebills spinnerbaits and jigs.

Spinnerbait is a close second...I think it has something to do with the fact I caught my PB on a spinnerbait...It doesn't suck, that's for sure
Junk fishing.
T-rig, weightless trick worm, shallow at the shoreline.
Jerkbaits....I love to experiment with retrieves and cadences. It's always cool to see a bass stuff most of a full size jerkbait in it's mouth...head first. Not so much getting them back out!
I like cranks, but junk does it
Jerbaits for me...I always have one tied on somewhere and its my fav way to fish...a close second is walkin the dog with a sammy or a spook.
it is rare for me not to have atleast alittle action on a jerkbait
Noodling bass!
I am in the same camp as A-Jay. Any thing that moves fast. Swimjigs, spinnerbaits, lipless cranks, buzzbaits, and stanley ribbits are all my favorites. Senko fishing is about as fun as watching paint dry unless I am working it like a fluke or jerkbait.
Not so much one technique, but one or two specific covers: thick vegetation or heavy brush and boat docks!!
Punching, flipping, pitching, froggin, ripping swimbaits nd swim jigs through hydrilla is just my thing.
I also love skipping docks with jogs, plastics, flukes and square bills.
That's my niche, that's what I enjoy most, but still fish alotnof other techniques and diffeent structure like everyone else.
Hank parker once said that if u find grass, you will find bass... I just toook it and ran with it. Its paid off
Cranks
Dragging Ikas!
I am a successful finesse fisherman, but my favorite thing to do is crank a squarebill along wood and rock!
I really enjoy using a trick worm in clear water. Small or no weight, tons of actions and just watching fish come from 50+ feet away to come take a look (and usually strike) Although I haven't landed the big ones yet. Easily had a few 8 to 10lbs go after them in the summer.
Fishing slow with a jig. Doesn't matter time of day or year, the jig is my little buddy.
I enjoy throwing a square bill in shallow cover.
Fishing jigs
Can't name a single lure or technique because that varies from late April into mid July when I fish a sizable clear water reservoir in central Mass for smallies.
Could be:
vibrating baits
suspending jerkbaits
jigs
spinnerbaits
crankbaits
wacky rigged Senkos
poppers and walkers
. . . To sum up: Whatever presentation works under the conditions of a particular day.
I like buzzbaits, spinnerbaits, jigs, drop shotting, shakey heads although my big fish come from the jigs and shakey heads
Split shot rig. Senko as a close second, usually wacky. Frogs being third.
Weightless Senko. I won our tournament today dead sticking a Senko next to trees. Only once did I feel the fish bite. The other times I just knew there was a fish there.
What do I like or what am I good at? Personally I really like to fish spinnerbaits but they are not the best that day most of the time. Now what I am good at is pitching creature baits to any visible cover. Creature baits in green pumkin have accounted for so many fish I carry about 20lbs worth in my boat. What I dislike is anything I have to use a spinning rod for and my least favorite of all is weightless worms like a senko. Now I try to be as versatile as any good bass angler so I will use whatever puts fish in the boat but man I dislike spinning rods.
Allen
spinnerbaits, soft and hard jerkbaits
Weightless fluke, double fluke rig, lipless cranks
I enjoy the topwater hollow frog bite the most. When slowly reeling in and then BAM the fish strikes out of the water thats fun.

I'm sorry my friend, I would have to disagree here...it's hard to beat the excitement of tossing a weightless senko right in front of a bush where you know a hook set is inevitable. Can't say I've taken advantage of too many top water opportunities though, so maybe there's something to it
I'm with A-Jay. As long as my hands are moving I'm happy but topwater is the most exciting for me. Nothing like getting startled when a fish blows up on your buzzbait or frog.
Never been much of a soft plastic man, but you give me a KVD 1.5 crankbait in sexy shad, and I'll give you variable results.
Without a doubt, not even close, frog fishing is the best thing in bass fishing (to me of course). First I like hollow bodies but there are just some days when Toads catch more fish. Either way it's great fun. It doesn't matter to me which type of cover; weeds, wood, rip rap, boat docks it's all the same.
Second I'd have to say a square bill. Again it doesn't matter to me if I'm fishing it through/over wood, grass, shallow rocky points, or flats.
Third I really like to flip/punch heavy grass.
I pretty much like to fish just about anything the fish want that day with the exception of a Carolina rig, I absolutely hate those. I enjoy shakeyheads, finesse/pitching/swimming/football jigs, spinnerbaits, scroungerhead flukes, etc etc...
In the end though I like frog fishing so much that if I were granted 3 wishes I'd use one of them on being able to catch fish on a frog every time I go fishing 24/7/365.
I love pitching, frogs, and lipless cranks
I don't really have a niche, but it doesn't get more exciting than a top water. Something about being able to see, feel, and hear the strike. Plus, the anticipation is awesome.
Net man...
Soft plastics and Traps. Though I like it all these two stand out.
Topwater. Especially for smallmouth. It seems whenever I'm having trouble catching any this will always get me a couple. Lipless cranks are another.
I fish a ton of wood. If I had my choice I fish the pads all day every day with frogs/mice... I love that bite.
Throwing a jig into half submerged brush and wrestling a fish out.
Plastic worms and topwater my strong points and shallow water
Pop-r's. That's the first artificial lure I caught a bass on and one of my "go-to's" ever since. Nothing quite like a topwater strike to get your blood flowing!
Mine is using a jig. I've loved them ever since I caught my first bass on one.
It depends what I am fishing for.
Smallmouth - Jerkbait or Drop Shot (these two are tied)
Largemouth - Pitching Plastics in Heavy Cover
Musky - Super Mag Bulldawgs (a.k.a. Pounders)
Steelhead - Nymphing (Egg Pattern Fly)
Trout - Nymphing (Beadhead Pheasant Tail)
Anything constantly moving but there's something about flipping a jig to a dock and feeling a solid thump that really gets the blood flowing can't wait till it's dock fishing season again
Tight lines.
Andrew
Worm guy at heart, definetly my strong point, but give me a hollow body frog bite any day!
T-rigged plastic, Nothing beats the thump. Fish on.
Structure fishing. Whether with plastics, or chunk'n, or with dropshot. I love picking structure apart with a spinnerbait, but will do it however I need to.
Anything finesse for me. Something about fighting a fish with 5# or 6# line just makes things so much more fun haha. Although I am very fond of jerkbaits also...
T. Rigs and Jigs are hands down what I fish the most and enjoy the most....
When I posted earlier about weightless Senkos, that was related to the question. I've been fishing since I was barely walking. I can and have caught bass on just about every lure/tactic. Whatever the conditions call for, I'm ready. My biggest Senko bass is 8 lbs. I've caught bigger ones on 10" Powerworms and 6XDs.
But when it's tough, I know the Senko or fluke can save the day. So my point is, when all else fails, do what you do best. That is your niche. You see the pros that are the best with a technique win on that technique when the time is right. They may not do as well other times.
I think I'm pretty versatile, but give me a Senko when the time is right, and I'll beat many other guys at that time. I can't say that for other tactics. A Senko is not my favorite way to fish, but I'm pretty good at it. It's my niche that I worked hard to develop.
I love to junk fish, almost everyday I fish there is 20+ rods on deck and I like it that way. in my opinion no one lure will work best in every situation so having many different options available seems to produce the best results. if I had to pick just 1 or 2 i would say dropshots and frogs.
Mitch
Submerged wood is usually my game. In tournaments, I often crank bait. I'd say I have the most time and experience with them. My favorite to fish though, will always be a jig.
My very favorite part of fishing is experimenting, and any lure is welcome to my science project.
I can tolerate just about any lure or technique, even an 'unweighted senko'

This fits me to a T. My home lake has tons of milfoil, tule/bulrush, water willow, spatterdock, and docks.
I prefer my niche to be whatever I can get those buggers to bite on that given day. That being said though, I absolutely love fishing frogs. There's nothing like a gigantic explosion followed by an eye crossing swing to let you know the battle is on.
Jerkbaits are my favorite lures to fish; soft plastics are my most productive.
Top water...
Poppers and hollow body frogs are my favorite.
Senko, T -rigged plastics
Niche I don't know but I do know my preference. For me nothing beats sight casting, whether it's LMB or peacock, snook, tarpon or jack. Seeing that fin or water ripple and having that fish pounce on it, then running it down on foot.
Frogging is my niche. i will work a Frog in 45 to 90 degree water doesnt matter. me second is flipping pads and grass with creature baits.
Fishing a jig, shakyhead, or suspending jerkbait. If one of those baits are working then I'm happy.
Shallow Cranks and Jerks. Flat Raps, Shallow Shad Raps and Rogues catch me as much fish as anything and I enjoy fishing them.
super fluke...when all else fails tie it on, twitch it,dead stick it, drag it, jump it out of the water, put it on a scrounger head, wacky rig it, double rig it,put it on a swim jig, whatever it takes the bass WILL eat it some way.
My go-to is throwing craws or creatures on a swinging jighead. Hoppin it slow on the bottom and covering as much water as possible
Havoc Pit Boss on a Chompers Swinging Jighead (5/16 oz.)
Zoom ultravibe speed craws on smaller jigheads when the bite gets tough
My niche I would have to say top water baits. Mainly frogging. Fluking and walking would come a distant second. All the other techniques will follow after that.
My comfort zone - Spinnerbait, weightless flukes, buzzbaits and jigs. Always what I tend to to do in most situations. Although last year after forcing myself to DS more, it was one of my go to last year.
