When it comes to what type of lure/bait you buy?
Myself... Its squarebills, I cant get enough of them. I probably have like 100+ in every color imaginable, but every time I go to BPS or whatever I just have to buy some kind of squarebill.
A good sale on Senkos. LOL
Jerkbaits
I definitely don't need anymore, but I can't wait to try the Smithwick Perfect Ten!
Lately it has been jigs and craw trailers.....luckily I just bought jig heads and skirt material so I can make a bunch of my own.
Name brand on a good discount
Swimbaits.
Make ya poor REAL quick. LOL
My one weakness is that I have too many weaknesses.
A-Jay
jigs and/or spinnerbaits. I've plano's full of jigs and I've got spinnerbaits galore.
I have way too much of everything. I guess my top 3 would be:
1. Quality hand tied jigs.
2. Soft plastics
3. Megabass jerkbaits and topwater
Based on the surplus packages of Rage Craws I find in stacks all over the house, boat, and garage, I'd have say them. Seems like I grab a half dozen packages every time I go to the store, whether I need them or not!
Everything. That said swimbaits & crankbaits are my main obsessions.
Fat Ika's. I've got a gallon zip loc full of em that's bursting at the seams
Jigs and soft plastics...i need to remind myself that even with multiple rods i can only fish one at a time. Lol
my weakness is the pile of spinner baits I have that never use...i dont know why I dont throw spinner baits but for reason I just dont throw em much at all
my other weakness in lucky craft jerkbaits...i buy one everytime I go to the store lol
Topwaters I have way to many there is just so many different types and its the funnest way to fish.
Hand poured straight tail 4 inch worms, I have a whole Plano box devoted to one specific color and probably a good 400 worms in it, then two other Plano 3700s with some misc colored hand pours, I probably have easily over 800 worms right now stockpiled in my boxes, and had to special order that many since I bought the whole stock at the local tackle shop, sadly I like using them that much it cost me a tournament win since there were three teams that caught six lbers on senkos and I refused to put away the finesse worm, but I ended up catching a good 20+ bass instead of one 6lber with a few dinks, at least I was culling fish non stop, too add to that I can't stop buying hand tied jigs and dobyns rods, I bought my first in December and now I own 4 of them
mine would be square bills also
Worms and spinnerbaits!!
gotta go with baby rage tail craws
Crankbaits, without question. All types, deep divers, medium divers, squarebills, lipless, I just can't resist 'em
Tom
Soft plastics. I am a sucker for unique soft plastics.
For me it has to be crankbaits, spinnerbaits!!
Mine is definitely Netbait products especially the paca chunks, any color except white.

WHAT ??????????????????????????????
Mine is lipless cranks. Got a ton of RES Xcalibur Xr & xrk 50s.
Spinnerbaits and Roostertails. I have way more than I need. A few years ago I would buy any one I ran across that happened to be a different color than what I already have. Now I control that more and have actually thinned down my collection to 45 spinnerbaits, and about 80 Roostertails.
When I buy Roosters, I get them 3 at a time in whatever color and size I'm buying. If I get 3 different sizes in the same color then that's 9 baits I just bought. I've been known to have the tackle shops order them in case quantities of my favorite colors and then I bought them all when they came in. I lose a lot of them too, otherwise I'd have a lot more.
I don't buy spinnerbaits in duplicates like that but I do tend to duplicate the same patterns across multiple brands over time. I have several different brands of 3/8 white with tandem or double willow blades. I'm also a sucker for a chartreuse and white, or some other combination. Any different kind of firetiger I can find also, I grab it up. One might be mostly chartreuse and orange, or have more neon green in it than another. If it's like that then I gotta have it.
i would say jigs and spinnerbaits. Just because i like to make them, so i have quite the stock pile. As far as store bought baits, i would have to say jig trailers. I have 2 big storage bins full of trailers. I have every color Paca craw they make, every color Rage craw they make. On top of that i have rage grubs, Menaces, chigger craws, zoom swimmin flukes, and regular flukes for bladed jigs. I would say i have over 20 bags of black/blue paca craws and 10 bags of saphire blue trailers. I think the reason i collect them is because all my trailers can also be used as a bait by themselves. If i had to narrow it down to one single bait, it would be the Rage Craw. Every single time i go to BPS or make a TW order, i get at least 1 pack of rage craws.
Probably replacement hooks. I'm always try to put new hooks on old lures that I find.
My biggest weakness is I can't seem to stop buying, selling, trading fishing gear including rods, reels, line, lures, and soft plastics.
Is that wrong?
Baby brush hogs. I can never pass up in a sale or a new color or both.
Mine would be football head jigs though now I am liking the alien/brush head I haven't fished it it just looks sick I got a whole box of em.
Jigs even though at suck at using them. I just cannot go to the store and not buy one or two more.
Squarebill cranks and jigs. I have to have multiple sizes and colors for every situation possible.
5 years ago it was Brush Hogs, but i fought the temptation. Now its rage craws
Honestly? Every. Single. One. I can't think of one because I buy em all. All the time. Jigs, flukes, worms, craws spinnerbaits etc. you name it.
I guess flukes though. They are on the grocery list every Friday. it's funny too cause I don't fish them that often.... I AM the bait monkey!!!!!!

I know you and I discussed this, but I cannot catch a fish on a white chunk or worm. Give me any other color and I'm good to go. But this year I am going to try it again to see what happens. I'll report back to you with my results.
Swivels. Can't stay out of the swivel isle. Black, brass, chrome, ball bearing, snaps and no snaps. I've lost all control.
My only weakness is the size of my purse.
Jerkbaits and squarebills, and sale items, and lure building supplies, and finesse worms, and beaver baits, and creature baits, and jig trailers. Other than that I'm golden
Probably soft plastics for me. I have a ton of everything else too but I've had to make myself stop buying plastics.
I'm like you RoadWarrior. I have well in excess of 250 jerkbaits from nearly every current manufacturer. Megabass, Jackall, Strike King, Smithwick, Rapala, SPRO, Lucky Craft, Luck E strike, Bomber... It's a sickness. So many of them are just hanging on pegboard in the garage.
The other thing I can't walk away from is Pre- Rapala wiggle warts. I'll buy em regardless of color.

ill take a few megabass and luckycraft off your hands if you would like since theyre on a pegboard, LOL
I buy as a go for most things, I don't keep a large supply. I am consumed with 1 species in particular and I make my own lures, I'm constantly ordering components. After quite a few years I'm at the point of near perfection, but the next step is refine them a bit in an attempt to please my eye, they will not catch anymore fish. I plan on pouring my jigheads, ball chain swivel instead of a hook, I own one that was made up may years, just want to make one similar. I also want to add some spinner blades and send them up to some of my muskie buddies to see what they can do.
When i was about 14 years old I seen a bass fisherman and was
amazed by the amount of tackle he had. That man explain that different times
and conditions the fish prefer different gear. I said wow it must have cost you
5000 dollars for all that stuff how did you do it. He laughed and said every
time your parents take you to wal-mart pick up something anything no matter how
little and as time goes on you will see how fast your collection of tackle will
grow.
Well I have not been able to stop taking his advice it’s been
almost 20 years now and I still can’t go into a store that sells fishing stuff without
picking up something. Grrrr what a mean ole fisherman
Jay-
Lately it has been crankbaits and jerkbaits. In the winter I stop at one of the tackleshops (there are three ) on my way home from work on Fridays, I try to only buy a couple at a time.
I don't really have enough money to have a weakness in a certain type of lure collection, but I guess mine would have to be soft plastics. I have 3 plano 3700's full of soft baits I hardly ever use.
Great post. I go through phases. Right now, it's jigs and soft plastics. I feel real good about it though, because over the Fall and Winter, it was
G Loomis rods,......whew!!....glad that phase is over. Uh, I think it's over.
Hootie
Besides blondes (and brunettes and red heads), my weakness is WINTERTIME. During the warm weather months I actually don't buy that much. I'm too busy fishing (or mowing or watering the yard, etc). It's the winter when I'm all cooped up inside that I buy stuff. Lately it's been Rapala crankbaits in their various manifestations. But if the local store has a serious sale on just about anything, I'll probably buy it. Grrrrrrr!!!!
Mine is Jigs, crankbaits, and rage pastics. Everytime I go into bass pro im walking out with atleast one of those items. It has gotten bad too, the people at bass pro are starting to knowme pretty well a couple weeks ago I was buying, well some fishing stuff, and i handed her my debit card and she flipped it over to the see id part and she looked at me and said "im not gona id you because I see you in here all the time buying stuff" I finally decided that my trips to bass pro needed to slow down, I also lived 5 miles away from the bass pro. Thank goodness i moved to college which is 2hrs away from that bass pro so I dont spend any money while im here but when I go home I seem to always find my self in there...

Not a chance. They're on pegboard because I donate so darned many to the Esox gods every year...
Swimbaits and jigs. I have way too many!!!!!
Lipless cranks. Yup. While some of you guys say jigs or spinnerbaits. I have about 5 jigs and 5 spinnerbaits. But around 20 lipless cranks. And I've only been fishing since April. And another thing is I've gotten hung up about 15+ so... Add 20 more lipless cranks. Lol
Just 20 lipless baits
Frogs. All colors and shapes and styles and sizes. Especially during the winter...
Man, I thought I had some tackle buying issues, but you guys are making me feel much better about my impulse control! I need my wife to read this board!
For the record, my weaknesses are junebug colored plastics, squarebills, and jigs.
Soft Plastics!!! CANT HAVE ENOUGH!!!!
For ex: I get $100 to BPS for my BDAY... Spend 80% on soft plastics... My aunt gives me $50 to BPS I spend 100% on soft plastics....
I need to buy more jigs and cranks
Another one of mine are St Croix rods..
Sadly yes. Lol. I had 40+ , I found a container of receitps and they were all for lipless cranks lol..On 3/15/2013 at 8:17 AM, J Francho said:Just 20 lipless baits

X2 Hard to find in these parts, especially in the colors I use. So in fear of ever running low, I grab a few packs every time I find them.
Kryptonite.
I have a weakness for the wife, hard to say no to her.
Wintertime sales. To be fair, I don't need to buy an awful lot during the warmer months of the year but come winter, the cycle just repeats itself.
Everything!!! I just cant stop..
Craw trailers. I have about 30 pounds worth of them.
Bomber crankbaits:
1) Square-A
2) 4a
3) Fat Free anything

I have a buddy that's got it for them too. Wears a ton of jewelry also. I think that's where his addiction originated.
With me, it's plastic baits. BIG plastics. If a company comes out with a mega sized tube, worm, or whatever, I'll be in line to buy some when they hit the shelves.
Jig fishing!!! I love power fishing, even when I'm not fishing I'm putting action into the retrieve. I need to learn more about the structure of lakes and how to use Jigs. By late spring and summer there is so much vegetation that I just don't know where to throw jigs other than docks. I just end up with a pile of weed.
