any baits that not too many people know about or you make yourself?
The french fry.
Although the Fat Ika is well know on this forum, I have NEVER seen anyone else fishing the bait.
what are the fat ika and french fry? thanks for the responses
I love the grape and white or black and white 7" worm by culprit.
Red's brand name worms was a local business that closed up shop a few years ago. I use to fish them allot.
Luck-E-Strike floating worm kits sold at walmarts trash the hooks that come with it and rig it weightless on a 2/0 skip gap and jerk it cross grass and lilly pads ad hold on tight.

I used them in the 100 degree heat last week and they produced
Here my report with pics of the FAT IKA / Palm Tree.

Lunker City Salad Spoon needs more love around here... Great sleeper bait that I always carry with me. I never see anyone using them.
Bite it Baits Bed Bandit,
I have a lot of success with very large spoons in the summer when a lot of people I talk to are struggling and I am catching 30+ fish in 85 degree water on a 1oz 5 inch spoon tht I spray painted black stipes and dots on a chrome spoon.
The Big Bite Baits: Cane Thumper soft swimbait.
We've all heard of berkley powerbait. We've all heard of baby brush hogs. Put those two together and you get a banned soft plastic (in tournaments) known as the power hawg. I've got somewhere around 5 packs worth of them, they catch bass like crazy.

If I had half the confidence you have on a Fat IKA I would be great with them. I dont know why but for some reason I dont find that they entice the fish. I have tried to use them and every time I dont catch a thing. Maybe its my presentation(same as Senko), my little(lately) use for them or its my confidence in them but I cant catch crap on them. Anything else I should know?
The nories bug by kinami
They're really good and I haven't seen anyone using them or talking about them
floating flap tail lizards.

Even though the Rage Tail Smokin' Rooster is popular among our members, it's not often seen on some lakes.
grande bass rattlesnake. It is ocaisionally mentioned but never hear anyone else fishing it.
I got to go with clayton86 and MCS. The Luck "E" strike floating worms and rattle snake are both winners for me.
Also the creme lures little fishy use to be my number one favorite bait. Still keep a few of the around just in case
i have never drop shotted or carolina rig in my life to be honest.

I really like this one too, see my profile pic. I just bought a pack the other day. Banned from tournaments? thats news to me. Id like to see them try to ban a soft plastic bait.
The other bait in the pic is an owner yuki bug. Another great craw. Wish they made BOTH these baits larger. I wouldnt carry anything else.
River Rock Baits out of Virginia, I discovered them by accident last year and so far they have been my best producers. Their jointed jerkbait is soft and flexible even with salt and I can work it much more aggressively than a Fluke or Slug-O because it stays down but still has fantastic action. They make a buch of great baits but their tubes are second to none, they make tubes from 2.5" up to 5" with my favorite being the 3" and 3.5", in 25 years using a tube the River Rock Baits Tube is the best I ever used, the skirt really flairs well and the consistancy is perfect!!
Xcite bait Maximus on an Xlock jighook or a Titleshot mag jighead if it's weedy. Yum came out with their copy this year that they call the Mightee Worm. I like the Maximus batter because it floats, fish it like a big shaky head worm.

Here in mexico it's very popular, everybody uses it. And for some guys it has replaced the senko

I got on one of the most amazing bites of my life on that bait. The lake I was on had 30' clumps of algae floating randomly here and there. Bass were jumping out of the water all along the edges grabbing egg dropping dragonflies. Was having mixed results until I got to thinking what I had that mimicked a D.F. Found a weightless nories bug, cast on spinning gear was JUST WHAT THEY WANTED. I'd honestly forgot about them!
LFT Hyper Freak and Hyper Worm

Great worm. I've found that when I get a bite with a rattlesnake, they RARELY spit it out. Also, you can smell a boat with an open pack of Grande Bass baits from half a mile away....STRONG smell, haha.
ive had alot of luck with the dicks exclusive shaw grigsby series creature bait dont think they make it any more which is too bad cuz theres not much out there like it and d**n it catches fish

You could have answered the question in as many words as it took you to be a jerk about it.
Manns 4" single tail skirted grub. Another good one, I think Fluke mentioned was the french fry.

If you go on Bass Pro Shops' website and look at the Power Hawg's description, it said something about it being banned. I may have misinterpreted it, though
Ive been using a bait called a super hog anybody heard of it?
Zoom makes the super hog

I have fished it and caught a few bass no it at a Virginia state park pond. Good bait. Don't tell anyone.
bps catapiller grubs...... loved that series and still have a few bags of the worms, craws, and such left. Wish they did not stop making them, really held salt well and the bass seemed to really lock down on them, like a ring worm, only with a better ability to hold sent and salt.
O yea. Both are Berkley products.
1. Berkley PB realistix kicker frog. They arent terribly cheap. Like 5 dollars for 3 of them. But they work well. How well? Let's put it this way.... I havent touched a hollow body frog like spro in over 3 years.
2. Berkley power hawg. I discovered these by accident. Ordered a Pflueger supreme from FFO.com and they sent me a pack of them for free in watermelon. Ugly looking things, But my 3rd cast yielded a 4 1/2 lb. LM. They don' t land me quantity, but the ones I catch with them are always nice in size.
Anyone fish reaper tails? Those look like they have potential, but I have yet to see them in use.

X2.... My brother never had any luck on them so he gave me a pack of hyper worms saying that I could keep me if I wanted to waste some space. I went out about a week later and at the end of the day just t rigged one and brought it in on a moderate retrieve and got the nicest fish of the day. They are fragile though and usually won't last me more than one fish and occasionally an over zealous bluegill will rip the back section off causing it to drop in the standings of my favorite baits.

After you failed with the Ika, have you tried another bait, in the same spot, and caught them? If so, I'd be very surprised. Try this: fish a lure you have extreme confidence in....in a spot you are very sure has bass. Catch one. Put it away and use the Ika. I guarantee you'll catch just as many more fish (maybe a lot more) than if you had stayed with your high confidence bait. And it will reinforce your confidence in the Ika. This Ika is a killer bait, but you have to fish it where they are and you have to believe in it.
4" Fat Ika rigged weightless and backwards on a 4/0 hook

I completely agree, the Ika is deadly. Don't tell anyone that fishes your body of water, though.
Reaction Innovations Big Flirt 6.95" In the dirty sanchez color will tear the lips off of them!

No issues with that hear lots of water to cover in south Florida. 12 foot Jon boat is a lot fun of in my neck of Florida. The days of afternoon showers are coming along with that comes 20-40 bass in few short hours of fishing.
Cabin Creek tubes are great on Erie.
Never heard of "Fat Ika" before, until a few years ago on this forum. That one tip has been worth the price of admission. I have caught more fish on them in the last couple years then any other soft plastic, and I selfishly agree, KEEP IT A SECRET.
everyone knows about the fluke but the color that beats them all is Smokin Silver, i keep 20 packs on deck at all times. Works in all water colors, all temperatures and just about anywhere you use it. Try it out
I have 3 left...A Bill Norman Snatrix....They have long since went by the wayside and I think I heard Norman sold the molds long ago...great plastic worm and would absolutely love to find out If anyone Is making them again.
don't really hear a whole lot about lake fork craw tubes. this bait has worn out my thumb this summer.
also, the 8" Producto tournament worm

Another good one
I was on a 2-day local tournament on a lake and the only color they were hitting was orange. The ONLY thing in my tacklebox that had orange in it was some 4" hollow tube baits. I've never been a fan of tube baits (even though I know they really work well) and I didn't have any hooks designed for tubes. So.....
I took a pair of scissors and cut off the skirt, about 1/4" above where the skirt starts. I then took out a french fry-style worm, which was the Zoom Centipede.
I slipped the skirt on to the centipede and slipped it about half way up the centipede. I rigged the centipede Texas-rigged, with no weight, and barely put the hook through the skirt, so the skirt would stay in place.
I immediately started catching bass and caught 2 keepers, each tournament day.
On the fall, the skirt flails out, much like an octopus moves.

I traveled a lot for work I'd spend weeks at a time hear there ect so I couldn't carry much tackle with me. Packing skirts let me cut out jigs and I've never gone back. BTW a mini butane soldering iron work wonders not only can you add a skirt but you can mend a worm.
Ok so today i bought some Palm Trees at a trip to bass pro, do they make diffrent sizes? I got some small ones (the only ones they had) in junebug and white with a chartreuse tail. Ill try them out after i work 6-1 tomorrow
If you have a discontinued plastic you really love save one and make a plaster of Paris mold. It's simple and you will always have the option to make as many as you need.

Ika has different sizes but have only seen one size Palm Tree. These things cast great even into the wind.

4/0 will work.
Ok, since nobody has mentioned them yet, I'll chime in:
1. Super Doos
2. Chicken Foot worms
3. MadMan craw rigged on a Starburst jig.
and.... I still use Slug-gos with success.

Glenn shhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh there are somethings better kept as a secret. All those baits apply to that category
Bought some Charttreuse/white and some junebug palm trees and used them yesterday in thick grass, im thinking about riggin up a mojo rig for it next time like flukemster has suggested.
I forgot to mention this was the only fish caught all day yesterday.
