Ok guys, I'm iced in and you guys are very knowledgeable. What is your favorite creature bait? Mine has been the baby brush hog. I did very well on them last year. I have never used the full size brush hog they just seem to big for some reason. Also best time to use creature baits? Hot summer is what i was doing. Bring it on!
Berkley Havoc Pit Boss. They are great priced, tuff yet still soft.
Baby Brush Hog and Pit Boss are two must have baits. The Rage Space Monkey under certain conditions can be really good. Options are endless
The full size brush hog is what i used to catch my personal best on. 8.5lbs. Not my favorite creature bait but the brushhog is darn good one!!
Baby brush hog
It really depends on the depth, but I have found one of the best creature baits to be the Rage Tail Lizard, I love these things !!!
I love my space monkeys and beavers, caught alot of bass off both last year!! I flipped the beavers, and either c-rigged or flipped the space monkeys.
GrandeBass Mutants
My girlfriend caught her first (and still PB) bass with a Pit Boss. Almost four pounds.
I like the watermelon orange flake baby brush hogs, but love flipping super hogs as well.
Damiki Hydra and the Yamamoto Fat Ika's are pretty cool.
I also enjoy flipping the Missile Bait's D Bomb as well as Ugly Otters.
I have far too many flipping plastics...
GYCB Kreature!
Baby brush hog
Yet another vote for the baby brush hog. I don't think there is a bad time to use them, I catch fish on them year round. The SK Space Monkeys are pretty good along with the Smokin Rooster.
Baby brush hog for pitching and casting, full size for C-rigging. Pit Boss is another must have. I've done really well with a BPS Crack Craw also.
Kinami D bug
Yeah, baby brush hog here. Also Yum wooley hawgtails.

I have a lot of confidence in the Yamamoto Flappin' Hog. I really like the bulk of the bait even though its not too big. It's great for smallmouth and spots around here. I fish it on a skirtless, weedless jig head just like a jig.

x2. I like both sizes of the Flappin' Hog and usually fish them on a Luck E Strike "Perfect Worm Rig" (simple, skirtless jig with a darter head and a Gammy EWG hook). It slides right through the weeds.
Yamamoto double tail hula grub. Texas rigged and jig trailer.
Baby brush hog.
I also like the Yamamoto Flappin Hog, I normally use it as a jig trailer when I want a bigger profile. I also like the NetBait B-Bug.
From the looks of these posts, the only "Must Have" is the Baby Brush Hog.On 1/27/2013 at 9:47 PM, roadwarrior said:Newest entry: MegaStrike MegaBug http://www.megastrike.com/#!products/vstc2=megaplasticsMust Haves:

I love the baby brush hog and I haven't seen the need to try any new baits since I honestly always have success with it. I know some of the mods on this forum seem a little biased, but I have also received some good tips from them in the past. The Megabug does look good, and I would try it if I could find it somewhere other than online, but I don't remember seeing it any stores. Maybe next time I put in an order to TW, I'll add a pack on.
I did buy a few packs of Pit Bosses and Fat Ikas that I'm looking forward to trying this year.
Havoc devil spear and the old yum beaver tail
Regular b-hog in California 420.
Another baby brush hog here
Pit boss, pit boss, pit boss and, oh yeah, PIT BOSS!!!!!!! if I want a large profile I will go with a rage hawg. But if I had to pick one, pit boss!!!!!
Great info. guys the possibilities really are endless. I think it is what you have confidence in. You gotta wonder what bass think some of these things are with all the arms, legs and appendages. Thanks for chiming in.
Reaction Innovations sweet and smallie beaver........ Black/ red flake, Fried watermelon, white trash.......Many, many colors for different situations.
baby brush hog and the pit boss
Haven't used many creature baits, so from what I have used, it would be the Yamamoto flippin' hog...
So many baby brush hog lovers here...I didn't know I was such a minority liking regular brush hog.

I am with you on the big boy! I catch more on the Brush Hog than the Baby.

I am picking up a few packs of these to try out this year. Also picked up some of the craws to try. This will be my first year using the Rage line up.
rage hawg, space monkey, regular brush hog or baby brush hog
Im with the majority...baby hog or sweet beaver both in green pumpkin.
My favorite for the last few years was the Big Bite Fightin' Frog.
I may have to bench them, to put in my new starter the Missile Baits D Bomb.
Baby brush hog and the Missile baits DBomb.
not sure what all the fuss is about the RI beaver, i dont think the action on them is anything special.... im a flappin hog guy myself, might have to get some more brush hogs this year after all the good input.
I like the baby brush hog as a jig trailer (shhhh!, don't tell anyone) when fish don't want the craws, and the Skeet Reese pit boss and the RI beaver (regular size) for pitching and punching. I don't really use creature baits all that often, but when I do, these are the ones I reach for; because, well, I have had good luck with them.
I fish ALOT of creature style baits. My best results for size and numbers are the the strike king 4 inch rodents. I also regularly toss the D-bomb, pit boss, yamamoto kreature, RI beavers, zoom brush hog, and many others. I feel that these baits Texas rigged produce better quality fish than other plastic options like worms, craws, and lizards.
I like the Rage Tail Space Monkey.
Weightless: Fat Ika
Texas Rigged: Sweet Beaver
Rage Rigged: Smoking Rooster and Space Monkey.
For me, Baby Brush Hog.

Creature baits are what load the boat for me and there are a lot of good recommendations here. My opinion the two baits I rely on the most are the Zoom baby brush hog and the RI smallie beaver both in green pumkin. Now I will tell you I have yet to find a creature bait that didn't work but the two I mentioned have worked the best for me. The Yamamoto Kreature and full size brush hogs are great for larger bass I have found so I switch to them when trying to cull. Regular size RI beavers work but IMO they do not work any better than the smallie size and the smallie ones work a lot better pre-spawn for me. Flappin hogs work but since the re-design I find that the pinchers are ripped off to easily by panfish. The only other bait I would try would be the 4" Berkley power hawg, it is what I use in between the smallie beaver and baby brush hog.

Love these:
Missile Baits D Bomb
RI Sweet Beaver
Damiki Knockout
Trying these:
Caraway Creek Custom Baits Flippin Craw
D&M Custom Baits Flippin Craw
I just out in a order with Caraway Creek and D&M to try out their creature baits. I'm a huge feature bait fisherman-- I throw it 90% of the time.
I started using brush hogs and baby brush hogs last year and I love them. I catch more fish with the baby versions, but both work. I have tried many of the other baits mentioned includung; pit bosses, little moe's and space monkey's. I have found that I catch more quality and quantity with the brush hogs than othe creatures and most other soft plastics in general. Also, I am going to start using Big Bite Baits Fighting Frog this year. I hope I have as much succes with these, as I've had with brush hogs.
