Ok, so everyone has that one hard, soft plastic or lure or jig or topwater or whatever it may be in your tackle box that when you pull it out you still get butterflies in your stomach and you just know it will get you some good fish...
I want to know what bait you guys LOVE to use it dosnt matter what time of season or when it was made just name that ONE BAIT THAT IS DEAR TO YOUR HEART:)
MINE IS A TIE BETWEEN THE SPOOK AND SENKO!
Used to be senko, now it's a Zoom Swim Super Fluke, Shad color, on a 5/0 EWG hook :-) ALWAYS produces :-)
Ever since I learned how to fish and catch fish with a jig, a black and blue with zoom super chunk or Denny Brauer chunk is my favorite. Although, even though I don't catch as many, I love love love fishing my live target frog!
Maybe I'm old-fashioned but the one bait I can almost always rely on to catch at least a few fish is the original floating Rapala. They may not always be the largest fish and I may have to move around some (to fit the location to the lure) but I can nearly always catch something. Of the various sizes and colors, I probably have 15 or more in my two boxes.
Mine is the senko, weightless, it always produces!
7" Powerbait worm, motor oil color, texas rigged with a 1/4 oz. bullet weight. Always works for me around here.
It's a toss up.....
or....
Fish
A vintage Balsa Squarebill crankbait.(named a Tenneesee Shad by Lonnie Stanley and Mooney Winston....about 45 years old that I had Marty Burns re-paint. The color was called "Pea Green." No other cranks since then have been able to actually come through timber and catch fish as well as this crankbait. I have 3 of them and they are my ultimate "confidence" bait.
I suppose it catches fish because I KNOW it will catch fish!!
A 4-way tie----the Walking Worm, Helicopter Lure, Lazer Lure, and Flying Lure. They were on TV, LOL
Jig hands down.
My favorite lure to fish is either the RAGE Shad or buzzbait double prop. Best producer is soft plastic, senko, worm or naked t-rig craw. Big fish is a jig hands down. Although I must admit that my 3 largest largemouth have all come on a buzz, mainly because I love throwing one.
Jig. Hands down the best.
Zoom Trick or finesse worms. Sometimes a wacky rigged 5" senko.
My favorite is the one I caught my last fish on, today it was a windcheater.
There are two baits/lures that I consider "revolutionary".
Original Floating Rapala
GYCB Senko
Your post said" best bait ever" ..... duh LIVE SHAD!
+best LURE ever, brush style jig or football jig with D&M Flappin craw or a Rage craw/lobster

Do you really use those walking worms wayne? They look crazy! haha.
My fav would have to be the Rage Tail Anaaconda. Amazing worm.
Senko, all day.
Rage trail anaconda. Always produces for me. 7” that is.
My jigs and a Netbait Paca chunk, wouldn't fish without them.
I'm not gonna say it's the best bait ever, but the Texas rigged worm was shown to me when I was 11 or 12, and COMPLETELY changed the way I fish for bass.
Finesse worm. I don't really care what kind, brand, whatever. As long as its between 3-6 inches, straight tailed, and green colored, I can catch fish with it in almost any conditions on any lake any time of year. Close second would be a smoke or gp grub.
Zoom fluke Jr, roboworm straight tail and alive shad. If I can't get bit with these, they fish aren't there.
Zoom trick worm, watermelon red.

X2
9" Blackberry Jelly Worm
My 2 favorite is: senco, 3 or 4 inch ones.
fluke 3-4 inch ones
There are 3 for me that I can always count on:
1) Jig
2) T-rig worm (black w/blue ribbon tail)
3) Yamamoto D-shad
DMF has the absolute best slogan in the world... "Our worms catch fish or die trying." lolOn 4/24/2013 at 11:48 PM, Fish Chris said:It's a toss up.....

Best hardbait ever would be a Rebel Pop-r...Honarable mention to the Original Rapala
Best Plastic is Grande Bass Rattlesnake.....
always have one or the other or both with me
Zoom Super Fluke, Pearl White.
lets get jiggy with it
Watermelon red baby brush hog, it's a killer!
Rapala Shad Rap or a Wiggle Wart, or a jig.
Is there a better lure than a rage craw/weighted hook?
Jointed Shad Rap, Firetiger. Spinnerbaits.
1. Texas rigged Culprit Black shad worm.
2. Any other plastic worm or tube texas rigged.
3. Jig & trailer.
Ronnie
Jig
The lowly soft plastic worm has caught more fresh water bass than all the bass lures combined.
The Finland lure, now known as the original Rapala changed artifical lures forever and caught more fish then any other lure all over the world.
When I take a new bass angler fishing, it's the soft plastic worm that gets the call, only because I don't like to use live Canadian night crawlers, they are a no brainer for catching bass.
My go to lure is a hair jig with pork trailer, not the most productive lure in my boat, just the one I am most confident will catch big bass year around. Love to use swimbaits, when the bass are targeting them.
Also use big soft plastic worms a lot, when night fishing or fishing flat bottom areas with brush. I prefer jigs on steeper rocky areas.
Tom
Without a doubt a Senko. Been seen thousands of times and bass still cannot resist that wiggle.
I have two. The original floating Rapala and a Mepps Squirrel tail spinner.
the crystal 3d minnow is my best one even in shallow clear water. I know its recommended to use a more natural look in clear waters but this thing works. I'm pretty sure the bass had a good look at it too before striking as I was doing a 4sec stop n go. Theres a lot of people saying senkos, but for some reason it never worked for me. Then recently read a book about how the southern bass readily eat senkos but their northern family normally will not. Just thought that was pretty interesting and may explain why senkos don't seem to work well for me.
I have to also add a rattle trap to my original post because it got me my first "big" bass
(5lbs = big for me haha)

My "Panic" Box is my senko box:)
Interesting about the north and south bass that is worth looking into!
Original Floating Rapala, the first wonder bait.
My favorite is fishing a spinner bait. Fish absolutely annihilate them when they hit it.
Shad rap, x rap, rattlin rap, dynamite usually works too. Its funny cause I'm not much of a rapala guy outside the above listed, however looking forward to trying some scatter raps
1- weightless Texas rigged worm
2- Rapala Floating jointed J-7, Silver & Black

I will tell you for a fact that whomever wrote that book does not know what they are talking about. Senco's work for me from Erie to Oneida and everywhere in between.

That's pretty funny. What book? Who's the author? Does he actually fish? Sounds like a bunch of nonsense to me.

That's just crazy talk! Craziness I tell you!!
For years my go to bait was the original floating Rapala In size 11 or 13, Silver/Black. The size 7 original balsa shad rap is the most productive crankbait I've ever used. These two lures always catch bass...or pike. That said, I think a trick worm or senko average larger fish, at least for me.

St. Clair is not in the south and senkos work great. I suggest you get a new book!

Ya, me too, except when I have to take a nap in the middle of the day out of shear boredom.
I couldn't remember so I looked it up on amazon. Its called Bass Wisdom by Homer Circle. Chapter 29: Bass fisherman: North vs South. I go to barnes n noble for a couple hrs to read fishing related stuff once a week so I tend to forget, but Im pretty sure this is it. This is just the authors personal experience so I know its not a fact.Just Got me thinking is all.
Zoom dead ringer series and R.I. beavers, both smallie and sweet.
If I were limited to two lures, it would be a jig and a spinnerbait. In clear water though that's not too deep, nothing produces as consistently under most conditions as a senko.

try out a wacky rigged 4 inch senko bud

I tried wacky rig as well as texas and carolina. I even tried it under a bobber once. Got absolutely no hits and eventually lost all my baits or got worn down from being thrown. I am going to give it another go now that I have polarized sunglasses. Maybe then I can see whats really going on.
white double bladed buzzbait ftw!
Obviously the clear winner is a Huddleston. If your talking a straight up fish catcher then a weedless shad or grass minnow win all day. Maybe you can catch more fish with senkos or something but that is slow and you can't cover water as well. It might actually be impossible to not catch fish with a Huddleston. I could spend all day fishing other baits and never get a bite. Tie on a weedless shad and I guarantee I start catching fish. It's like cheating.
Favorite bait to fish is a spinner bait. My most productive is a tube. I can fish it in several different configurations, and it flat out catches bass.
4" Tubes, weighted or no weight. Can fish them on top or deep

Isn't this Uncle Honer? If so take everything with a grain of salt, he also recommended using WD 40 to clean and lube reels, right after fishing. For those who don't know WD40 actually traps water and in doing so causes rust, and lube break down. Never clean a gun with it either, I know the WD stand for water displacement, just doesn't do it.
Last few outing I've really enjoyed using hollow body frogs. KVD and Booyah both produced bass and snakeheads! I love topwater action :-)
top water baits are great cause even if you miss the fish you get to see them slam it and if you clean your reels with water get a water displacing oil...hobby shops sell it for RC car nitro motors to keep moisture out of the motors when they sit unused...just wipe off excess water then put some of the oil on a rag and rub it all over your reel (careful of the line though im not sure how it reacts)
