Finally, they're here "Rage Tail's Next Generation". I really appreciate everyone's patience as the official launch was at ICAST this week. They were a tremendous hit. Hope you like them and after viewing the video, please let me know what you think.
It's posted on the home page of my Rage Tail website.

Big O
Big-O, Thanks for the chance to fish those big worms early. They are awesome. I showed them to the other guide and he put one on a hook and made a cast from the dock. It didn't make it back to the dock without getting hammered by a 4lb bass. I was impressed to say the least.
Yes, thank you. I haven't gotten the chance to fish mine and I'm looking forward to trying out the frogs. But as much as I'm looking forward to the frogs, the space monkey looks like it's going to be an awesome bait for the muck I fish. The others looks great as well.
BTW, the new packaging is fantastic. EXACTLY what was needed. Big kudos to whoever came up with that.
I can't wait to see the anaconda :-/. That thing looks awesome.
I got the privilege of meeting Steve (Big O) at ICAST, and he showed me these awesome new baits. I have to say, I'm very impressed. A LOT of effort went into the design, and it shows. These are real winners!
Awesome job on the new products Steve can't wait to get them wet. Hey how was ICAST hope you didn't loose to much money in vegas?
It was a terrific Show and Glenn and Robert dropped by the first morning and both of them were even SOBER ;D. Really it was great to meet them.
I actually brought some of that Vegas money back, the Craps and Black Jack tables were good to me this trip.
Big O
Craps.................you are a brave soul.
I can't wait to give the Space Monkey a whirl!
They look like they have great action but the video makes them look awful soft.
I'm sorry if I missed something but when and where can I get these.
While watching the video I found myself laughing out loud.
Not quite sure why, maybe because it's now 0315 hrs, I've only had 4 hours sleep and have to leave in 15 minutes and drive about 65 miles for a tournament.........
Ok, what I was laughing at........that LIZARD. I've gotta tell you, if that thing dosen't look like something swimming for it's life because a largemouth the size of jaws is chasing it!
Poor little guys legs and tail are a flapping like crazy trying to get away LOL!
I will definately have to pick up a pack or two for my carolina rigs!
Big-O,
Put on a Rage Tail crawfish at a local pond and it never made it back to me.
A beautiful bass hit it on my first cast.
The action is fantastic.
Can't wait to throw them in an upcoming tournament.
Also will be sure to purchase all of the new selections.
I have never seen such action on a plastic.
These baits are beautiful.
When can I get some. I am a big fan of the Rage tails and I would use several of them. When will the colors schemes be ready ?
Okay, Normally I'm a huge sceptic when baits first hit the market and wait to hear what other fisherman who have used the bait a while have to say. But, when the original RT came out I grabbed a few packs of the craws and loved the "THUMP" they put out. However, I was a bit disapointed that after a few fish they kept sliding down the hook and had to breakout the fishing glue to keep-em from slipping yet, something that continues to put fish in the boat is well worth the effort.
On a recent outing w/Masshole Mike I watched him toss around the RT Shad and became very intrigued. Bought a few packs and Now I can't put the darn thing down!
It's ability to stay ontop and create such a commotion as well as being able to fish them in a wide veriety of retrieves was extremely appealing. I've been all over the internet lately looking for something different to use around pads in addition to open water. At first I was going to say "The Lizard is just the type of lure I was looking for!" But, after watching the video of the next generation RT's they all seem to fit the bill and can't wait for them hit the market! I'll definately be making room in the tackle box for 3 or 4 new baits.
i just bought two more bags of the RT shad in green pumpkin, headin to the quabbin today to try em out.
looks like i'm gonna have to add these new RT products to my next shopping list. big-O, the chimp says "thanks!" ;D

LOL, Robert and I did the same thing! Steve calls them "Crazy Legs", which is a pretty accurate descriptions. What's cool is the legs keep churning away even when you kill it.
I looked on the ragetail site but I couldn't find anything that said the date the bait will be availible. I would like to try them...hint hint Steve.... How much are they going to run?? I hope not to expensive :-/
Don't know what the prices will do because I am not aware of that info as of yet. I'm sure SKLCo is waiting to see what what the raw materials and additional manufacturing cost increases are going to be.
From now on, most all of the Rage Tail baits will have new inside packaging (hardshell clams) to maintain the exact shape of the baits so that they are as close to perfect as possible when you put'em on a hook. Also tear tabs on all legs, tails or extremities on any and all designs. Kind of like some of the swimbait packaging but mine are complete snap shut hardshell enclosures for more protection to guarantee the action to be correct on all baits. In manufacturing, each bait will have to be placed by hand, one at a time in a given sequence inside the clam then closed before placing in the bag and sealed. I have put an enormous amount of time in the development of this new system and this has added big expenses in manufacturing but I think it's about time that someone steps it up in the soft plastics market to not only provide high energy and action designs but as importantly, guarantee the action results on every single bait in the package. I'm In. On the Anacondas, the tails will be attached but clams will not be necessary.
"Some people design soft plastics to make a living, but I live to design soft plastics", theres a difference you know. I am retired and money is not an object, I just want to be able to give my best effort and be totally happy with whatever I do. Now that's a happy retirement and you guys are a big part of that, thanks.
Big O
Approximate date to see product on some store shelves and via internet is 10-15-08
I'm excited about it. Only two months.
I've been helping test the new stuff for quite awhile now and I've tried to put them through the paces. I've fished them from gin clear reservoirs to local ponds to the massive swamplands of Louisiana. These things get fish attention everywhere.
I'm still experimenting with rigging and application of each, but there doesn't seem to be anything that these baits can't do. I've fished all of them from top to bottem and I'm impressed.
Sorry Roadwarrior, I've tried all of them backwards and they just don't perform as well. ;D
Sadly, by October bass fishing will not be as good up here. But I still can't wait to throw these anyway. Very innovative action Big-O.
I'm not even gunna lie that's SICK
Sick is right. The new Rage baits SCREAM reaction strikes. I actually use the Craws and Space Monkies in a finesse-type role by putting them on a weighted hook. That is my most successful rig this year. As for the Anacondas, using the big ones weightless on top of the slop is something very, very special
BTW, the Space monkey, Lizard and Lobster on the video footage is all done with a 1/4 oz weight Tx rigged. This was by design to show the minimal weight necessary to achieve such action.
The first 2 clips of Anaconda were with 6/0- 3/16 oz keel weighted hook to show swimming action as well as rip and fall sequence. The last clip is 1/4 oz Tx rigged and swimming toward you. Wasn't enough time to showcase the rise and fall action of the Tx rigged Anaconda but believe me, it is awesome action as well, with any weight chosen.
Two sizes on the Anaconda, 10" and 7 1/2 ".
I gotta go fishin,
Big O
They look awesome.
Colors on Anaconda are plum, watermelon red black, red shad, june bug, green pumpkin, okeechobee Craw, red bug, big tex, double header and bama bug.
Big O
You might want to think about making those anaconda's in an even larger size. I'm betting the cobia fishermen would definitely be interested in those.

WOW! Big-O, looking at the video certainly confirms that you have achieved your stated goal. Great job! Can't wait to fish them. My arm is tired just thinking about it.
Hey Black Bass, must remember that part of designing baits is testing baits and that means FISHING. The more I design, the more I fish and "that's a good thang"
Now if we can just get them on the shelves so you guys can play with them too.
Big O

I like the action of those new baits in the video. I think I'll pick some up and maybe even do a little cut and paste with an old time plastic I have that fishes like a spinnerbait (even has sorta the profile of one going through the water), and replace the ends with that Rage Tail. I like the plastic but wish for a little more vibration. It might do the trick. I think I'll call it Rage Against The Unseen.
Big-O, just watched the video many more times. I can't believe the action. Watching the Lizard makes me laugh. That baits look like something is on its tail, and its hightailing it. The Space Monkey and the Lobster are also great. The Anaconda is going to catch its share. My impression is that if one doesn't get the bass one of the other ones will. They've sure caught me.
While it's not my kind of music, it's a great choice for your video.
When are the new baits expected to be out on the shelves. I guess I will need to purchase them all and give away all the unopened packages of soft bait I currently have!
What I've heard so far is that the expected release will be sometime around October. Details are sketchy right now and I'm sure that Big-O will keep us filled in.
SHAZAAAAAM! that space monkey looks amazing. here in the glades, that is EXACTLY the kind of bait i have been waiting for. can't wait to swim that thing through the pads.
Bocabasser, the Space Monkey is a master of deception, the only way you can fish it wrong, is to not fish it at all. He is a little Spazz Creature Frog with an attitude. ;D

Man the videos are a tease. What's taking so long with production? There's a big demand for these baits. Strike King needs to get on the ball and tighten up. These products need to hit the shelves I've got fish to catch.

Anacondas in PLUM I can't wait
Steve, It was great to finally put a name to a face with you at Icast. Man your new products look awesome!! Sorry I didn't get back to you the next am as I had some unexpected sales meetings. Your passion shows through your baits very well:) I hope you had a great show at Icast and it sounds like you did!! .

ICAST was unbelievable Mike and glad we finally met as well. I appreciate and thankyou for your comments, I enjoy what I do in bait designs but enjoy the friends and relationships that are developed because of it even more. You were one of my first new friends here at Bass Resource and a great friendship it has become.

Scrumptious looking baits, how many to a package and what stores carry them?? Cabelas? Wal-mart?, Sportsmans warehouse? My options are limited up here.
The rumor mill says October.
d**n thats too long to wait!!!

Might be just a little while Bassmaster_17, Rondef is right about October deliveries. #'s per package are going to be 6 of the 10" Anaconda's, 7 of the 7 1/2 " Annie's, 5 of the lobsters, 6 of the Space Monkeys, and 7 of the Lizards.

Have seen the video a numerous of time and couldn't really tell the difference between Lobsters and The Space Monkeys other than the design.
Either will be on my have to have list!
The biggest difference is the size. The claws on the lobster are pretty big and very aggressive. Another difference is that the space monkey is a frog-style body. The lobster looks like a craw.
QuoteI can't wait to give the Space Monkey a whirl!
The space monkey had me laughing out loud at how crazy that thing looked in the water. That's gotta get bitten out of sheer anger if anything. That thing is outrageous, can't wait to try it out!!!!! ;D ;D ;D
The space monkey is an evil flipping bait. If you laugh now, you'll definitely laugh when you pull that big fish out of heavy cover with that monkey beating it in the face all the way back to the boat.
Guys that thing is AWESEOME. I watched the video again and the Space Monkey looks like it's falling out of an airplane without a parachute! It just cracks me up watching it swim.
No doubt it'll be beating the face off of a fish on the way back to the boat after it calls him up out of some deep cover. That is the greatest looking soft plastic ever. Get em out here for us to throw before it gets too cold to use em!!!!
WOW! The action on all the new baits are top notch! The action on the anaconda is re-dic-u-lus
That's the good thing about Big-O and his baits. He gets something in his mind and plays with it and tweaks it until its right. And when its right, its game on.
The entire new line up from Rage Tail are high action baits that will get attention from bass, aggressive or not. Even on a keel weighted hook, the anacondas and other flipping baits have action on the fall. It is so slow and so wild that its unresistable. Try a craw on a keel weighted hook and flip it to shallow to mid depth cover. If there is a fish there and you put it in the right spot, they will hit it. This rig never lets me down. In fact, it has almost completely replaced senkos and light jigs in my box.

Forgot to mention BassMaster_17, I believe that all of the stores you mentioned will have them plus Bass Pro, Academy, Dicks, Tackle Warehouse etc. If I get good info on who has them at the earliest date, I will let everyone know, via a post or whatever.

Big-O was it your Anaconda worm that KVD used at the Bluegrass Brawl on Kentucky Lake last month? In the August 2008 issue of Bass Times, in the article "VanDam runs the table" it states "He also relied on Strike King's 3/4-ounce football jig ... and a new 10 inch Anaconda worm (green pumpkin) that he worked down the ledges."
Check out the ESPN Story, it sure sounds like it is the same worm. Big O?

Yep and he was using my hand made prototypes...All were the 10" models. He also used them at Wheeler where he placed 2nd and his story was in Bass Times Magazine on that one. I have several worm designs and Kevin was one of the big influences for choosing this particular one to debut first.
Since he and some of the other guys wanted this one first, what do I say ....."here you go". And the rest my friend is FUTURE.
I think I like their choice too, cause this design is my favorite Big Worm of all times

Big O
I just looked at the article again and see that he used a green pumpkin Rage Craw trailer on the Strike King 3/4-ounce football jig. Way to go!
I want them all . Should Bass Pro Shops have them in stock? I was at Dicks yesterday and didn't see these.
They will not be available until October.
QuoteThey will not be available until October.
No Offense... But read the whole thread :... some people don't pay enough attention to the thread before they ask a question. 8-)
Way to be paying attention ron ;D ;D ;D ;D
My local Gander had the Rage Tail Shad... I picked up a few packs of em, haven't got to throw em too much yet but they do have some very nice action and look like they'll catch lots of fish!
They are great for anywhere that you would normally fish a buzzbait...and in places that you wouldn't dare fish one. I use them pretty much exclusively for buzzbait style fishing now.
One of the big things to experiment with is the angle of your rod on the retrieve. Different angles will give you more or less action. Sometimes holding your rod tip down is the key. I have a bad habit about not trying all available options with them sometimes, so I say this a lot to help me remember lol.
It's gonna be tough trying to use them instead of the good ol' Cavitron (can't stress how much I love this thing)... But I will definitely give em a shot.
I still use the cavitron buzzbaits but the ragetail products seem to catch more bass. Plus I can throw them in areas that I can't throw the cavitron.
Those plastics look SICK, i want to get some of those.
Are they already out??? Those are a must buy
The release date is unknown, but thought to be around October.
My advice, until then, is to get the first line of rage tail baits. Yeah the new ones are cool, but the 'old ones' work great. The craws are my #1 producer this year.
Makes me wonder if anyone is gonna try and put them on e-bay for 20-30 dollars a pack LMAO ;D
The demand is obviously high and the worms are something special that the fish just haven't seen. You will get what I call a "what the hell was that??" strike from the fish
QuoteQuoteMakes me wonder if anyone is gonna try and put them on e-bay for 20-30 dollars a pack
Hey Bass Fin@tic, I don't think the Ebay thing will happen because SK is going to gear up on production on the Annie's.
BTW, Mike Ward won the FLW Stren series last week at Kentucky Lake on the 10" Anaconda, jig and Rage Craw trailer and dd22 crank. I think I like his bait selections.... ;D
Looks like he followed in right behind KVD's win with very similar lure choices.

Dude I can't wait to put the Anaconda in the face of some of those Texas Redneck Bubba Bass but I must admit that lizard is what I was really impressed with. Many anglers only throw lizards during the spring but I'll throw those dudes year round.
Oh yea ¼ oz is what I throw 99% of the time
