What are the lures you can no longer buy that you would love to make a comeback?
I used to love throwing the Heddon Mud Bug, but honestly I don't think I actually caught that many fish on them.
Berkley Powerbait "Beast"
A-Jay
Cabela's Mean Eye Jerkbaits
Probably going for the low hanging fruit here but Uncle Josh's pork trailers.
The River Runt in the smaller size. Just a great crank for river fishing, or anywhere.
How about bringing back Rapala crankbaits that cost less than $5
I never fished one but some old timers that would know said the cotton cordell king spot was the best plug going for a long time. I sure would like to try one
Renegade 4inch curly tail worms at Wal Mart...I have plenty of other options but these are very nostalgic for me

That one was a solid producer for me early one and currently sits in my own personal Lure Hall of Fame.

I still have a few and have caught numerous bass 5 to 8 lbs with them in early prespawn conditions . For some reason they havent worked very well for me at other times .
I'd like to see Manns bring back the 6 inch jelly worm . My number 1 bait of all time . ASlso the Rogers Big Jim in the smaller size . My number 1 squarebill ever .

I don't throw the mudbug any more been replaced by the Spro Rock Crawler.
The other oldie producer for me was The Hellbender ~
I thought that little spinner on the back was 'Magic".
Big 'floater' that one so it required a commitment to get & keep deep.
Great on the troll though.

There aren't really any that I'm falling over myself to scrounge for them on eBay or anything...But there's a handful of baits that are or used to be productive for me that I would pick up if they were readily available at normal retail prices...
UJ Pork
Rebel Deep Wee-R
Lucky Craft Redemption Spinnerbaits
Havoc Devil Spear
Yum Wooly Bully
Jackall Bling
WEC/Zoom Cranks - Would be nice to have some backups to the ones I like without paying the crazy prices right now.
Probably a couple more I can't remember too.
not ebay ...
Arbogast Mudbug
Arbogast Sputterfuss
Heddon Dying Flutter
Humper(I can't remember the company name. Basically a Cotton Cordell Big O knock off.)
Mann's Stingray grub
Rapala Countdown Jointed minnow(Lost my last one last season.)
I have an old Bass Boss tackle box full of Tom Mann baits: the hackleback series, the pig and hawg cranks, jelly worms, etc. I wish those were still produced.
The Spence Scout crankbait with the dual line tie...deep or shallow. I do even know who made it it has been so long.
Rebel Deep wee R , but make them so the hooks can't catch each other. Original Bomber, orange, with black herringbone.
I also would like to see the Rebel Deep Wee R come back and the original Rapala Rattling Fat Rap. These were two of the best crankbaits I ever had years ago.
heddon dying quiver
7” Optimum A.C. Mag Shad (‘cause I’d like to retire it) and the original Black Dog Baits Shellcracker
Oh boy let's see;
Paca toad sr. [Netbait]
Flappin' dad [zetabait?]
Cattapillar worms [bps]
Not a lure but a color, snagproof phatfrog in o.g. green.

I was at a local fishing flea market yest. And bought some of these as some guy had a bunch of them 3pks. For 5$
Blakemore CC spinnerbait in 1/2 oz.
Pretty sure they still make Mann's stingrays grubs
Mister Twister used to make a tube that had a lizard (or goby?) head. I don't remember the name of them but I still have a few being held together by Mend-It.
Also, bring back DTs in gold.
Storm sub wart.
Berkley Havoc Devil Spear Jr.
Berkley Havoc "The Jerk" soft jerkbait.
Berkley Powerbait Shaky and Slim Shaky worm
Berkley Powerbait Handpured Finesse worms
Spro Dawg walking top water bait
Lucky Craft G-splash poppers
Xcaliber Edwin Evers suspending jerkbait.
Rapala Deep Ratling Fat Rap
Bill Lewis Floating Rat-L-Traps with the diving lip about the size of Shad Rap on them.

Yes. Not sure why I had Heddon in my head.
I can't think of the name, but I used to have pretty good luck with a Mister Twister creature bait. Looked like a regular plastic worm, with a bunch of tiny twister tails along the sides. I started using them after Al Lindner won a B.A.S.S. tournament with them in '77. Anyone remember the name?

I use to have some of those and I dont recall the name either .
I always loved the look and action of the Timber Spin. Can't recall if I ever caught much with them.

The original wood Scout was made by C.A. Clark in the 1930s (One of mine, picture) out of Springfield, MO. I'm not sure of the date, but Strike King bought the patent and sold the lure under the Spence Scout name. Their first version was a plastic copy of the old Water Scout and later they lost that bottom fin. I fished with my dad's and grandfather's old scouts and they were killers.
I'd pay good money for 1 jar of these.
Rebel Ringworm
Bomber crankbait (the bait that looks like a mudbug)
Havoc Beat Shad (not very durable but small and potent)
Was under the impression that Rapala Flat Raps had been discontinued but maybe not....(?)
Arbogast Mudbug and Bagley 3" Balsa B - both the shallowand deep diver.
Rapala Crankin' Raps
Rapala Clackin' Raps jj

I bought a bunch of these when they were discontinued . I've had a lot of success on the square bills and the CR14 . They are a Storm design . Look at how the rear hook hanger is positioned . Not on the end but underneath like the Wiggle Wart . That might be why Rapala discontinued them so quickly . It wasnt their own design . Really good baits .
Havoc Devil's Spear
Pit Boss in Sapphire Blue and Lime-Purple Passion

I found a picture of them on EBay, but it doesn't show the name. It's going to keep bugging me.
I would love to see the a true (made out of cedar) Heddon Dying flutter.

I think that's the "Sintipede"
Berkley 4" Finesse PowerWorms, Berkley 4" PowerWorm Crawler w/ flat tail, Original Bandit Crankbaits colors and special run colors w/ G-loc treble hooks.
Junior D
I'd like for Berkley to bring back some of their older discontinued baits. The 6" Pulse worm comes to mind. Bring back the 8" Shakey worm, the one with the molded in tail, the one that would straighten out when you moved it and curled back up when you let it set, the one that I can't remember the name of. Bring that one back in Red Shad/green glitter and Blue Fleck.
While you're at it bring back the SOB ( small okie bug) short arm single spin, the 3/8 size with the slightly smaller than normal single Colorado - hammered either gold or silver would be nice.
I don't care about the Berkley Beasts - I didn't catch fish with that bait when it first came out, but it caught me and I've got 8 or 10 packs in a plastic shoe box somewhere in the fishing shed. Chompers used to be a very popular soft plastic bait, readily available in Walmart & other bait shops, not so much anymore. The Mann's paddle tail worm, the one that Ike used to win the Bassmaster classic, are still made I guess, but hard to find. I'm sure there are more, but I can't recall right now.

Boom, that's it! Thanks.

Black Firetail. When I contacted Mann's about it, they said something about it being costume made, and the store that did have them is no longer in business.
I would like to try one of those bass pro shops tornado spinnerbaits. I've never seen one in person but I d recall it has an oddly made blade and was supposed to been a fish getter.
Smithwick.....toothpick
Culprit.....motor oil color worms, found others that make a motor oil but it's not the same color.
i’m going back at least 30 years, but we used to use a plastic lizard made by Diamondback. they were about 5” long, and kind of thick in the middle, with a diamond mold on the back of it. my favorite color was a motor oil shade with black specks and a chartreuse tail. anyone else familiar with Diamondback brand lures?
Heddon Sonic. It was the first lipless crankbait I can remember using.
It's great to see folks talk about the Rebel deep wee r's and the wee r's. It's a bonus to have someone talk about the Rebel Ringworms. I collect these and fish all three!
I can say there is talk about bringing back the deep wee r.
I few I would like to see again.
Bulldog spinner baits
Sebile flatt shad 77 (suspending)
Sebile had one that was like a flatt shad with a colorado blade on the back (name unknown)
Manns Waker
Bomber long A with the little prop on the back.
Smithwick toothpick
Most of the old wood baits that were replaced by plastic.
(some of these may be found on fleabay for unreal prices)

My dad buys some of the regular (Bone color) Wee R's on ebay. I like em too along with the Super R's. I've got a few of em in my box. Would love to see them bring back the R series. I'd also like to see the Nip-i-didee come back. I've caught a lot of river smallmouth on that bait. Ton of fun on that topwater.

I hope they bring them back. I would like to see them in the naturalized crappie color. I used to catch fish on that color when they wouldn't look at anything else.
The original T-1 Terminator spinnerbaits. They’re discontinued, and it’s getting harder and harder to find them
The Berkeley power lizard of the late 90s. That was my go to night bait back then. There was also a soft plastic color, I believe they called electric blue, that I haven’t seen anything in for years. It was almost like a baby blue and white swirl. The worms I had might have been renegade. Closest color I’ve seen was in a Berkeley flipping worm and I think those have been gone for some time as well. Might be more of a nostalgic thing, but I caught a lot of fish when I was a teenager on those.

That is my favorite Deep Wee R too .
Great thread...bringing back lots of fond memories learning to fish with my Dad, Uncle, and Grandpa

I had one of those magical hotstreaks over a couple Saturday's last summer and most were on Lindy River Rockers...I got bit on other things, but the River Rocker was producing quality Smallmouth almost every cast. I finally texted my Uncle a pic of a sizable fresh catch with the lure still hanging out of the mouth and his response was "Is that a hellbender?! Those were great lures!"...much more interested in the lure than the catch, even if it's more Lazy Ike than Hellbender.
I was looking to stock up on more River Rockers this winter but it looks like THEY have been discontinued too...although I was able to find a small stockpile from various sites.
I was originally going to mention the IKE-CON worm...pre-rigged weedless worm that had a spiral action from the stiff rubber and the way they were packaged. My Grandpa had one tied on often and I still have a few from the early 90's. They caught fish. In any event, I was happy to see they are still in business, although I haven't seen them in a tackle shop for some time...maybe just my area.
It's killing me that I can't remember the name of this one topwater lure from the mid 90s. It consisted of a plastic or balsa cone, about 3inches long and 2 inches wide at the base and would float, and had "propellers" dug out on either side of the base so it would spin and kick lots of water when pulled over the surface...behind it was a dangling trailer hook with a long twin tailed grub or creature bait thing...I'm picturing a brush hog. Anyway, I don't remember catching many fish on it, but I remember being 10-12 years old and wanting that lure so bad...in Firetiger...it was pricey for the time and took me awhile to part with the $7-10 on a single lure. Anyone remember that thing?
I also admit to owning the Banjo Minnow...which did catch me a few fish.
XCalibur XRK 50 and 100 One Knocker
Megabass Leviathan
And many many others.....

One of my favorite bladed jig trailers. I'm down to only about 18 bags from over 30 2 seasons ago, starting to get nervous.
Many years ago (1960’s - 1970’s) I had a couple of old wooden Flatfish. Haven’t seen them around. Had good luck with them from time to time. One was orange; the other kind of a green, froggy-looking thing. Treble hooks were mounted on wires projecting from the sides. I should probably look around to see if they are still being produced. To be honest, I had forgotten about them until I perused this thread.
Another old soft plastic that was produced by Riverside. It was a plastic worm with a large flat serrated sickle tail. I believe it was called the big wag. It moved alot of water and drew fish in.
It is really cool to remember all these old baits from yesteryear. Wish the still existed. I see an opportunity for someone with a ton of disposable cash. Buy up all the old molds and forms and hardware from lures that get discontinued and bring them back under your own company. I can see it now (Vintage Lures Inc.)????
I have several of those Hellbenders too . Anybody have a Dalton Special we can trade .

I have a little of both. I also like their grasshopper crankbaits and poppers.
-Sebile FlattShad 1/2oz
-Strike King Grass King SB
-Tom Seward's Natural Ike flat-side CB
The old terminator Indiana blades. You used to be able to buy them separate but they are long since gone....
They are my favorite.
