This duck won best new hard bait. cant wait to see how this duck does.!
It looks cool, not sure if I am going to get it yet. I am more excited for their rat.
I just want one to scare the crap out of my boat mate when they think a duck landed right next to them;)
As for fishing I see it maybe as a musky lure, but not our bass up here.
I must be the only person who thinks that thing looks dumb af. Two whopper ploppers and a partridge in a pear tree lol.

I agree with ya, some baits like this and others are imo made to catch awards while lures like the StutterStep are made to catch fish.
I wasn't kidding though about the duck landing thing, watching the videos, it definately looked like a duck splashing down. Not sure that is a trigger for bass though.
Some people will buy anything. Just get the right salesman pushing it and there is a % who will inevitably jump on.
I will need to see quite a bit of video evidence of fish hitting that duck before I consider one.
I will admit I thought the SPRO rat was a gimmick when it won at iCast also, but that thing is a BAMF.

I don't mean to say it won't work, I'm sure people will catch fish with it, it just looks Fropwater Spinnercrankish haha
I'll take 2 please.
Pretty sure a bait like the duck thing is not likely to catch bass in the lake I fish where 1 lbers are common. Just don't make sense to buy a lure like that.

They have tons of videos of pike absolutely destroying the thing, but I'm not sure about it's affectiveness as a bass lure. Bass have been known to eat birds though, so who knows.
What grabbed me the most about both the duck and the rat was the ability to take off the bottom treble, and rig them with the stinger hook on top. I doubt I will get the duck but a semi-weedless rat will be huge. I love my Spro rat and it has really delivered but there are times I wish I could throw it into some slightly thicker stuff, these savage gear rats should be just the ticket. Plus the alternate line tie to get it to dive deeper when fishing more open water.
I'm eagerly awaiting the "paddling puppy" lure next year
Or the " nitro nutria"
I pre-ordered the small duck. I will post pictures of all the pounders that eat it.

Sure it will, they're not even that big. The small one is only 4.25" and 1oz. I've caught plenty of 12" fish (and smaller), on 7", 3oz glide baits.
The fish in this video are all pike (Mads is from Germany where there's no bass), but some incredible slow motion bites. I think a lot of thought went into this bait and really feel like it's going to be a good bass bait. Guys that live where pike and muskie roam are going to need at least a couple for sure.
Start around the 3:40 minute mark if you just want to watch the strikes.
i bet Itll catch some alligator snapping turtles, gators, and birds of prey. too.!!!
I'm amped for this. Going to the boundary waters in Sept.
I watched a bass strike at a duckling a few times at a city park, I instantly thought of this lure, but to be honest I've never seen that before so I guess it could have been a fluke thing, but it was definitely going after it.

Poor baby ducks I want to go Muskie fishing now...
I'm going to order the big one in the wood duck pattern. Can't wait to post pics of the dinks that I catch on it
Ok guys, here it is - the Suicide duck, Rad bait (rat), and more new baits from Savage Gear. Check out how they look in the water!
I have used the Duck colored Spro Frog which is essentially a bone color and I often wonder if Bass ever hit it because they think it is a baby duck.
I have never seen a Bass eat a duck, but I can say one thing for sure.
In my community we have 4 Ponds. 1 has really good Bass Fishing, ton of structure, Big Bass (average fish is 19"-4lbs) and 2 ponds have all stunted dinks since I use them to put all the small bass to prevent over crowding. In another pond about 2 acres, it has muddy water that adult ducks use and several big bass over 5lbs, and during the spring when Ducks have babies....
I have never seen a baby duck in the 2 ponds with big bass in them. The ducks use them all year long since none have Gators, but in the spring, they only use the 2 ponds that are full of small bass in the 10" range. Is that a coincidence? I doubt it. Those little Ducks are the same size as a Terminator Frog or the 90mm Spro.
with that said, I don't know if I would buy a lure that mimics a duck, it would depend on price, I think a frog does just fine for the size of brain a Bass has.

Yea I bet your right, good thinking
Have to admit the action looks pretty sweet. Might have to add one to the collection for kicks.
The Savage Gear folks are crazy.. in the good way. They are always going a little outside the box.
This thread could very easily be placed in the "Other Species" area. I would be much more inclined to fish it for big pike or musky than for bass and it is less...(ahem) "laughable" in that application.

For those of you skeptical about throwing big baits...Bass don't have to be very big to want a big bait. Both of these rat fish are equally as big as the larger rat from Savage. Both of the fish bleow are only 2.5-3lbs. ~17". I have the duck and rat on the way from TW as soon as they are shipped in.

The small one is smaller than a 130 Whopper Plopper, andhas a pretty similar action it seems. The big one is a big bite but no doubt little 1 pounders will still smack it. I've caught enough bass smaller than 2 pounds on baits much larger than those ducks to know there's nothing too big about them. Heck their 6" bluegill isn'tmuch smaller than my hand and 4oz, only thing that's hit it so far was a 12 incher.
LOL, still love seeing the "that's for musky," "you fishing for sharks?," and the ever popular "my bass aren't big enough to eat anything besides a senko" crowd doubt the effectiveness of bigger lures.
Carry on but watch once these things get in the hands of people who believe in them....
