Just picked a couple of these up today. I have heard there really good for this time of the year. Just wanted to know what you guys thought of them.
Thanks, Roby
First thing you need to do with those Super Spots is don't tell anybody else! These lures have been around for a long time and they seem to have kind of been forgotten about by most. The Super Spot is my most productive lipless bait. This time of year I really like the Rayburn Red color. I also use Chrome/Black back.
These lures have a pretty good rattle to them. What makes them killer this time of year though is that they keep their action at a slower retrieve speed. Also, when you kill the bait, it will still fall upright. Being able to reel it slow and pause the bait without it falling over is great this time of year. Good luck 8-)
Cool one of the colors i got was the chrome with black back so i will see how that does hopefully tomorrow. Thanks for the reply.

I like them for fishing over shallow weeds. They're a little lighter than similar length lipless cranks so I can fish them a little slower than I would a heavier bait. They're good baits but you don't hear much about them. Which is fine by me

Couldn't have said it better myself. In the world of increasingly expensive crankbaits, this is a forgotten gem. They're one of my favorite cranks, and certainly the cheapest. I buy them at WalMart for $2.50 because the local Cabela's and Gander Mt don't stock them. I would suggest swapping the hooks with something better.
Also, you may want to get multiples if you fish in waters with a lot of Northerns. There's something about the Super Spot, especially in Rayburn Red, that small Northerns cannot resist. I'm certain I've lost more Super Spots to Northerns than any other lure.
Yea the price factor is what has drawn me to them. I was told lipless cranks were really good then when i saw the price matched with the awesome quality they have i had to buy some.
Thanks, Roby
I bought a dozen yesterday @ BPS for $.94/each. You can't go wrong at that price. I catch just as many as I do with the SK Red Eye shad. We don't have a lot of grass on my waters. It's been very productive for me with the yo-yo technique. Crank/raise rod, then let it fall...BANG!!
I have a chrome/black in my tacklebox that looks like it was used as a target in a turkey shoot ;D ....and it still catches fish. I've kinda neglected it over the past couple of years in favor of the SK shad, but I still use it. A very good lure at a REASONABLE price.
Just went to GM and they had CC Super spots on sale for $2 each. I STOCKED UP!!

Spots are also my number one lipless. You can turn them into three different baits with a drill and some epoxy. You can fish them as is, turn them into a one knocker or make them silent.
To make it a one knocker drill a hole behind the hook hanger on the bottom and put a little epoxy in it.
Same thing for the silent but add another hole in front of the hook hanger.
Just make sure to let the weight rest on the bottom when the epoxy is setting up so it stays balanced.
One of my favorite baits for shallow, clear water is a silent 1/4oz. Spot.

Cool thanks for the tip.

One of the best designed lipless cranks you can buy - at any price.
Super spots are my favorite lipless crank besides the Bass Pro XPS Rattle Shad. They have a somewhat wider wiggle than a Rat L Trap and they sink slower. So I like them better for shallower water or above weeds. Rat L Traps are good but spots are better.
Anyone know where to get the more uncommon colors?
I think those are the best bargain baits ever made. Baby Bass is a long time best producer for me. I give these as presents to kids that are just graduating from their Snoopy poles to help them build confidence in hardbaits.
Replace the hooks though.
I catch more on spot than I do on redeye shads and rat-l-traps. This time of year my best color is a crawfish in red or orange.

I'm not one to say that about every bait, but the trebles on the one I bought last year were terrible. If you're buying Owners or Gamakatsu, with the Owner split rings, you'd be cheaper just buying the Rattle Traps. As often as I break off a lipless in a grass line, the cost of those replacements can add up. A red Super Spot seems to get bit pretty good in the spring, though.

Lure net has 14 flavors available
Recently purchased a couple of Spots in Red Craw from WM. Couldn't pass up a lipless at that price when you consider that they're less than half the cost of practically every other lipless crank. I usually fish a lipless slow, along the bottom over rocks and rip rap. They tend to get stuck every so often so I lose a few every year. Losing a Spot doesn't sting as much as losing an Xcalibur. The thing about lipless baits is that if you're not throwing them where there's a chance to lose them then you're not throwing them in the right places.
Spots are great. I have 2 boxes full of lipless and most times, I'll throw a spot. Royal Shad works particularly well for me on the days I'm not throwing Chrome/Blue or Chrome/Black
I have a 1/4 ounce Jimmy Houston signature Super Spot . Had a Half ounce one that just wore the bass out .It has a really unique chartreuse pattern .
They are a great bait. I have my favorite Rat-L-Traps duplicated in the Spots as well. They may be slightly different in action, maybe but the results are the same to me. Many of years my first bass of the season has come of a Trap or Spot.
I only own a few RE Shads but have had good results with them.
@scaleface,
Did it look like the attached photo? Had to take the photo at an angle for the chartreuse stripe to show
I have a decent selection of color patterns but I feel that I really only need a chrome w/ black back, chrome w/ blue back and gold w/ black back.

Its a bluegill pattern .
I had several 10-20 fish outings with them last season. Gold/Black back. I always replace the hooks on them.
This time of the year until April or so go red.
