For those of you who fish a craw by iteself (not as a jig trailer) what is your rig set up (i.e. weight , hook , etc.) ?
Last Friday it was a Crock-O-Gator Ring Craw on a 1/8oz Pro Slider head. Also had one fish flipping grass with a Berkley Changeup with a 1/4oz bullet weight and a 4/0 EWG hook.
I fish a speed craw on a 3/16oz. Bass X shaky head for a finesse deal.. Also on a 3/8 -1/2 oz wobble head.
3/16 or 1/4 oz bullet weight
Berkley Fusion19 Heavy Cover Hook 5/0
The same texas rig hardware that I would use on a worm of same thickness .
For punching matt's...3/4 to 1.5 oz weight, double boober stop, 4/0 or 5/0 Trokar TK 130 hook.
For heavy to scattered vegetation...3/16 to 1/4 oz weight, sometimes Fla rigged and sometimes T Rigged depending on cover, same hook.

Here's an interesting & effective option.

Anyone try the Drop Dead Craw from Luck E Strike?
Baby Paca Craw on a 3/0 EWG Gamakatsu with a 1/8-3/8oz bullet weight depending on all kinds of variables that us fishermen juggle in our brains. I also like using Zoom Ultravibe Speed Craws but only when I'm pegging it.
I will use 20lb fluoro and superline hooks if I'm flipping/pitching heavy vegetation or heavy cover.
I use a Rage rig ,Owner weighted keel hook. The weight is adjustable so you can control the fall and the way it sets on the bottom.
A jig rig ranging from 1/8 to 3/4 with a 3/0 Gammy Superline EWG.
Up to 1/2oz in open water the rod is a Phenix UMBX 707ML with a Lews Lite reel, 30lb PP w/15lb fluoro leader. From 1/2oz and up in cover or in really rocky structure it's a UMBX 707MH with the same reel and line.
There are about 2,000 craw baits in a range of sizes that will all catch the same fish. Pick the one that makes you warm and fuzzy and use it.
1/4 oz weight T-Rigged Chigger Craw or Yum Craw Papi. Go up/down from there based on conditions.
T-rigged, 3/16 oz tungsten bullet weight, black glass bead, 4/0 Gama EWG hook with a Berkley Powerbait Chigger Craw. I rarely use jigs.
Been experimenting lately with this. But so far I'm not getting as many bites as I do with the traditional T-rig.
It depends:
oh dear the possibilities of rigging are almost endless.

Paca craw or rage structure bug. On owner sled head or keel weighted swimbait hook, but mostly 1/4 bullet and ewg 4/0. Usually brown variation or black and blue
used to be a havoc rocket craw rigged on a 3/0 with a 3/8oz weight or just a kinky beaver with a 1/2oz for flipping

looks like a strike king swinging swim jig
Speaking of swinging swim jigs. Making my own with 5/0 Gama Weightless Swimbait hook, #3 Swivel, Skirt, Tungsten Weight, and of course pegged. Will probably throw a rage tail or speed craw too.
I flip, pitch, & punch with it

Couldn't resist
Umm, depends on where I am. In the creeks for smallies, a Zoom UV Speed Craw or Jackall Chunk Craw 3.5 on an 1/8 Chopper weedless stand up head or a Luck E Strike Perfect Finesse head. In our lakes up here without the gravel bottoms, Pit Boss on the same Luck E Strike head or a Craw bait, Rage or similar 4/0 EWG and 3/16 worm weight.
I really like those Jackall Chunk Craw though.
Great replies - I would imagine for those flipping / punching craws you are pegging the weight - for most all other applications dragging in open water the weight is left unpegged ?
