Im hopping on the swim bait train this year, I went with an Okuma Guide Series 7"11 H and a Cardiff 300.
Im looking for some productive baits under $20 bux, the thought of losing something at $30 and up would make me just want to cry. There are just so many choices.
Please Help.
Thanks.
Mattlures Baby Bass and Mattlures Shad.
8-)
I'd be looking at the 3:16 Mission fish as well. Can't go wrong with mattlures either.
The top two hard baits in that price range I can think of are Sebiles and Strike King's King Shad. I use both and have had good luck. I have found the King Shad seems to catch bigger fish, but that might be just me.
Look at the 3:16 soft baits. I believe all of his soft baits are under $20. Mattlures as well. These all are PROVEN swimbaits. With a $20 limit it's hard to stay away from the cr@ppy baits. But your doing the right thing by asking everybodys opinion first/ This will save you a ton of wasted time and money by buying horrible swimbaits. I would highly suggest raising the limit though. When swimbaiting, you don't want to put a spending limit on your potential. I'm sure after you get hooked you'll be willing to fork out $50 for a lure.... I know I did. And as far as loosing baits, you gotta pay to play. Buy yourself a $10 baitknocker and you will have a hard time loosing baits. I know in my 1 1/2 years swimbaiting, i've never lost a bait. Good luck man!!!
sorry to sound green, baitknocker? what is it and where do I get it?
thnks
Definetly Mattlures bluegill and baby bass. *** has a lot of decent swimbaits on sale all the time
I like matt lures, Storm's Wildeyes Shad, and I can't wait to try out the new 4" Tru Tungsten this spring!
Quotesorry to sound green, baitknocker? what is it and where do I get it?thnks
Some people call them baitknockers, some call them lure retreivers. They are basically used when you get a swimbait stuck in some sort of cover. They have a heavy weight and chains attached to the weight. It will either Knock the bait off of the snag, or the chains are supposed to grab the hook so you can pull it free. There are many brands of them, but here is the one I have.

It has saved me hundreds and hundreds of dollars already. Just be sure if you get this one that you retie both knots. The one that is on the bait knocker, and the one that is on the line retriever both have horrible knots from the factory.
Spro BBZ1 4" and Tru Tungsten 4" should work good up east.
I've had very good luck with Bass Magic / Shadalicious 4.5" soft paddle tails as well.
Huddleston 6" baits, 3:16's (several choices under $20) or matt's baby bass or bluegill
I just got the BBZ 4 inch shad in Natural shad and it looked so yummy!!! I'm about ready to fillet the sucker soI can't see how the bass won't want to eat it as well. ;D
BTW does anybody know where some video of the $20 Bluegill that Matt makes?

I am the anti-king shad in the flesh

Mattlures Woody series is on sale for $19.99 right now.
Mattlures bluegill looks awsome but 1.9oz? I don't think I have ever fished with a lure over an 1oz. Might as well tie a brick on there.
I would have to buy a new pole to fish with that thing.

That's what swimbait rods are for.
My vote would go with 6 inch Hudds and for a extra 5 bucks u can get the 8 inch
BBZ Shad
Strike King King Shad
A flipping stick can easily throw a 2oz bait. A big worm with a 1/4 weight weighs over an ounce.
As for baits under $20 First thanks to all of you who recomended mine .
Well obviously I am partial to my own but besides my baits, I think the 6in Hudd is a good deal at $15 and the 3:16 Mission fish are also good baits. Pretty much the rest are gonna cost more unless your talking about basstrix baits
lake fork live magic shad's have been good to me, i think they make some larger versions too, although i havent found them anywhere.
Does anyone know if those Mattlures Bluegill Swimbaits were available at Bass Pro Shops?
no they don't , tho they do have tru-tungsten swimbaits . go to tackle warehouse - http://www.***.com/swimbaits.html
A few years ago Bass pro sent me 2, 20 page contracts. I read them and was totaly not interested. They practicaly own you. Then this last Icast 08 I met with the main buyer and he was cool. He sent me a new , not as bad contract and I read it and considered it for about a week and finaly decided against it. When your as big as Bass Pro you call the shots and they do things thier way. We were close but I was spooked just enough to back out. Maybe someday.

This is a must have swim bait for the price. You will be amazed at the awesome swimming action of this bait. Only negative is they tear fairly easily.

Well you make great swimbaits and have a lot of support here.
Somehow it seems more special to support a small company.
In time, the whole world will know of your products. Your site is easy to find and buy your baits. Word of mouth will sell your products as long as fisherman share their secrets.
Truly great quality and affordable.
This may be selfish, but I would rather you keep your baits in the small companies. Once you go to a giant corporation like that everybody will be throwing your baits nation wide.... Matt, you understand how us Cali boys are with our swimbaits.... :-X .
