OK, so I broke down. There was a reason my cranking and both trolling batteries died while on the Chickahominy River and I was helplessly floating up river with the tide.
A guy in a Triton comes by and gives me a jump start. And while we are getting set up for the jump start we talk about fishing the Chick.
He told me he caught more than 30 bass that day so I asked him what he was throwing.
He reaches down into his boat and throws a Senko to me and says use this one, it is a killer on the Chick.
We get my boat started and dumb me, I forgot to get his name or phone number so I could send him a thank you note or call him and thank him once again for helping me.
I go on the Internet to locate the special Senko and it is not on Gary's web page. It is not at Tackle Warehouse. It is not on eBay. It is no where to be found.
I go to both Green Top and BPS and it is no where to be found.
Will, who orders the plastics for Green Top looked in his distributor's catalog and he can't find it.
The BPS guys are at a loss, too.
So I send an email to Gary's place and Brenda, the lady who handles the orders, and I start an email conversation. Seems the color is available but only in the D-Shad. And Brenda can't ever remember the color being available for a number of years, if at all.
I don't want to pay for a special run of this color Senko so I will continue to try to locate it on the Internet and try to find some Japanese tackle outlets to find out if the color is available in Japan.
So what do I do with the one and only Senko in that color? Not fish with it. Probably will frame the sucker and keep looking.
And they say bass fishing can't drive you crazy. Are they wrong, or what?

Who said that??? Of course they're wrong.
What about dyes or playing with some home-made color mod ideas?
It´s easy, you contact a custom lure builder and ask him to pour that color for you, take a look at Tackleunderground and there are guys there that pour real beauties.
I highly doubt the reason he caught 30 bass that day was because he had some "magic " color. But if it makes you feel better, go with it. You seem like you have been bass fishing a long enough time to know better.
What is this special color and why is it so secret that you can't describe it? I would point out that it hasn't caught a fish for you yet.
C´mon guyz, he WANTS IT ! isn´t that enough reason ? Death, taxes and TheBaitMonkey, 3 things in life you can never avoid.

I was thinking the same thing. Next time out, it will be another magic bait in a magic color.
shoot....I agree with ww2farmer and still... I want it, too!
Post a pic, please...
C'mon over to my garage Sam and I will hook you up. Only bout an hour away.

You pour baits ?

The sizzle is just as important as the steak. Me want it, too!
I have to see it. I'm not fishing with a poop brown/pink sparkle senko, no matter what someone's catching on it
I'm not even (too) ashamed to admit that if the guys in the next boat were pulling them in and told me they were rubbing their senkos in their butt cracks, I'd probably pull into the next cove and....wait.....nevermind......lol
I want it! Can you post a picture of it? Maybe WE all go in and have them made might make price lower.
Thanks, guys. Loved all the replies.
And yes, no guarantee it will work anytime at anyplace but we all love the "hunt" to try to find the bass and I want to "hunt" this bait.
Will be going about an hour away to have one of the guys see it and determine if he can match it.
This is a challenge now. Me vs. the Bait.
Bearpaw will make anything for you, as well.
I make all my plastics. And there are thousands of other guys that do too. In fact I make every lure I fish with except crank baits. It's very easy to do and color combos are endless. Like others have said color is over rated. The one thing he could have done is made it so it sinks faster or slower and that could make a difference.
Paul Crew custom baits. He can match anything!

That guy is a bait making stud. Check his stuff out. He's good. I believe he spells his last name Krew
I'm guessing it's not green pumpkin? Am I right?

I laughed so hard at the thought of a Mr.Hinkie Pro model senko- brown a "yellow corn" flake haha
I bet this guy had the rainbow sparkle unicorn scented Megastrike too haha
There is a bait shop in St.Charles county near St.Louis that has a special "Lake of the Ozarks" color Senko that is reputed to only be sold there. Maybe this is one of those? I have been there with a friend twice, and he has the biggest selection of GY baits I have ever seen. PM me if you want me to get you a number.
Take a look at BearBaits, they make CNC molds for nearly every soft plastic.
Break down and send the Senko to Gary and get a 100 made!
Tom
This is my problem too I'm throwing a senko and a bps stick o in a amber gold flake. It's hotter than Haiti here. The bass kill it. Now I can't find either one anywhere.
This thread would be a lot more interesting with pictures Hint Hint
I know who the teaser award goes to

Go to Do-it molds. They sell the GY senko mold. It is the exact senko you buy in the store. Put one of your senko's on their forum and the guys will tell you how to make it. If you use a lot of plastics in a year this will in the long run save you a ton of money and you'll never worry about running out. I make senko's for pennies. I even save my old ones and remelt them into new ones. And it keeps me busy in the winter.

Join the club!!!
I've got a little different take, I have not seen an imitator that is equal to the Senko, they also make a very impressive selection of colors. Isn't there a color that is currently available that would be very close ? Chances are that it will perform very well on that body of water, also it could be he was doing something different presentation wise . Last but not least he had success because he found the fish .
All that being said I've been there regarding having to hunt down a certain color or bait. One possibility is that certain tackle shops have exclusives on certain color runs for example Monster Tackle...

I'm intrigued. Pics please
Another thing that ruffles my chips is when a hot lure is discontinued.
The BPS / XPS TOPNOCKER and the BOMBER FAT A.
The topnocker is the hottest topwater lure I have ever used. The bomber fat A is the hottest crankbait I have ever used.
Now I fill a big box up when I find a bait that works better than the rest. I have a box of bomber cranks, a box of Norman thin n, a box of bps stick o, a few senkos, gambler ace, gambler worms, culprit worms, brushogs ect. My backup supply could over fill a mom & pop bait shop. Every time I learn a new bait or a new color that works I buy plenty of it. I show my son's and there spouses how to use them too. I keep them supplied too. I enjoy passing on what I find that catches fish. I enjoy seeing others catch fish too.
I notice we still haven't seen or recieved description of this mystery killer color haha
Brenda at Gary Yamamoto's office sent me an email and said:
"Our Plant Manager has figured out what color it is 975 Green Flash this is a new color and isn’t available until December."
Don't know how the guy on the Chick had some but he did.
Will have to wait until December to see how they look.
In the meantime I am hooking up with one of our Forum members next week to have some made.
I know the Zoom distributor and have gotten a number of colors before they were released to the public so I guess the guy who helped me on the Chick has his sources, too.
Thanks again for the replies. Some were good and others funny.

I don't know how to post pics on the Forum.
The Senko is a light army green and the bottom is a light pearl with green and silver sparkles sprinklered throughout the worm.
I will try to post pics but no guarantees.
Sounds like a souped up baby bass pattern. I've seen similar baits from many companies, though not with the sparkles. I'd throw it!
Nice detective work!
Good luck with them. For me, two-tone Senko equates to near zero confidence.....little experience...most bad
'975 Green Flash' was my second guess.

Sounds like a pretty decent pattern honestly, I am surprised that no one can identify it. The hunt must continue!
Is this it?
Allen
I would bet money that you could find that color on bitters bait and tackle website.....Bitter's is legendary here in the Florida market especially around the Kissimmee chain of lakes as they make alot of colors & styles of baits for those lakes and water colors...
They have endless amounts of colors, but as many mentioned, I doubt it was the "Color" that worked so well otherwise GYB would not have disco'd it and everyone would be buying bags on top of bags if it was magic....
However, confidence is key so if you think that color is magic, have a company pour some for you and you can have them take the extra plastisol and make some creatures and grubs in that color as well....What color was water where he was fishing?Shallow or deep? weightless? wacky or punched with 2 oz weight...so many variables, maybe he was using 4lb test and catching numbers, I doubt any color is going to outfish the green pumpkins, watermelons, smokes, blacks, and laminates in forrage patterns.
.

I actually have these worms in that exact pattern....light watermelon top with pearl bottom, light pink and green flake on pearl side, some have it thoughout the worm...it was purchased as a blemished color that didn't meet spec for the brand it is sold under...I can't download pics but it does work pretty good at times..The GYB watermelon green light colored laminate with pearl is a very popular color as well, these were errors but they do work well but are not magic.
sam put as much effort into figuring out how to load pics as you did tracking down this magical mystery one hitter quitter senko and this thread will be going somewhere.... i'd still like to see this unit!
I don't wanna be left out. I want it too.
Have it you do, fail to exist how... Yoda want's to see it also.
Right here found it???

There was someone back in late spring swearing by that green flash... I mean he was livid over it.. He too, was searching hi & low.. I remember seeing those kits in spring, but my DSG never restocked them....
Yamamoto makes "Pro"series colors a year or so before they are available for general use.
If you know a pro sponsored by Yamamoto, contact them. My source is Don Iovino products, I am sure he can help you.

Stupid question could you buy the d-shad in that color and melt them repour into a senko mold ? Considering doing this for a zoom specialty color .

You could but not if its a two color laminate like the Green Flash Sam is looking for.
Yeah, green flash is exclusive to DSG. You can get it in their senko kit or in the pack. I have a few packs and have to admit, it's a hot color. Almost as good as watermelon magic.
I have a Bagley DB3 that rattles but is marked Bagley DB-3 on the bottom instead of the "heart" symbol that it should have being a rattling model. Somebody done goofed.
Maybe he told you a fish tale ?
