Just curious as to everyone's favorite top water for largemouth?
Well last year it was a Pop-R.
Cavitron buzzbait or Zoom Horny Toad for me.
here in sc a spook is about the best topwatter bait.
Thanks to Derrick I'm thinking mine is going to be the 3:16 Baby Wake this year ! LOL.
Jitterbug
Smithwick Devil's Horse
Pop'r
Chug Bug
Tom
It´s not the Jack of all Trades top water, there are baits that can be fished in pretty much any surface condition with much much better results but hey, I like the Jitterbug.
last year it was a spook but i'm going to be throwing frogs and buzzbaits a lot more this year
Coin toss
frog/buzzbait
Frog
I like them all. I'd use a frog all the time if it worked all the time. My best bait last season was the Chug'n Spook, Jr in frog pattern. I usually fish a weedy reservoir so frog stuff works pretty well.
In wide open water I like a buzzbait best early and late. Pop R is a good one for me, then the regular Spook.
Oh, I also had a 50-fish day on the Torpedo last spring. They wanted a continuous retrieve. I had to fix the propeller a few times because they kept knocking it out of whack. That was a place with a lot of little bass and I think they were males protecting the nests. It was overcast and even sprinkledain.

I just bought a Jitterbug and a Hula Popper. Getting back to basics!
Frog / Pop R
Mike
i love throwing a frog, no doubt about that. BUT i also had a lot of fish on the megabass dog x last year.
Cavitron Buzzbait
Megabass Pop-X
Believe it or not, Ive had the best luck with a good ole Whopper popper..
That and a like to fish frogs..
popper, buzzbait, and frog. I don't consider wakebaits topwater, but I'm really warming up to them.
LC Gunfish
zara spook
frog
buzzbait
Weightless Gambler Big Ez
My favorite is a Spook
My #1 producer is a black, double blade buzzbait
It use to be the Zara Spook, then the LC Sammy, but for the past several years the Megabass PopMax has ruled!
I hardly fish any other topwater lure anymore, but I still carry others "just in case".
What ever they hitting on!
Ivino Splash-it, a bone colored spook, or Kermit D Frog.....
Pop-R ,Chug Bug
pop-r (change the hooks)
cavitron buzzbait
LC Gunfish
Jitterbug (change the hooks)
frog
LC wakebait

Well, I guess I consider that a different class of lure, but I am a HUGE fan!
Spro popping frog.
1. Jitterbug
2. Zara Spook
3. Prop bait, either Devil's Horse or Torpedo
4. Popper (either Pop-R or L&S Jointed Popper)
5. Frog
In that order
BLACK JITTERBUG ( The big one ) And a spit-n-image
super spook jr + megabass pop max
I'm not much of a topwater fisherman but I had good luck last year using the rage toad and rage craw as topwater in some small ponds for bass and pickerel.
KVD Frog
Rebel spook
Cavitron
Buzzbait...But looking forward to using the whopper stopper in June
Right now is the Spro Rat. That thing just gets bit, I was getting bites on it in February!!
Booyah pad crasher................I don't fish treble hooked topwaters anymore.................heck I don't even own any right now.
Yellow Magic popper
In Florida this Feb. it was the pop shadz - 100 bass up to over 7lbs. They were warming up to whopper plopper and spook when I headed home to the hills and brown fish.
Can't beat a Heddon Torpedo w/upgraded hardware. Or a LC Prop
Pop R in the morning, Pad crasher during the day, Jitterbug at dusk/dark is my favorite combo.
An interesting thread to read for sure...
I've caught more topwater fish on a buzzbait than anything else.
Do I have to pick just one!!!! Spook, Horny Toad, whopper plopper to name a few!!!!

In my neck of the woods "the big one" is a Musky size Jitterbug.
buzzbait
Hollow body frog followed up closely by the 90mm Whopper Plopper. But that may change with the smaller versions of that Spro Rat.
1) Hollow body frog
2) Pop-R

That is wright! I fish the big black Musky one! KILLER- why wast your time one the little one. I just change out the hooks to VMC 5/0 .
Weightless Zoom Trick Worm-the "floating worm"
Zoom Horny Toad
It's hard to beat watching a bass blow up on a horny toad. Watching the fish swim away chomping on the bait trying to kill it is an added bonus. Seeing your trick worm disappear in a swirl of water is always cool, too.
Super Spook Jr. color dependent on what type water I'm fishing. Lately though the Pompadour out produces everything.
I like Mann's Hardnose toad or Zoom's Horney toad.
Any small size mouse type of bait with a tail, joint optional!
Whopper plopper and frog!!!
gunfish
cavitron black buzzbait
Hollow body frog- Booyah Pad Crasher
Popper
Buzzbait
Frog
For plastics, the Rage Shad has been ridiculously good to me. Love it, and I'll fish it forever. Megabass Popmax in Bone for a hard topwater bait.
I like the horny toad.. they're on that thing like a bum on a ham sammich.. Hard plug style I would have to say badonk-a-donk but for me that's in the salt.. do walk the dog topwaters work on bass or do you need a chugger?
Strike King grass frog
Jitterbug
Swimming mouse
Super Pop R
Topwater prop bait
The whopper plopper is my favorite last year I caught so many fish on them.
D&M buzzsaw it will go through anything
If I can run down a bank with a Cavitron and catch fish, I'm happy.
I love top water! Some days all I fish. In south florida off matts nothing like a good frog. Ishs phat frog is a great frog. I also like Spro and booyah. Live target makes a nice frog. Zara spook Jr is a great walking bait. And I fish that a lot too. And a buzz bait is great I have great luck with top water. And a good popper and jitterbug. I love to fish day or night. And top water is always how I start
You know I haven't tried the whopper popper yet. It looks like a great little bait
I've got one of the big Yamamoto tate sticks that looks like it was dragged behind a truck from fish last year. Love a lunker lure buzzbait and the original scum frog in natural green
Bone Pop-R, Bone Spook, or a black buzzbait.

I can't wait to try the Whopper Plopper out this summer...
Frog, Ultravibe Speed worm, Floating Rapala...Bagley bang o lure and prop...Rebel Pop'r and Red Fin wakebait. Long A
Pop-r all day.

Pop-R and Chug Bug. for me.
Yellow Magic has been the most productive for me.
Any of them. Catchin bass on top is the most fun you can have with yer knickers on.
Live Target hollowed body frog.
This year excited to try the new hollow body sunfish to see if it works as good!
My favorite would be a cabelas walking dawg. It flat out catches fish, and the explosions in open water are heart stopping!
Used to be just Stanley ribbit frogs but last year I swore I would try and learn hollow belly. And although I don't have the hookup ratio with all brands of frogs the live target feild mouse slayed fish for me last year. The small size is the easiest hollow body to walk the dog. Can't wait to try my new sunfish by livetarget. Last year the kietech noise flapper frog also was another thing I threw that looked really cool in the water and will be adding as a change up to the ribbit frogs.
God so many to choose from love them all! Lately I've been killing it on the tiny torpedo. But love spooks frogs popers buzz baits. Florida impact lures have some great wooden plugs and top water baits too

Pop-r and Chug Bug
I'll toss in another vote for the Chug Bug. I've caught so many big fish on those things. Upgrade the tail hook to a red VMC feather hook and you're golden.
I've used a lot of poppers over the year's, for me the #1 producer is Chug Bug followed by #2 x-rap popper.
Spook in bone
Bone Spook Jr.
Pop-R
Frog
Cavitron Buzzbaits all the way. I really like some of my jointed pencil baits, but the caivtron takes the crown.
Top 3 would have to be a hollow body frog, rapala skitter pop, and the Sammy style walkers
Super spook jr......bone is a stand bye for me, but baby bass works good too. Lately I've been tossing the Rapala skitter walk in a brown trout color. Killer. don't know why cause we're at least 300 miles from the nearest brown trout, but the guy at the tackle shop said to try it, and so I done did.
Yellow Magic popper, the small one in white shad
