So when do you use Creature Baits? I have never tried them and was just curious to see what there uses are and which ones are the better ones? I like Yum's products. I have their hawg tail bait or something like that. Just t-rigged or carolina? I am just ignorant to these baits but very curious
I've never done anything else buy t-rig them. Normally use the zoom brush hogs, but I've got a surplus of hogg assassins here right now. Good style of lure, it can mimic a lot of things and can be worked a ton of different ways.
flip em t- rig
I always use a Rage Tail Space Monkey with a 1/4oz to 3/8oz weight depending on the depth I'm fishin.
I totally forgot to add the space monkey. I haven't caught anything on one yet, but I'll be damned if they don't look good in the water.
So zoom, and rage tail space monkey
Texas rigged, anything other brands? Just flipping them around weeds and stuff. Slowly working them on the bottom or dancing them?
I fish the Kreature weightless everywhere I fish a senko with great success.
Zoom super hogs, Reaction Innovations Sweet Beaver, etc. I use these for pitching to weeds/wood cover with a 3/8-1/2 oz weight depending on wind/cover. I normally pitch it out let it hit bottom, twitch is 2-3 times and flip it back out. Sometimes the fish will hit it on the fall as a reaction strike. Sometimes they will hit it when you are hopping/twitching it.

netbait b-bug
You guys are super helpful, keep the advice coming
I am a Brush Hog or Reaction Innovations Sweet beaver kind of guy.
I see you like yum...
the yum sooie is one of my favorites! awesome action and profile
the strike king space monkey has been put up there now also
Texas rig 100% of the time
Are the sweet beavers at BPS by chance I don't usually order stuff online but we have a BPS a/b a hour from us. I like YUM, ZOOM, & SK the most for my baits they make quality stuff IMO for the price. Some of their stuff is junk but do like a good chunk of their products
BPS has "beaver style baits" ... BUT not the one they are referring to above... Reaction Innovations Sweet Beaver is basically found online, I've seen some dick's carry them but not all.
But if you get a beaver the R.I. beaver is a great one... good colors too.
i t-rig beavers all the time.
but..... you can put any creature bait on a c-rig and whoop up on em.
To me the netbait b-bug looks just like the sweet beaver. Im sure there is something different but i cant tell from the pictures. Maybe size?
If you like Yum you should try the Yum Whooly Bug works great.

Put the creature bait on a c-rig with an 18 to 24 inch leader and a 1/2 oz weight. Drag it around on the bottom in about 4 to 6 ft of water in spawning flats. Make sure you pull to the side when working the bait and also set the hook to the side. We caught 33 fish this way this past wknd. The best fish was 9+ lbs. Our best 5 was 25+ lbs. Good luck.
A new bait I'm excited to use, and will use this weekend for the first time is the Xcite Raptor Tail Craw. It has a body like a beaver, but it has big pincher and tentacles at the end. Another feature is that it is loaded with scent, not salt, so when you stop the bait on a bed, or however you are fishing the bait will rise off the bottom like its in defense mode. Should be great to carolina rig to with its buoyancy too.
I'm surprised no one has mentioned the Roboworm creature..

Tackle Warehouse has the RI Sweet Beavers. Great baits. T-rigged, on a non-skirted football jig, and as a jig trailer.
I have used the BPS knock-offs of the Beav and have had success with them as well.
I fish creature baits often, mostly t-rigged and dragged or hopped along the bottom. My new fave is the rage tail smokin rooster. The action on these things is incredible, even with the most subtle twitch of the rod or twist of the reel. Since they've come out, i've almost always had one tied on with great success.
I've also done well with assorted brush hog type baits. I've had the best luck with the hogs weightless, and just dead sticked on the bottom. Throw it out, hit the bottom on slack, and if the fish doesn't get it on the way down, just let it sit there. For some reason, they just seem to pick up the brush hog baits.

wooly hawg tail.
Yup, those be the ones...

x2! those look great!!
I ran over to BPS tonight and the only one that I saw that I really liked was the Gambler Ugly Otter 4" in Money craw b/c I like the look of the pumpkin and green. I have a ton of watermelon, black/blue, and junebug so I thought I'd try this color. These things look good. I have a pack of wooly hawg tails in Black neon red too (I've had these for a while though)
Here's the Gambler:
I like Berkely Crazy Legs Chigger Craws and the Power Hawg.
Later,
Good call on the Ugly Otter. Super flippin bait.
yeah gonna give it a try in the morning gonna get out on the lake at dawn
I use the Reaction Innovations in the SaltWater for Calico bass. They seem to work well across the board :-) .
+another for the Space Monkey
I t-rig it from weightless to 3/8oz bullet weight, to anywhere in between. You can drag it, swim it, twitch it, and even buzz it on the top pretty nicely. It's my search bait
I generally use a little weight, so the legs flutter on the fall as well as the retrieve, but I did just fine on Sunday rigging it weightless.
Well I got one fish on the ugly otter this morning and missed about 3 more! I was fishing it on a carolina rig. I will be throwing these again!
