As the title says, what line do you use for jerkbaits?
Ps. This combo will be used only for jerkbaits
I use 10 lb. Sunline Reaction FC. Never had a problem with it.
#12 Sunline Super Natural
suffix 10 seige
Lotta guys like fluoro for jerkbaits, but I like mono because of handling and stretch w/trebles. I see why in clear water some might want the non visibility factor of fluoro, but mono is not high vis by any means, and there is not need in my situation to get extra depth so I use mono. Generally I use Stren Original or Seagur Senshi is quality line also. As for #Test I use 12, but I've seen guys on FLW use as light as 8 for visibility reasons.
I use 11lb Defier Armilo. Your favorite mono in .025-.028 diameter should work well. I would stay away from fluoro because it will drag the front down, since it sinks. Stay away from braid because it won't give when you get a bite and you'll miss a bunch because you rip it away before they have it.
#8 in Tripple Fish mono..
Mostly 8# fluorocarbon, usually InvisX, unless I'm around heavier cover (usually not). Did play around this weekend with braid using a fluoro leader while jerkbaiting - worked better than I expected, but need to test a lot more before I would consider switching from fluoro.

As light of a Mono as I think I can get away with.
fluoro
Light weight braid with a mono leader.

The front of my Vision 110's don't drag down with fluoro...
InvisX 10lb or 12lb
12lb Invizx

8lb. ~ 10lb. Berkley Big Game Mono or Sufix Elite ...It will do just fine , easily found and won't break the bank !
Usually 10lb.sniper, although I've been using 11lb Defier also, really impressed with it.
10 or 20lb braid with a fluoro, leader (usually 10-12lb)
12# Fluoro seems to do the trick for me.
Let's see what line KVD, arguably the greatest jerkbait fisherman around, uses...

Well, other pros may disagree. The pros that I met at Bass University all recommended
monofilament line.

This.
I have used anything from 6# to 12# depending on the weight of the jerkbait and what other factors I may take into consideration.
8lb fluro for smaller
12lb fluro for bigger
10# CXX

That's why I had "arguably" as opposed to "unarguably."
I am a fan of Fluoro, because of the sensitivity it gives you on slack line. When you are pausing the Jerkbait for 30+ seconds in cold water, feeling that light tick from Smallmouth gently mouthing the lure is the difference between catching a fish am not even knowing he was there.
I know and I am not disputing you or KVD, I'm just saying there are a lot of different opinions
even among the Elite. I'm thinking Yo-Zuri Hybrid might be the perfect compromise!
I guess I never thought of KVD as the best jerkbait fisherman. I suppose I never really thought about before now, either.
This fall I switched to seaguar senshi mono and it seems to help the hookup ratio. It seems to be a good medium between most mono and fluoro. A little stretch, just enough.
10lb Big Game.
I use 2 jerkbait combos
6' 8" M/F Ethos/Mettle
6' 2" M/XF Avid/50E
Are you throwing a suspended or floating jerkbait?
As for line type, I like mono due to the treble hooks.
As for line test, depends on what you want the jerkbait to do.
8-10# mono
i'll be testing out some 8lb yo-zuri as soon as it arrives and i get the first chance to hit the water!
previously i used straight braid 20lb. it works, but does pull the bait out of the fish's mouth more than i liked.
10lb braid/8-10lb fluoro leader
