Good call,  I have one of the Red Ltd edition Tatulas, but I like the blue better.

Time to start don´tcha think ?

I´m a Shimano fan, actually I own more Shimanos than Daiwas but one has to admit that below $120 Daiwa beats the living schnitz out of anything Shimano has to offer.

fishing user avatarfisherrw reply :

next year if he wins mabey they should consider giving him a steez

He fished with Tatula combos so that's probably why that's what they gave him. Also,my tatula gets used way more than my steez. It's has a bit too much hype following it.

In the past the only thing that kept me from buying Daiwas  was the cost when comparing apples to apples. It's looking like that tide has turned.

Looks like another new Tatula reel under the Cabela's label.   The link up top will take you the specifics,  has a few more bearings than the Type R and comes in an 8.1 gear ratio.

I like the blue better than the red on the type R, may have to look into one of these.

It wasn't that long ago that everyone was saying you needed to be north of $250 to get a decent Daiwa.  Personally never believed that as I have a Procaster 100HN that listed for about $80 (paid $30 on closeout), and I think it is a good value at more than the list price even if it isn't light like today's reels have to be.

Actually during the classic when he won he was cranking on a steez with the Rapala DT. Then later switched to the Tatula.

That's a Tatula combo in his hand.

And again a Tatula with a Dt crank.

fishing user avatarSenkoGuru reply :

Daiwa knocked this one out of the Park. I'm just like the rest of the fishermen here and have so many reels to fish that it is crazy and the one reel I am reaching for time and time again is my Tatula Type-R. I LOVE that reel..

Looks like a Steez EX to me. Video at 1:24. You can tell because it's not black, it's the steez color of the off gunmetal.

Tatula isn't really black either. More of a charcoal. The Type R is black though.
fishing user avatarGrantman83 reply :

He was using both if I remember when warning the vids. STEEZ with his Livingston and Tatula with the Rapala

fishing user avatarbass1980 reply :

That picture speaks for itself. Obviously a Steez.

fishing user avatarFlipSide reply :

I wish I understood why the human race always feels the need to be correct and "proving" someone wrong gives us satisfaction.

OT, that reel is pretty sweet.

fishing user avatarrippin-lips reply :

The first pic I posted is definitely a Tatula. The other pics could be a Steez. I can't tell on my phone. Pretty sure him like the rest of us don't have 20 of the same exact combo though. So to make you feel accomplished I present you the award for the King of the Internet Super Sleuths

fishing user avatarwordty reply :

OK, I am going to have to get a Tatula...I need a new 6.4.1...what model is best and most economical and where to get one?  I am convinced after all the reviews on here that I need to try one...suggestions (I know there are R, H, or whatever different models)?

Ebay or Amazon will have the best prices on them. The 6:3:1 model is the 100H for right hand or 100Hl for left handed.

Wow I thought it was a friendly debate. Didn't have to come back with childish remarks because you are wrong. Wasnt my intention to make you look bad. People always correct people on public sites so there isn't misiformation floating around but I guess some people get mad when they are wrong. I've been corrected before, no big deal.

I apologize to the OP. Was just reading down the comments and had to add. Not that it was ever said but it was leading towards Daiwa made this tatula for him because he won with the Tatula. Kind of like that whole Livingston and Rapala debate. YES I know neither matters on how he won or what will work for you.

fishing user avatarrippin-lips reply :

Not mad at all nor did you make me look bad. The first pic is a Tatula. You can tell by the top of the frame. It's smooth with no cutouts and you can see the distinct shape of the tws line guide when it's closed. You can also tell by the knob shape and the drag star. There's nothing else to be said. As for the other reel being a Steez. Like I already mentioned in a previous post. I can't tell on my phone. It's 100% a Tatula in this pic.

fishing user avatarbass1980 reply :

Lol my words were he started out with a steez and later switched to a tatula. Go back and read it. This will be my last reply since you are correct he didn't used a steez. Here the close up pic of your "tatula".

fishing user avatarrippin-lips reply :

Okay so what point are you trying to make here? He was using both reels at some point in the classic. So we both have valid statements. I'm finished with this convo. Time to crawl in a hole and cry.
