I'm trying to find a reliable baitcasting reel without breaking the bank. I want something that is strong and will last quite awhile...
a used trion in good shape.actually you might be able to ebay one new for 80.
How about a Shimano Citica? It's not on your list buy you can pick one up for $85 with a rebate. It's a good, easy to use, solid performing reel.
The Shimano Possee recomends the Citica which is close to your pricing point:

abu garcia pro max. With mag breaks, and a $79 dollar price tag, I talked to a rep Sat. that said they were hurting the Revo S in sales
If you are considering used, then a Citica should be on your list and it should be your choice!! Hell you can almost get a new one for the amount you are looking to spend with the rebate in effect. No Brainer!!

Especially with that ROKIN rebate!!!
From your choices I would go with the "used" Trion.
If you can find a good used trion for that price maybe get it. I do not have experience with this reel but do have experience with several Pflueger spinning reels.
I do own a Citica and for $85 to $90 it is an excellent reel and it would be new. As long as you don't buy via E-bay you would know for sure its new and WHO you bought it from.
Spend $5 more and buy an Abu Pro Max. Or the Silver Max.
I do not know a company named DIAWA, but there is one named DAIWA that makes the Exceler. I have a Silver Max and have used an Exceler. The Silver Max is a really good reel, but in this price range, the Exceler is a great reel. My question to the Shimano Posse is, if the Citica is such a great reel, why does Shimano have to give a rebate(that places it in the below $100 price range) for people to buy it? ;D

doh!
ok, i've added a new choice... the Accurist II. These are on tackle warehouse for $75 and used for around $50 in great condition...

ok, I'm starting to realize we have quite a few who like shimanos.... please don't ban me for saying this, but...
I went to BPS yesterday and was not impressed with the Citica! :-X
Granted, I have not casted one but just holding and reeling I was more impressed with the Abu, Quantum, and Pflueg... IMHO
Sorry guys, no Shimano's in the Poll! ;D
(also, I've removed the Daiwa's... didn't like the twitchin thing...)
Banned?
No one's getting banned...
We have lots of guys who fish the WRONG reels! :

I have a couple of Accurist II that I have had for 6 plus years or so, I know I need to up grade, but they have worked well. I have replaced my other ones with upgrades. IMHO I think you will enjoy the Acc II
I just bought a few Accurist II's last week; 2 Accurist CX's, 2 Accurist PT's, and an Accurist PTS. I have used Abu Garcia all my life, and had a few Revos. The Revo's were just too small. I love the Quantum's. They are smooth, palm well, and look cool too. The are aluminum framed and best of all(for me), they have centrifugal brakes that are adjusted without removal of the sideplate. You can get the Gold Mist color at Walmart for around $30-$40 new.

really?!?! I haven't seen them and I have 5 WalMart's within a mile...!!! I ought to take a closer look.... I'll be back! ;D
Not on your list but I have a Cabelas Prodigy ( made by daiwa ). I put it on a rod I carry in my trunk for fishing emergencies : I have been very plaesed with it. It was $64.
I think you can buy a new BPS Rick Clunn reel for less than $75.
Is it just me or is the Citica the size of a grapefruit and weigh like 5 lbs? :-/
My vote also goes for the Accurist II, I currently have four of them. I have never had any problems with the reels, I am thinking about buying a few more.
Mack
and the winner is....
$55 shipped (new in box)
I would have got a daiwa megaforce or exceler- I own 3 megaforces and really like them you can't beat them for the price I like them better than some of my higher end reels.

Ha Ha I agree unless its a 100(1)D- I am a lefty and outta luck as citca doen't have a lefty 101D only righty 100D, I really like my curado 101D. The 200's in citca and curado feel rather large-
I liked the Megaforce but it was a graphite frame. Noone around me sells the Exceler which was another one I was considering but I heard it feels cheap in your hand.
I went with the accurist because of the frame and the braking system. Can't wait to try it out. ;D

The tackletour guys seemed to like it also:

I hope I like it that much... that will give me reason to purchase another... :
thanks for everyone's input... (even the Shimano guys... )
I feel I've made an educated purchase...
I was in the same boat. I could not decide between the Exceler and the Accurist. I had 4 Revo's, awesome reels, but too small for me. I took my G.Loomis BCR803 and MBR783 to the store to get it right. Once I mounted the Accurist's on them, I loved the way they felt. I have fished all but the PTS already, and they are great reels. I just wish I had figured it out before the Revo's(S,SX's, and STX).
Love it... will buy another! It took a few casts to get dialed in but now casts effortlessly and feels stout when catching fish. I just need to get my drag dialed in and I will be set... I definatley recommend this for a sub $75 reel... woo hoo!
congrats FLB. I hope it lasts many a year for you!
I love those reels, but when I was shopping I ended up choosing a Bass Pro Shops Extreme and I have never been happier with a baitcaster. I haven't owned all that many, 5 or 6 maybe. I'm comparing this reel to the Abu Garcia Ambassadeurs I've had, and a Quantum, Marado, and Shakespeare too. This BPS Extreme beats them all.
I am glad you are happy with it. I love mine. I actually like CX's more than the PT's. The PT's are in the boxes for now. They look darn cool too!! Here are three of mine.
