I'm sure there has been posts on this before, and if so I appologize.
I just bought a spool of Seaguar red label 15# fluorocarbon from my local Gander Mountain. I figured Id try fluoro on my jig rod for a while to see if I might like it compared to the usual mono.
What is everyone's experience with this line? I have no line conditioner, and it'll be going on a MH/XF Cellus, if that matters at all.
It's pretty stiff for mainline, but just fine for leader.
Its a decent inexpensive line. Terrible abrasion resistance from mu experiences with it.
I use it exclusively for leader only.
Put some L&L on it and use it for a day to get it broke in and I think you'll like it.
I use it in 20#
Never had a problem with it, 12 and 20lb dia.
I use it, but for leaders only. It's been great for that. I have no problems with it.
Thanks guys. Not too sure what I want to do yet. I may just return it.
I have it on I believe all my reels now. I use it as main line and haven't had any problems. I've been using it for a while without conditioner and really liked it. I do now use kvd L&L an like it even more now.
I spooled a reel with it while waiting on my other fluoro to get here. I thought it was awful. Stiff, lots of memory, not very sensitive.
I liked it pretty well but wouldn't go too heavy in it. The 15 you got is about as heavy as I use it in. You have to be careful tying it, seems to really be sensitive to heat damage.
Not a fan. I'd use it for a leader, wouldn't use it for a mainline.
I use it for leader material, but that's the only thing I use any fc for
Spend 8 more bucks and get Invizx.
I liked it quite alot until I tried Tatsu. For the price, its good line.
I use it in 10# for leader material ahead of 30# Power Pro on my finesse spinning rod setup.
I just ordered some to try out too. Invizx and abrazx add up a lot over the course of the season.
I haven't had any problems. I use line conditioner on it.
I just re-spooled up with 15 on a 50E... On soft cover only though... I have this one rod... And this line just frigging turns it on! Red label... Not a huge fan... I can deal with it though... Iam wondering about the Tatsu or whatever it's called.. Idk... Iam use to 20 pd Yo-Zuri if you can fish it? You can fish anything!
I used it for mainline for a year and a half...pretty decwnt stuff especially for the price. I never had any issues with it and i did not use line conditioner
Pros:
Cheap
Decently sensitive
Cons:
Stiff
rather stretchy
I tried invisx and tatsu and well they rock but it costs twice as much. Red Label will treat you well especially in its pricepoint
I believe Im gonna throw it on the spool and try it out.. Might as well, I already bought it. If I end up liking FC, Ill get a spool of something better later on.

Only thing about this is...if you don't like it don't give up on fluoro. I see a lot of people buy a lower priced fluoro and not like it and assume it all handles the same. Not saying that you will, but a little higher priced fluoro like Invizx or Sunline Sniper is a world of difference from Red Label. I think the best value priced fluoro is Sunline Super Fluorocarbon. If you want fluoro on a budget then I would try it!
And you WONT like it till it breaks in!!!
L&L is your friend if it's ill handling
It's ok as a mainline. Like others I just use it as a leader now with braid. Been good so far and plenty sensitive for me.
I put the Red Label on my Sellus this morning. Went out and landed a fish close to 4# with it.
I dont wanna speak too soon, and my opinion could always change with time, but so far my first impression is pretty good.
Seemed to have very little memory right out of the box. Sensitivity felt ok. After playing the fish to the bank, I grabbed my line to pull the fish up, out of sheer habit. Fearing a break off, I quickly let go of the line and lipped the fish. My palomar held up to that. All I can do is continue to use it, and see how it continues to pan out.
Biglblock....you wont have issues with the palomar knot...been using it forever with flouro. Ive yet to have a knot failure with it. Jusy lube it and tie it right and you will be fine
