If you had to pick ONE reel, ONE rod, and ONE spool of line (brand and lb test) for ONE whole year of fishing, what would it be. You don't have to own it, or have ever touched it.
u lik dis 1?
F6-69X THP Super Destroyer III
Medium Fast, ¼-1 ¼ oz., 12-25 lbs.
This is the third generation Super Destroyer, our flagship model. With redesigned rear grip, cork handle and faux marble finish, it has transformed into one of the most distinct looking bait rods in the series. It is powerful, yet surprisingly light and perfectly balanced, if there is anything you could not do with other models, you can do it with Super Destroyer.

Shimano Core 50mg7 paired up with a Shimano Cumara 7'2 MH extra fast, Spooled up with Sunline Super Natural Monofilament in Jungle green 10lb test.

Daiwa TD Ito 103M
Evergreen Temujin 66MH "Air Driver"
Sunline Super Natural 10 lb.
Loomis GLX BCR 853.
Abu Revo, Avail spool centrifugal, 7.1 Duralumin gears from the Akatsuki Elite, orange seal bearings, ceramic Pawl, BassArt carbon handle, Carbontex swept handle, custom anodized swept drag star, and a custom paint job. Some sort of half green/half bronze-ish color scheme to represent large and smallmouth bass.
Yo-Zuri Hybrid, 10lb
The reel is going to be a winter project.
The rod....I'll just stick with the my Mossyback version of it.
It would suck picking just one. I would miss having a spinning rod.

Abu Garcia Revo Premier

shimano metanium Mg DC
daiwa steez STZ711HFBA
sunline 12# machine gun
Heck i'd like to fish it for a day
Since you didn't limit us to ONE species, I'd have to go with a spinning rig... Sahara 2000 on a 6'6" Compre MH with 8 lb Stren. Will work for everything from crappie to walleye.
STEEZ 103HA Reel
STEEZ STZ701MRBA-FL Rod

In thinking about this thread I've come to the conclusion that the baitcaster really is more versatile.
It just seems like even spinning tackle presentations can be accomplished on baitcasting equipment.
And it isn't visa versa. I can't see pitching a jig with a spinning rod, and I honestly can't stand using moving baits with a spinning rod.
Cranks etc.
Evergreen Super Stallion. Daiwa Steez 100SHA. 55 lb Samurai Braid.

Daiwa Steez 100SHA 7:1 reel
G.Loomis MBR842 7' MedFast rod
P-Line CX Prem 12# Moss Green line
If you're surprised I didn't pick a Steez rod, then go fish a MBR842 against any Steez rod and you will understand. But this is ONLY if I have to pick 1 setup, otherwise I will definitely have several Steez combos with me.
Shimano Calcutta CT100B
Shimano Crucial CRC-X610MH
Berkley Big Game 15# Mean Green
For what I mostly do -places I could stay happy:
-MH spinning rod (8-15lb)
-Wide-spool reel
-20#braid w/various leader materials:
This combo is always with me, it has caught hundreds of fish from 1# runners to 40+# tarpon, used sea walls, piers and surf.
7'6 Hurricane Redbone med 8/17 with a Abu Soron 40, 15# PP, 30# Ande leader, also my longest casting combo. Not my prettiest or smoothest but prefer it to my Stradic and Cabo of same size.

More versatile ? NO
What most people like ---> yes
I would have to go with a baitcasting setup. This combo should handle almost anything I would want to do with it, with the exception of large swimbaits.
St. Croix Legend Extreme 7'MHF
Daiwa Steez
12# Pline
This will sound nuts, but if I had to use just one rod and reel, I'd pick any decent 3000 series reel, and very nice MH/Mod. fast rod. I'd also have six or seven spare spools with various line choices. This set up would allow me to fish everything from light baits, to cranks, to frogs, to jigs, to whatever. It wouldn't be the best, but it would actually work for most everything in my tackle bag and allow me to fish any line from 4lb. fluoro to 40lb. braid.
core 100 flipping
cumara 6'8 mh x-fast
30 lb power pro
Mine would be BCR854 GLX paired up with a Curado 200e7, spooled with 12# Yo-Zuri.
Never handled any of these items, but with the reputation of Loomis's I can tell I would like that particular rod, and I already love my Citica, so why wouldn't I love an even nicer reel?
Now I'll open up the thread to a spinning AND casting combo.
My spinning would be a Crucial CRS-X68M paired with a Sustain 2500, 6# Yo-Zuri.
6-6 mh johnny morris signature serie with a pflueger patriarch reel spooled with 40 fireline braid.
If I had to pick JUST ONE, I think i'd crawl under a rock from all the stress! ;D
Practically speaking, I'd say a Loomis MBR 843 GLX, Daiwa TD-Z 103H (of some form) and 12lb P-Line CXX would cover a HUGE spectrum.
I said a Crucial, but I just saw a Damiki Dark Dark Angel 7' MXF with a Stratic c14, and it was very cute....
....I might have blushed a bit ;D

I had a VERY hard time choosing just one. MBR852 came in very, very close 2nd behind the GLX BCR853. But it would be with the Calcutta 50GT
Dobyns 795 / Revo STX / 65lb Braid / 25lb CXX Leader
for the rod - Reaction Strike super magnum custom wrapped ( fuji micro guides ; spiral wrapped , fuji ACS reel seat , eva spit grip )
for the reel - Abu Garcia Revo Toro 51
line- Izorline XXX 25 lb. test in ''smoke'' color.
i love to throw big baits , so this set-up would be my favorite choice . btw, i have 2 swimbait rods already , but will have this rod set-up in about 2-3 weeks !!!!! ..................
2010 revo stx on a 7' m vendetta rod w/12 lb vicious fluoro in my opinion there is nothing better for the money, but whats that saying about opinions?
