I haven’t really heard much except for what I see on YouTube and they don’t tell you much. I been looking around for a finesse reel not super fineness but curado70 fineness. Which is what I’m thinking about getting, still not sure, I actually use a shimano casitas for a lot of some what fineness presentations like the big TRD and weightless rage menace’s and weightless flukes, it cast really nicely for these presentations. The problem is the frame, lack of sensitivity in the hand and it’s not the smoothest on the retrieve which is why the tatula 100 has me Intrigued.
What are your thoughts on the new tatula 100 and your expectations what will you use this reel for.
It will be similiar if not identical to the current tatula ct performance wise with a much smaller, more comfortable frame.

This is what I am expecting as well. Maybe it will be smoother, quieter and nicer than the CT reels but we don't know yet. I hope it uses the same spool as the CT reels. The Ray's Long cast DIY is impresive from what I hear.
Yeah this is going to be one of those deals where you just got to wait and see, I don’t want to buy a curado70 if I have a better option just yet. The only issue is I’ve only fished mainly shimano for the last several years so I don’t know if I’ll be happy with the change? But I want to try and see what diawa has to offfer and I’ll probably start with this reel unless shimano makes some changes to the 70 like adding micro module gears maybe or something, I see myself trying this reel out for what I consider finessey lighter lures see what happens?

You can always pick up the Scorpion 70 based Engetsu if you want a 70 reel with micro mod brass gears. I have one in the slow ratio on a Zodias ML. The spool is shallower and heavier than regular 70 spool but casts well with 20# braid.
With a line capacity of 150yds12lb mono, I'm curious how it will handle lighter lures myself. Not exactly a shallow spool lol.

After ordering the curado dc I want to stay in just under that 180/ 170 mark the next time I feed the bait monkey I did see them for a lot of conflicting prices on eBay but I’m not into it I don’t like the look of the reel and I don’t like the knobs also it’s meant for jigging in salt I’m sure it cast well but not my cup of tea.
Edited by BurrosDC is next for me. The new Tatula looks well engineered and crafted all around. My main concern is start up inertia. I can tell just by spinning the spool that it is going to slow down at the right point to prevent overruns. But there’s no way to know how light it will start up.
If you want smoother reel, of course get Daiwa, but lack of sensitivity in the frame? You might not find that in any reels except magnesium frame reels. The Tatula 100 which base on old steez frame is pretty comfortable to palm, it just a tad wider and taller than curado 70. When I had my CT type R I like the reel for heavier bait 3/8 oz and above.
If you get Tatula remember you don’t need the line over 100yds whatever line size you prefer, The more line the more weight on spool. Heavier spool and heavier line would effect casting distance for lighter lure.
Sensitivity effects from reel frame is an interesting concept. I don't palm reels as much as many, so haven't thought about that. I do have strong feelings about sensitivity transmitted via the reel handle. I feel that i sense many, many bites first in the fingers that are on my real handle....even on my most sensitive rods.

Interested in hearing how the Tatula 100 will handle smaller crankbaits like 1/4oz Bandit 200 ? I've got a couple of Curado70's for Trig and Jig rods but always looking at options
I bet an SV model will be released at the Classic.
IMO Current gen tat SV would be better for any lighter weight applications. This new 100 is geared towards more of a standard ‘workhorse’ pitching, casting, definitely feels idk how to describe it, maybe stronger than the CT and CT Type R from what I remember. Gears are definitely a upgrade. If your a Daiwa guy these knobs will feel weird first time you grip them. Idk if I like them yet. You can also still do the levelwind bearing upgrade if you choose same size as the rest of the lineup... I wouldn’t be surprised if they take this and go type r then soon after a SV. Version. Current SV spool fits. *edit I’m a little sour cause all these models they’re releasing they’re not offering all the gear ratios in lefty yet again. I need a couple more 5:1s

You can always get the Ray's Studio Long Cast spools for the reel. The new 100 is backwards comparable with the CT spools. The Ray's Long Cast spools for Tatula/Fuego CT are $35 on Aliexpress or around $50 on Ebay. The Long Cast is just a deeper version of their ultra shallow spools BFS spools.

What are the advantages of these spools? Throwing lighter lures?

Yep, lighter weight baits. The spool is light weight and it has an SV spool like Air Brake mechanism and a thinner induction rotor to brake less than an SV spool. The shallow depth also helps to keep lighter pound test braid compact and resistant to dig in. The build quality is a little sloppy on the Air Brake mechanism and the inductor can wobble on the cast making these spools noisy on the cast at times. Performance per $ is really good though.
I don’t have digital calipers to check, but supposedly the new tat 100 and CT variant spools are actually different by 1.5mm idk I don’t see it it fits in mine???

The spool appears to be the same diameter as the CT spools. Here is the half of a frame from the 100 and half of a frame from the CT with the 100 spool. I'm assuming the CT is not an SV in the pic. Hard to tell with the lighting but it looks like a regular CT.

Do you think if I want to throw as light as 1/8 oz t rigs I should go with the Tat SV?

Hmmmm...I’ll see, I have both reels and the aftermarket spool that I use in the CT. I’ll switch them out and let you know.

I think they changed the edges of the spool to keep line from running off the spool and into the gap between the spool and sideplate (because it does happen with super thin line on the CT, until you get used to it)

I don’t either, but I have the spool and the reel, and since you insisted I risked getting in trouble for opening Christmas presents before Christmas and not only opened the box, but then opened the reel. It definitely fits. And if you thought the Tatula CT has tight tolerances, forget it, It’s not even close to the tolerances of the 2018 Tatula. I can’t believe how snugly the left sideplate fits. It’s completely reengineered and uses much nicer materials.
I ordered one to play around with. These look promising!

Is there a difference in line capacity between the honeycomb and the solid one? Looking at the website it looks like it's the same, unless I'm reading it wrong?

Same. There is an even shallower spool than those though but that is as deep as they come for the CT reels.

Thanks! For some reason I figured the honeycomb had less capacity, not sure which I’ll get now...
Line capacity is overrated. But for some reason the USDM loves to see big numbers in the stats. I personally do not enjoy catching fish that feel exactly the same as attaching the hook to the back of a car that is driving away.

You don't enjoy catching fish that pull drag ? That's a new one on me...

Yes, it is often over rated, but in some cases is still important.

Hi from Australia!!
Did you need to remove a shim for this to work? (Saw someone post about it in another thread)
I’d like to be able to throw lighter stuff on my 2018 Tatula with a bit less effort (and more accuracy too).
I’m pretty sure this is what I need:
https://s.click.aliexpress.com/e/bZeboghK(not too sure as I think they just put the year numbers in for keyword matches not actual product comparability?)
edit: found this on eBay https://rover.ebay.com/rover/0/0/0?mpre=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.ebay.com.au%2Fulk%2Fitm%2F122603323610
(i assume they’re just the same spool)

No. It just pops in and is ready to go. You could just loosen the zero adjuster if it fits too tight.

They drop right in and are very popular spools for the reels. There a 40 something page topic on the spools on the tackle tour forums if you want to read up on them.
Sweet thanks guys. Will report back how it works out for bream fishing (6lb braid, 4lb leader & light baits), hopefully it’ll work for trout too!! But if not I’m more than happy to buy a shimano calcutta conquest bfs!
uh oh, may've ordered the wrong spool!!
the title is:
DAIWA TATULA CT TYPE R TATULA CT CS FUEGO CT 2019 Tatula 100
but the details say:
This spool can be used in the following model:
DAWIA TATULA CT

The one in the picture above says that and it fit in the 100 zero adjust.

Same spool dimensions. The new 100 and Tatula/Fuego CT reels have the same spool size. Its the old Tatula 100 from 2012 that have the wide spool. As long as you order a spool for at CT reel then you should be fine.
sweet thanks guys, i'm a bit of a bait caster noob
