Ive been hearing all kinds of good stuff on the KVD line conditioner. Bought a bottle yesterday. Followed the directions from here and the You tube videos. I really cant tell a difference. Line is still a curved memory mess. My casts didn't seem to change at all. Really never had any problems with distance or backlashes in the first place. Am I missing something or?
Btw. Line is 15 Seaguar fluoro.
Might just be the line too. Try this, spray some copious amounts all over the spool the night before and let it soak. Just before you get ready to fish, spray some more on it. See if that helps, if not, get yourself some better line.
I regularly use it on 6#, 12# and 15# CXX. It makes a huge difference. It is worth the cost to me...
I apply the KVD Line & Lure Conditioner whenever I spool new line.
I think the stuff is amazing!
What about Reel Magic? I use to use it years ago on my spinning gear with Mono and it worked. I haven't used it in years though, so things may have changed. How does the KVD compare to Reel Magic?

I am with you on this, because i bought a bottle last year and started using it on all my setups. Honestly, I couldn't tell any difference.
I tried the RM, I like the KVD better. On 8/2/2012 at 7:12 PM, mabasshunter said:What about Reel Magic? I use to use it years ago on my spinning gear with Mono and it worked. I haven't used it in years though, so things may have changed. How does the KVD compare to Reel Magic?
To get the most out of KVD here is what seems to work best for me.
I re-spool usually once a month, depends on the line/setup but FC gets used more than anything.
I will tie the line on the spool, spool maybe 20 yards and soak the line with KVD, then spool 3/4 full then soak again, then complete the spool and soak again. Maybe 15 sprays total.
I will let that sit for a few days, then sray a few before I use it.
After about 10 casts everything is great, and I use the bottom barrel Vicious FC
KVD makes my Stren Mono 8# silk!
If you do not like it, I will give you my address
Reel Magic is just silicone like WD40. The way it works is that it lubricates but actually slightly degrades the line hence softening it. KVD L&L is a coating that bonds to the line. KVD works better and is safer for the environment.

Yeah, Reel Magic, if I remember correctly smells like lighter fluid.
I love the KVD L&L conditioner also but remember it isn't a miracle in a bottle. I will tell you guys I fish with that tell me they don't see any difference use it as an alternative to respooling and I find they are trying to condition line that has been on the reel for over a year and is loaded with memory. When I spool my line I use a spooling station and I keep a rag near me that has the end of it soaked in KVD L&L and as the line is going on the reel it first goes through the rag held by my two fingers and then before I go out I give the reel spools a quick spritz, this keeps the memory from getting bad on mono and it seems to help with casting on my braid.
Shake the bottle
shake the bottle
shake the bottle....

Exactly right. Reel Magic is petroleum based and just coats the line. L&L is a blend of polymers and will not harm the line or your reel. I think if you stick with it and try the suggestions that have been given, you'll find that it works very well.
That reminds me, the other thing about spray lubes is they contain petroleum distillates to make them sprayable. These sprays actually dissolve grease so don't get them anywhere near the internals of a reel.
I just got some last week and I could tell a big difference in it. There was less line memory and I could tell my casts were longer.
My line is about 2 months old. When I say I cant tell a difference in casting is I am getting some serious casts as it is. Backlashes are minimal. I guess I will respool in a few months and give it another shot when the line is new.
Thanks for the help

X2, and I reapply while fishing. KVD line conditioner works great. I'd recommend it to anyone who's not already using it.
I use and have great luck with the KVD L&L, spray it on the night before, and again when I get to the lake, works like a charm.
I swear by it. I douse my spools the night before my trips. Baitcasting and spinning.
I have mentioned this before, but does anyone else feel like KVD L&L is almost the same thing as Armor All?
expect for the smell, it almost seems the same...
It works. I accidentally got some in my hair, it also made that soft and manageable

LOL, that was great. KVD L&L is pretty much a MUST HAVE for me.

I use Armor All on my line. I will have to buy some KVD and see if it works any better.

Up top, you dirty ol' buzzard
worth every penny. I use alot of cxx and can't imagine not spraying that stuff the night before.
I spray KVD line & lure on as I am spooling line onto a reel...fairly heavily. I make sure the line gets completely coated. Then I spray each reel down the day before I go fishing. I think it works fantastically well.
I'm a form believer in kd line conditioner....Apply a heathy coat when initially spoiling flouro throughout the reel. I also use seaguar, #15. If you're still having trouble try improving the Indian nit the arrow.
Sorry for all the typos, this smart phone makes me look not so smart so far !
i did use kvd line conditioner til i found out about reel magic, i spray reel magic the night before i go out the next day and the morning of....all my reels no matter what type of line cast effortless and like a dream.

I'm pretty sure delaware is correct. A lot of these line conditioners are just silicone spray in a 10 dollar 4oz bottle.. this might explain why they neglect to list the ingredients of their line conditioning product. I used some home depot bought silicone spray shot onto a cotton rag and ran the line through it the last time I re-spooled and had good results. However, maybe kvd's is something better? No clue.
Yes it does work, but so does hot water. Hot water is a bit more temporary, I'll soak my new mono spool for about 15 minutes then spool up my spinning reel, then completely troll my line out before fishing. That's it I'm done. Mono line is only used with certain lures that spin 360 degrees, I will troll my line out at the start of every other outing. I do nothing with braided lines.
Well there is no doubt its working for people. Hopefully I will notice a difference soon.

I was apprehensive when I bought it, but it really did make the 15# Vicious FC less stiff, and cast a little better.
I like it, still think it is armor all however, but will use it on my lines I guess as long as I use FC, but I feel like just using MONO for everything is going to be what I do, works best overall I feel.
I believe once you re-spool you will see the difference.
FWIW, once a week I use it to clean my rods, the eyes, the shaft and the reel. Works great, keeps the stuff working and smooth.

But does it thicken your hair? Mine is too thin to be manageable.
