I need a rod under $150 2024

fishing user avatarAbuGarcia-4-Life reply :

Ok I can get some stuff wholesale like I can get Daiwa L&T for $85 and Carrot Stix for $90. So I am saving up for a Revo S and need a rod for it, I have heard great things abt the Bass Mojo, Carrot Stix, Vendetta, Bucoo, Skeet Reese, and Carbonlite. So I know im never gonna get a straight answer so what rod should I get FIRST????

EDIT: Add Quantum Superlite ^^^^^

fishing user avatarGrey Wolf reply :

Buy the rod that is going to best fit the techniques that you will be using.

fishing user avatarBrianinMD reply :

Bucoo

fishing user avatarBASSclary reply :

Bucoo. I own one and believe they are the better of the afore mentioned rods.

fishing user avatarroadwarrior reply :

Shimano Crucial is a good choice

You SHOULD get the rod free for purchasing the shirt....not a fan

From what you had listed I would say Vendetta or Superlite....the Carrot Stix and Bucoo are nice too.  It all depends on what you are gonna use it for

buying a rod based on a popularity contest is never, ever a good idea.

1. VENDETTA

2. CARROT STIX

3.SKEET REESE.

4.BUCOO.

Since you won't tell us what techniques you will be using , here is a list of what order to buy  for your fishing pleasure.

fishing user avatarAbuGarcia-4-Life reply :

the Skeet Reese rod is a crankbait rod at best, not gonna be good for singlehooks...I'd say go for the Vendetta

fishing user avatarSoFlaBassAddict reply :

Really, you need to go to a store that stocks the models you are looking at.  Pick them up and give each one a feel.  Lots of places will let you stick a reel on it if you ask them.  If not, bring your own.  Asking people here for opinions is great, you can try to narrow down your choices.  To get the best answer though, YOU need to handle them and make the decision based on which feels best for you.  Not everybody likes an uber light rod, some like a little more heft to them.

ALLSTAR  ;D

fishing user avatarAvalonjohn44 reply :

I have the skeet reese worm/jig rod, and love it.

It is excellent, I use it mostly as a spinnerbait/crankbait rod though.  I would also mention to take a look at some St Croix rods...

fishing user avatarAbuGarcia-4-Life reply :

Thx for everyones input an im gonna check theese rods in my local store and unless the skeet reese is amazingly better feeling im gonna get the Vendetta

fishing user avatarrepper reply :

If you can get the Daiwa L&T for $85 you should get it. give them a test at the tackle shop. these rods have been around for a long time, and at $85 are a really good deal. i think they are much nicer than the other rods on the list. check them out. they are reasonably light, and i've used the frog rod for years, caught many fish with it, and it's as good as ever. i've also had the jig and worm rod for years now, and while i've 'moved up' with my rods, these rods are a really good deal at 85 bucks. at least check them out, and you'll feel what i'm talking about compared to the other rods on the list

I agree.. the L&T will out fish any of those other rods and is simply a HELL OF A ROD for that price. there is nothing fancy about the blank or guides but just a high quality well built rod that will fish really good for you.. in all truthfulness I fish my L&T Frog rod as much if not more then my Steez froger.. sure its a lot heavy but the L&T I can really lean in to with out fear of breaking it. and with a 8+OZ reel it balances nice and feels fairly light in hand...even tho its a heavier stick the balance nice...I have used the frog rod for punching really really nasty stuff where im scared of breaking my high end rods and with braid its sensitivity is fair and you will have no problem feeling strikes... plus you will love the feel of the reel seat...

fishing user avatarAbuGarcia-4-Life reply :

I just baught a Quantum Response ($50) and a Vendetta ($80) combo for $35, fished is yesterday cheap reel but throws great and the Vendetta is great, im gonna get a Veritas now

fishing user avatarGrey Wolf reply :

Good for you.

fishing user avatarAbuGarcia-4-Life reply :

Ok on the vendetta there is a molded grip which i do not like at all, is there anyway to take it off and just have an open blank grip? Ik this sounds stupid but i jus hate this grip

fishing user avatarSoFlaBassAddict reply :

Molded grip? Are you talking about the reel seat? Or the foam portion of the handle?

fishing user avatarAbuGarcia-4-Life reply :

Where I put my fingers on the reel seat under the reel. It looks seperate like i could get it off somehow

fishing user avatarflippin and pitchin reply :

Rods are like shoes.  You can probably come close just applying your shoe size but trying the shoe on and walking in it for a few minutes will help you know if it realy fits.  The rods you mentioned as options are really very different in feel, actions, flex charateristics, reel seats, and so on.  Try to put them in your hand if you can.  There's quite a selection of rods under $150.00 that are tremendous values.  Good luck.

No, you'll ruin your rod.  Since the Cumara is outside your wheelhouse, get a Carrot Stix if want a split reel seat.

The current Carrot Stix rods are apparently being discontnued and replaced by other models.   The current rods are being discounted to $79-89 at Tackle Warehouse and Cabela's.

The Vendetta has a good reputation in my bass club.

fishing user avatarAbuGarcia-4-Life reply :

Yall need to shut up cause I go fishin like evrynight and like every saturday with my dad. And I don want a carrot stix they break way to EZ thats why Im gonna get a Veritas or Verdict

You shut up and just go fishing with whatever you get a discount on and enjoy the rest of the summer before you have to go back to school.
