Awesome rod! Spectacular craftsmanship.
Sweet!
My wallet is terrified. I have a Sol and a Fuego that need matching rods!
Cgrinder, I just got some new thread in that looks like a perfect match for orange/red color Fuego. Just sayin'.......lol
Continued......
The parts are dry fitted and then assembled using epoxy paste adhesive.

The guides are attached temporarily. The rod is static tested by placing it under ever increasing load and guide positions are adjusted to achieve a smooth line flow spreading the load across the length of the blank. Sorry I didn't get a good pic of this step.
Test casting, Guide wraps, decals, finish......

Thanks for looking and Thank you RW for the opportunity to build for you and share the results!
Thank you!
Beautiful rod

VERY cool !
Slime time. Then give us a review.
I wish I had the money to get one built. I need a better all around rod. Lol
A custom build doesn't have to break the bank. Email me what you're looking for and a budget range and I'll get back to you with what can be done.
Sooooooooooooo nice

My budget would be $150 or lower. I would have to sell some stuff to get that much.
Nice job Mike! Great looking rod.
$435 all in including shipping.

lol that price does not include a stella.

Don't be scared off by that price. He has $100 just in guides, or close to it. You can do a custom build for considerably cheaper.
Mike will work with you, there are many options to stay within budget.
To keep this in perspective, my rod cost about the same as a G. Loomis
GLX. I don't feel like I paid any premium having the new rod custom made.
I have been experimenting a little with a couple of options. I think I'm probably going to go
with a Stella 1000 rather than the 2500, but they are both in play for now.
A 1000 sounds pretty good for what I expect you will be using the rod for...
Either will cast nicely with that guide train, and when it comes to finesse fishing there's no such thing as too light. A 1000 on a 4 oz + rod fits the bill.
I love my 1000s for fishing for smallies!
Very nice looking rod, gents.
Kent, I'll be interested in your impression of those guides, after you get a few miles on them.

Tip your waitresses; I'm here all week.
My rod was built to balance with the 1000FG Sustain, and is out of balance with the 2500 on it. I also Have a 7' MHXF Avid I had built for a 4000FG at the time Stradic, with a 2500 on it I actually think the rod feels not just out of balance but less sensitive, and heavier. I have noticed the same thing with a factory 6'3" MXF Legend Elite which I really would like the 1000FJ on it, but it ballances better and feels lighter with the 3000FJ, which is the same weight as a 2500FJ. There seems to be little difference with 3 or 4 tenths of an oz but jumping size usually adds over an oz. difference and has even though the whole thing is lighter with the smaller size reels installed, actually feel heavier fishing them tip high, and more fatiguing holding the rod up which to me detracts from the sensitivity,,,,,that is a sweet rod and very light for a 7' MH I would think the 2500 would make it a more sensitive, better feeling, and actually feel lighter even though it's not. Let us know, and hope you get it bent often and soon!! Enjoy!
The rod has had a workout this week. I have experimented with three
different reels and have settled on the original plan: Stella 2500FB.
Sounds Super Sweet,,,,,,it's hard to setup any 7' MH rod to balance good with a 1000 size reel without adding a lot of weight to the but, or building the handle ridiculously long. and for a MH you still have a sweet light outfit!! Enjoy!!
Balance is so much more important than gross weight. A perfectly balanced rig creates the illusion
of weightlessness.
I shoot for the best of both worlds through the choice of components and grip design. It's hard to justify spending top dollar for ultra sensitive, super light blanks and then adding weight. At the end of the day though, a custom rod is just that... custom, so the client has the final say.

X2,,,,,, I've argued this with others before, but maybe they never had a quality custom rod to test it on!!!! sound's ridiculous, but feeling is believing!
