Ci4 On Sale From Cabelas 2024

fishing user avatarbaluga reply :

For $119. Just ordered mine. There's a $20 off on $150 purchase so I ordered some Invizx.

fishing user avatarGoose52 reply :

I think they sold out fast - both the 1000 and 2500 that they had for $119 say this when you try to add them to your cart:

Please review the error(s) highlighted below in red.

  • The following item is out of stock and not available for purchase at this time:
    Item #: IK - 124748 | Shimano® Stradic® CI4 Spinning Reel | REEL MODEL: STCI42500F

Ole' cheapo Goose would have grabbed one or two at this price!

fishing user avatarbaluga reply :

Wow, that was fast. It was a pretty good deal. I'm glad I jumped on it. You might want to try calling them since it just say's not available online.

fishing user avatarNorcalBassin reply :

Awesome deal that looks like it may have overwhelmed the site (now saying to call if you want to order). I tried to have TW price match it but they wanted to charge me Cabelas' shipping charges without honoring the Cabelas' $20 off $150 coupon and keeping the tax on the order despite me not having to pay taxes at Cabelas.

Not real happy with TW at the moment. I could see making it "even" with the shipping but that's bush league to not honor the coupon and tax to truly make it "even."

fishing user avatarQUIENYO reply :

The price is still good, you just need to call the order in..

She told me they were back ordered, but would still honor the advertised price over the phone.

I think TW had it right and you were asking a lot of them. I wouldn't even expect them to price match it in the first place and you want them to use the same coupon as Cabela's? I think you need to listen to your self and put yourself in their position. If you live in California you obviously have to pay taxes since you both are located there.

HA!

I've got 6, too. Of the old green monster 3.8:1. A dozen E7s, a dozen E5's... Throw in some Cores, Curado 51, Chronarch 51MGs, 101s. Add some Alphas, Sols, a couple Pixies here and there, top it with a few Zillions, and you get the idea that I have a few reels. (Keep in mind I have a set of gear in TX, one in CA, and one in my rig; almost all have spares here at home, as well....)

I just really like the CI4 in the 2500 size, it's one of my standard spinning reels. I currently have 7, and another 10-12 reels that are older Stradics and Sustains; it's just time to upgrade some of them and at that price, how can I not.

fishing user avatarnwibass reply :

Yeah, well then again im 16 and don't have a job. Lol. Wish I did so I could expand my arsenal

Why would you expect them not to price match??? That's their M.O. I've been ordering from them for years and the shipping addition is a new policy for them. Maybe if I hadn't been spoiled before it would be different. I've probably given them over $5k the past 3-4 years, so they've had plenty of my business. My point was that if you're going to guarantee lowest prices and price match to the point you add the other site's shipping but then won't honor their discounted offer... that is not an actual "price match."

Here's the math:

Cabelas: 2x $119.99 => 239.98 - $20 coupon for over $150 => $219.98 + 18.95 shipping => 238.93

TW: 2x $119.99 => 239.98 x 1.0775 tax => $258.58 + 18.95 shipping => 277.53

I had no problem at all until they wanted to add in the shipping charges using the reasoning it was a "true" price match when in reality it was not. They were "truly" nearly $40 more and $20 over without the shipping addition. Just keep the free shipping as with every other time I've ordered and I'm happy. That's all I'm sayin.

Awesome deal by Cabelas and I'm more than happy to send some of my business to them... I just like to give TW first shot at my dollar.

You're not doing them any favors, at that price they are loosing money.

Exactly, TW obviously doesn't have to liquidate their Stradics like Cabela's. Cabela's must have ordered way too many or something along those lines.

fishing user avatar0119 reply :

Shimano regulates the retail prices of their products and doesnt allow variance from suggested msrp normally. Makes me wonder if the CI4 is being phased out already for a mid year replacement. Very unlike Shimano but they are introducing the new monster Curado mid year so maybe there are some suprises coming.

Monster Curado ?

Please elaborate.

fishing user avatarJ Francho reply :

Yeah, spill the beans...new Speedmaster? Or DC model for US?

fishing user avatar0119 reply :

Its bigger than the 300, similar to Daiwas big computer screened trolling reels in size. Marketed towards Musky, saltwater and swimbait fishermen. There have been threads about it. Due out after the new year.

fishing user avatar0119 reply :

There are videos at tackletour and Larry Dahlbergs youtube channel. Definitely not bass gear. Just an unusual release date considering ICAST. I cant think of another reason any retailer would have nearly 100 bucks off a very popular model except a new versions release. Just like they did with the Curado, Citica, Stradic FI and Sustain.

It's a reel being built to compete with the Revo Toro.

fishing user avatarJ Francho reply :

They have that in the 300e and the 300ej jigging model.... Looks like a simple update.

fishing user avatarbaluga reply :

it is double the size and weight of 300ej. It's called TranX

it has cap of mono 30/160, Max drag of 25lbs and it weights 20.0z. The 300ej weights 10.5oz.

fishing user avatarJ Francho reply :

Wow, I can't see that applying to anything bass related. But bigger game, sounds pretty sweet!

I would 100% respect a business saying that they could not match a low price guarantee if they were truly losing money. I will always respect honesty. However, they are probably the largest online bass retailer in the country (likely sell every bit as many Shimano products as Cabelas) and paid much less than $120 for all of their Stradics... it would cut their profit margin but far from make them lose money. I just had another TW order arrive today... we've already made up.

:)

If you're on the highest level, you'll do 28 points at MSRP on high end shimano reels. so if they sold the 2500 at (119x2)-20/2 (you do the math) with free shipping they are loosing money, and I'm not even factoring shipping from the vendor and overhead. I know it may not seem like it in this bubble, but TW is a tiny enterprise, cut them some slack. Oh, and shimano is the Nike of fishing, and I don't mean that as a complement.

fishing user avatartracker01 reply :

I think a Cabela's computer dude discounted the wrong Stratic and it was caught and removed. Just a thought.

fishing user avatarDave T. reply :

Hmmm... I too am wondering if Shimano has something up their sleeve with the CI4. Maybe adding "X-Ship" to them? :Idontknow:

I was going to pick up another CI4, but I think I'll hold off for a while. :D

This is definitely news to me. There is a retailer (owner) out of state that offered me an opened ended 30% discount on any premium Shimano and G Loomis gear I would like to buy. He only has 3 stores and I highly doubt that he is offering me this deal so he can lose money. However, you appear to know some "inside" info so I will just let this one go. Once again, it's all good with TW.

No trying to be a jerk by the way, but "loose" means something is not tight.

My thoughts exactly. I was thinking that he was just supposed to mark down the Stradic FI's and accidentally extended it to the CI4's. Reminds me of when Gander Mountain had the Revo spinning reels down to $99 for a couple days earlier this year... definitely a mistake.

fishing user avatarDave T. reply :

LOL... I hate math!

Anyhow, I can't believe that any vendor would sell the CI4's at cost, never mind below cost unless they are being reimbursed by Shimano (for whatever reason) or somebody just made a mistake. The CI4's are a pretty darn good selling reel from what I've heard.

fishing user avatarnorthern basser reply :

I think it was a mistake. The sale was done as fast as it started and now they don't even have a ci4 to look at online.

I'm a couple of miles from a cabelas store so I went down there and grabbed the last 2. The sales guy at the fishing counter was doubting the fact that they were on sale while he was looking it up. What sux is I had to pay tax on them vs. no tax online.
