I’m looking into buying some good mono for mid divers jerkbaits and poppers I’m not looking for the best budget line I’m looking for the best in terms of castability on a baitcaster low memory abrasion resistant Great knot strength what are your suggestions? Your opinion is greatly appreciated!
Trilene XL or Stren Original are among the best mono options.
I use 10 lb Yo-Zuri Hybrid for my jerk baits. Not 100% mono but it is very strong, low stretch, great knots and very abrasion resistant (we have a lot of pike in our area and it helps). I use it for Jitterbugs and poppers too.
Berkley Trilene Big Game Geen - Cajun Red - Silver Thread -- inexpensive to respool when needed and get the job done...
I use a lot of Silver Thread AN40 and Big Game. Personally I think AN40 handles better. I don't fish where abrasion resistance is a factor so I can't comment on that. All I know from my reading is that if you want the best abrasion resistant line, then you better be willing to use line conditioner because you are going to have more memory than the norm. Think CXX and Platinum. I also use a lot of Siege. Also have Cajun Red on a few reels. I am trying some McCoy Mean Green and so far I like it. Seems to handle quite well. I don't have a problem with knot strength with any of these lines.
Any line is going to have memory if not used on a regular basis. Some a lot worse than others. Until it gets wet, Big Game will give me more memory problems than Siege, AN40, Elite and Cajun Red.
Sunline Defier Armilo Nylon monofilament. Small diameter, good knot strength, high abrasion resistance and excellent casting line.

Gamma copoly is great line, casts/handles better than Yo zuri hybrid with near or equal strength for line diameter. 2nd choice would be McCoys.
Armilo. None better.

That would be my suggestion, too.
Mccoy, XL, Original Stren are all good handling lines. Stren Magnathin handles as good as any of those and is stronger with noticeably less stretch and more sensitivity.

????
Thanks for your reply’s I’m considering Sunline defyer nylon mono, it’s expensive but I’ve decided to stop buying cheapy line it last longer and it’s just better and an investment in the long run.

Wow..no shortage of Armilo fans here ....which end of the range does it fall in terms of sensitivity/stretch? It seems with most monos, less stretch means more sensitive but sometimes that comes at a price in other categories..like knot strength.
I might have to give it a try. ***Edit, I just checked the price...nevermind...lol***
YoZuri, BigGame, Trilene Sensation. I haven't tried Sunline Defier Armilo that WRB recommends, but I've heard good reviews about it.
Been using Trilene XL for years. They changed something a couple of years back, and I've been looking for replacement since.
Seaguar Rippin Mono is well worth a look. I have it on four reels. One of them has not been respooled since I first put it on. Just used it last week after it rested all winter, and it performed just fine. Compared to XL, it has less stretch, tougher, more sensitive, and casts as well. I will have it most of my reels this year.
Much more affordable than Armilo, and performs as well.
Sunline Super Natural. I've been fishing it for three years now and it's performed great.
are yall defier fans backing your reels with cheap mono or filling full?

$18 for 165 yards of mono? Yeah I'll pass too.

I back mine a bit. Then I can get a couple fills out of one spool. I have some 11lb that has been on for 3 seasons and shows no signs of degradation. It costs a bit more, but it holds up better than the cheap lines and doesn't need replaced as often.
I use XL and Big Game . Not saying they are the best , they just serve me well .
I use Silver Thread AN40 on all my spinning reels. I use braid to mono on baitcasters for poppers and sometimes frogs if no slop
I don't use mono on my baitcasters, but I like Sufix Superior and Stren as mainlines and as leaders, and P-line as a mainline on spinners.

I back mine with inexpensive 30lb braid. I do really like Defier Armilo but I wish they 1) sold it in bulk spools, and 2) sold it in smaller diameters. Their 11lb is as thick as 8lb XL, which is "ok", but I would love it if they offered it in something closer to 4lb XL.

That is all that matters.

Never tried Sunline Armilo. Is it noticeably better than Stren or Trilene XL?

I am interested as well. I have been using Stren original for many years. Haha yikes. Just checked the price on the Sunline Armilo...
Im a suffix Siege guy myself. love the stuff. 12 pound. Strong as big game and just as abrasion resistant, only casts twice as well.
I used to be a trilene guy until i tried Siege. now im hooked lol
I agree with Hulkster. I replaced XL on my baitcaster with Siege and i'm now a siege fan. Its a good, strong quality line that cast very well.
Rippin' Mono.
