What would be the best fluorocarbon line for jigs that could also be used for multiple applications? I'm thinking Seaguar Invizx or maybe Sunline FC Sniper in a 16lb. test but I'm sure there are others out there too. i just ordered some nice new jigs and would like to keep them as long as possible .
Line section for any bait including jigs is dictated by a few factors including but not limited to depth, cover density and perhaps water clarity.
Brand preference is just that.
Where fluorocarbon is concerned, by purchasing a reputable brand name in the at least mid but preferably upper price range, you'll help yourself out.
btw - if you are not fishing your jigs like you're trying to lose them, you're missing out.

You live up north and as such will be fishing colder water. Sniper wins out over shooter in this area. Toray super hard upgrade is a great line as is tatsu. I fish a lot of p-line 100% as its a lot like sniper but a little cheaper and easier for me to find, when I am not ordering from TW. You might still be able to get tatsu on sale right now and that would be one to try...

This is the absolute truth!
I've used a bunch of different brands of fluoro because I basically only buy whatever is on sale lol. For jigs I use 15 -20lb (mostly 17lb). Brands I've used: Trilene 100%, Trilene Vanish and Vanish Transition, Seaguar Abrazx and Red Label, Sunline Sniper and Super, Cabelas No Vis, Gamma Edge, Trik Fish, and Lews APT (probably some others I've forgotten). Only a couple of those have been junk. I think the strongest out of all of them is the Trilene 100%. It's not the most manageable or the smallest diameter but it's incredibly strong. The Sniper is really good as well. Invisx might have a little more stretch than a lot of the others.
@A-Jay has it right. Everyone has their own preferred brand that they will tell you is "the best" but all of the mid to upper tier fluoros are pretty good.
I'd second the above - personally I've been using 30 or 40 lb braid with a 17 lb FC leader and I've liked it. It tends to keep the costs down instead of respooling a full spool of FC too. I've been grabbing whichever brand is on sale and haven't noticed much of a difference between brands, as long as its a reputable line manufacturer.
I like 14lb Shooter as an all-around Fluoro.
Another vote for Toray SuperHard Upgrade

This last part is so true - and that's why I use braid for my jig fishing.

Toray is a premium FC equal to anything on the market, problem is Blackwater changed the spool size from 200 meters to 100 meters with the same price. Sunline or Seaguer FC referenced should work good for him.
Tom
Im using 12# Yo-zuri hybrid for open water applications.Id use 40-65# braid if fishing heavy cover depending on how thick the cover is.
Sniper and tatsu!
Tatsu - and now with their buy 2, get 2 free deal it's actually a pretty good buy.
Toray for me , has been hit or miss . i purchased two spools of SHU awhile back and they both turned out to be junk . for deep water jig fishing , Sunline Shooter is hard to beat ...
a really good Toray line that is somewhat hard to get is Super Hard Strong .....

You've inspired me to try this. I always fish my jigs really carefully. Gonna stop caring. This goes for a lot of lures I don't use regularly because of fear of losing them lol.

Sounds good.
But I would go as far as to try and punch a 10XD through any Heavy Mats

I ordered #12 & #15
Sniper fan here in 12lb for jigs. Assassin is good stuff too.
14# and down I use Sniper
16# and up its Shooter
Mike
So Shooter is probably out of my comfort zone as far as price for fishing line but what about Assassin, how does that compare to Sniper?
Sunline Sniper 16 lb and Assasin 15 lb are about the same diameter, Assasin $20/225 yds, Sniper $25/200 yds. Seagaur Invizx 15 lb is also same dia the Sunline $25/200 yds.
If price is a driver go with Berkley 12 lb Green Big Game in 1/4 lb/1,100 yds spool at $9 and change it more often.

To a point it is...I really don't want to spend more than $25 for a spool of line and if i can find something almost as good with strong abrasion resistance for about $15 that would be even better but I'm willing to spend up to $25 if the line truly is worth the extra $10.
16# Sniper for the same price and diameter as 15# Invisex is the obvious choice.
To me anyway
Mike
I've generally used Abrazx for my jigs. I recommend Red Label to those that want a more affordable FC, and if they have a higher price point, can't beat that Tatsu.
Tatsu #20 is the best jig line I've used. It handles like most brands #12-15, and you can use it for a longer span before it feels like it needs replacement.
For a lower price point, the other three Seaguar FC lines mentioned here are all good options. For what it's worth, I used these three over Tatsu because of it's prohibitive price.
For jigs I use Seaguar AbrazX #17 if the water is clear and vegetation not prohibitive, or Seguar Smackdown #40 if the cover is intimidating. I haven't thought of any good reason to try anything else since I started using these.
Given that you want to keep cost down, maybe you should look at something besides a fluorocarbon line. If abrasion resistance is also paramount, then consider P-Line CXX or Izorline Platinum or possibly Izorline XXX. First two would best be served by using a line conditioner. XXX is said to be tough and handle better. I am currently trying some 10# XXX.
I can sympathize with your desire to not loose terminal tackle. Unfortunately that is part of the game. Painful nonetheless...especially if it is a favorite lure.
for a low price , pick up some Sunline Model fluoro for $10 , TW has it on sale for $6 , but only 8 & 10 lb , just bought & received 2 spools of each !!
Still using Mono,Fish areas full of Rocks.Berkley big game 14lb is my favorite.Lews has some out i want to try out.
p-line tactical fluorocarbon is running a "buy 1 get 1 for free" deal right now.
