so what new rods are u guys considering purchasing this year? ive kinda put the fishing mindset aside during deer season and now that its almost over im already thinking of fishing. probably gonna upgrade a rod or two. wanting to check out the fenwick elitetech bass rods and the Avid X for sure. the new falcon lowrider 20 and powell max3D caught my eye as well
13 Archangel and Muse. That's about it. I'll probably go custom otherwise.
I only need one this year...something for skipping baits
probably gonna be another ***
Now what i want is a longer list lol
im considerig custom as well. ill probably pick up a couple rods. i have a long list as well but really only need maybe 2
I'm planning on buying my first Dobyn's DX, just to see what all the fuss is about. I need a good BFS rod, might go factory, might go custom. The rest will probably be customs.
Edit, I could see adding a GLX or NRX to the stable too.
when u guys get custom rod who do u use?

I build them myself, kind of makes it easy.
Phenix maxium
Whatever rod I can't seem to live without lol. Although I just started a new technique. SWIMBAITING. I have a feeling I'm going to become a junkie lol
Tight lines
Andrew
*** Black and maybe a Legend Xtreme
the Max 3D is amazing. Got mine a few weeks ago. Beautiful rod.On 1/15/2015 at 7:40 AM, robster80 said:so what new rods are u guys considering purchasing this year? ive kinda put the fishing mindset aside during deer season and now that its almost over im already thinking of fishing. probably gonna upgrade a rod or two. wanting to check out the fenwick elitetech bass rods and the Avid X for sure. the new falcon lowrider 20 and powell max3D caught my eye as well
I may be done for the year... but I picked up a Pflueger Supreme and a Fenwick Elite Tech ML Walleye rod last week. I really would like to add another G. Loomis GLX to my line up but I'm thinking I might get a new kayak. Just depends on how things go.....
I am not sure what rods I will get this year, I really enjoy my falcon bucoo micro, so I may go with some more of those, I also like my Tatula rods, I will most likely pick up at least one more of those. An *** or *** may be in the cards as well, it all depends on the job I get in may when I graduate from college...
Mitch
Right now I kind of have my eye set on the new Micro Magic Pros and also the Avid X's just not sure which I want to try first, kind of leaning towards the Avid at the moment.
If I get another rod I am lookin at something from ***. Starting to really like them...
I am tempted to go Tatula crazy. I bought the 6'10" MXF casting rod from the South American rainforest and it's niiiiiice. It's very hard to argue with $90 rods.
So far I picked up a Shimano Crucial Casting and 2 BPS Carbonlite Spinning, I already have a casting bps carbonlite that has just been amazing so I found a deal on these and figured what the heck. I plan on getting a Shimano Curado I for the Crucial. Problem is, I still have that itch to buy another rod lol.

Holy deep pockets!!!!
My rod list for the year.... Could get expensive
1. New Phenix K2 683 production rod, or go custom and use that blank.
2. Rep sample NRX 802c or custom on nfc hm blank
3. 6'5L Shimano Expride bfs rod, hard to find....
Hoping to convince myself I can't live without a Dobyn's 684CB and 806CB.
Don't need anymore rods. I would like an ***, but don't see the necessary funds being available. Would also like to try Fenwick's new HMG and Elite Tech Bass rods.

Mike at DVT http://www.delawarevalleytackle.com/
Probably one of the new tatula glass crankbait rods.
I enjoy Berkley's for the price. I have some of each of their rods, but would like to pick up some E-Motion Performance Series rods. They are great rods and $80 iz a great price point.
Edit: I'm not sure if the old Carbonlites are still cheap, but if I stumble across a deal for one I like in store.. I may pick it up. They seem nice too. Not a fan of the white look on the new ones.
I'm probably going to pick up a few kistlers, klxs most likely maybe a helium

Not sure if you get their emails but...

I know, but the time I went to check it out they were sold out of the one I wanted
Not sure the model numbers yet but I will be purchasing two new Powell Max 3D rods this year. One for jerkbaits and another for med cranks/rattletraps. This should complete my switching over all my rods to Powell rods, but then again every time I think I have everything covered there is always one more my bass fishing addiction has to buy. LOL

Had the same problem.
I scored a champ 703 and champ dx 704 over the last couple months. Those are my 2015 rod buys. I caved in to the Dobyns peer pressure.
I'm gonna be picking up another St. Croix LTB for pitching/flippin' and I'm going to try out the new Avid X as well. There may be one more rod too, but I'm not sure if I'll have the funds or not and also not sure what I'd buy for sure lol.
Im really stuck between a DX744 or a Legend Xtreme 7MH or picking up my first Loomis
gonna run to basspro tomorow and check out some stuff. hopefully theyll have an Avid X i can look at
I'll get one or two of the new Johnny Morris CarbonLites. Those rods are so light and balanced that they make a veritas feel like a tip heavy pig.
2; Megabass Rattelevipers. Brian.
I'm contemplating on getting two more rods, but I'm trying to decide if I want to try my own "custom" route or grab a new Carbonlite rod or Duckett Ghost..or maybe I get all three. I am leaning more towards a Carbonlite (White one) or go custom. I have 5 reels without a mate.
Couple more Black Omens, the Black *** Crankenstein, maybe one of the Phinex glass crankbait rods, and possibly a custom frog rod.
For me it's the Crucial rods I snagged at DSG for basically peanuts. Not the newest version, but new to me.
Im also looking at the St. Croix LTB 6'10" ML/XF as a dedicated finesse worm rod, but it's far down the list as I have a need for some reels at the moment.
im lookin at those phenix glass rods as well. stumbled upon Cousins rods while looking at TW. they make a nice looking glass rod im looking at as well
I'm looking at possibly getting a Kistler, not sure which one, and possibly a custom built frog rod.
I got a deal on a 13 *** and now looking for a 13 *** crankenstein. Also picked up a veritas for skipping.
Going all custom this year. Got a guy who builds them out of St. croix or Mhx blanks going to get a few this year
considering custom as well for at least one rod. still trying to decide btwn a few others
I just picked up 4 berkley e motion rods

How are they?? They look really nice. How do they compare to other rods in the price range like the veritas, vendetta etc.? Looks like they would make a good crankin stick.
I just got the new micro magic and I see the improvements ... But I think I'll try a white ice for a swimbait rod this summer

they feel great never had a veritas or vendetta but i have a st criox mojo bass and i like the feel of the e motion over the mojo bass cant wait to test them
Thinking about testing out some Phenix and *** rods. Been a faithful G. Loomis guy most of my life but after having fished a couple friends' Phenix rods I have to say I'm impressed.
I treated my self to a dobyns 703c and I just bought a 705cbmf. I plan to get 2 more before the end of March to start the season off The right way!! I'm pretty excited for this season. I have completely different setups.

I am aware of NFC rods. I don't know anybody who's fishing them right now so I haven't had a chance to test them yet.
Megabass X7 Extreme Mission and Super Eiger, a Phase III Eiger Northwall, another X4 Destruction, Pop-X Stick, and a 13 Archangel.
Whew! Wish I could afford all that! Probably a couple more dobyns champions here. Maybe an Orochi x4. We'll see...On 1/29/2015 at 10:17 AM, Gone_Phishin said:Megabass X7 Extreme Mission and Super Eiger, a Phase III Eiger Northwall, another X4 Destruction, Pop-X Stick, and a 13 Archangel.

It is going to be an expensive year. Lol. Now if I could just stop buying reels from the far East...been an expensive Winter.
Which X4 are you thinking about?
Destruction. I've heard great things about it, especially from tackletour. Let me know what you think of yoursOn 1/29/2015 at 10:38 AM, Gone_Phishin said:It is going to be an expensive year. Lol. Now if I could just stop buying reels from the far East...been an expensive Winter.

The X4 Destruction is an amazing and versatile stick...you can simply cover so much with it....blades, swimbaits, jigs, spoons, frogs, plastics, etc.
I'll be sticking with my usual brands ... Falcon and Cousins. But, I'm really looking forward to getting my hands on one of the new Falcon Lowriders and seeing how they compare to the previous version.
bought a duckett terex rojas rod a few weeks back. it's been arctic weather in new england but got to try it out once and i'm pretty stoked on it
I have a Dobyns DX742sf on the way and I'm super excited.
I'm waiting on that new Abu Ike Rod to come out.

I just picked up a GLX and NRX and I was blown away with the quality. I used to wonder why people spent that kinda money and it became self explanatory when I actually fishes them
Will be getting an Orachi XX EMTF and an *** Black medium casting rod.
so far picked up a Lamiglas Excel 2 glass rod. havent fished it yet but feels amazing. now looking at one of the new falcon lowrider, avid x, new or old carbonlite, kistler klx or cabelas tournament zx when they go on sale again
2 more Megabass rods to add to the collection.
Ugly Stick..... enough said.
Hopefully this is the year I can go all custom. Been selling off my old stuff to fund a bunch more blank purchases for myself :-)
Patiently Waiting for my first custom!
