My first cow was a huge rush! My friend and I arrived a bit later than everyone else at around 6:30 and we start paddling/peddling out
Ninja game face
Along the way we paddle towards some Visipoles (I need to get one cause they stick out like sore thumbs at night) and we meet up with a friend who gives us some magical eels.
Kyle and his magic eels
Jason's mad drifting skills
After about 20 mins of drifting Jason hooks up...fights for a tad bit and drops the ball! We angrily start to drift again on the opposite side...possibly an hour later, I hook up! (Thanks to Jason for the awesome action shots) He drags me around and once ran directly towards the ships, but thanks to the mirage drive I put a stop to that.
The fight
Too close to the ships for comfort!
Starting to peak!
He finally comes up after what seemed like 10mins of fighting ( prob alot less )
Leg technique I read about on kayakkevin's site to get big stripers into the yak.
and VICTORY!
Measured to be 41in

Wow! Nice fish! Now I want to go kayak fishin
I used to fish below Ft Loudon dam near Knoxville for fish like that (though almost certainly never that big...); it's a RUSH in a kayak! That's a gorgeous fish. If I may ask, were you on the Potomac?
That is killer. Great fish.
congrats Simon, that is a BEAUTIFUL fish.
WTG Simon, that is one nice hawg. It must of been one heck of a fight.
Nice work bro!
Outstanding. WTG Simon.
Dude thats awesome. I've caught them that size trolling but the fight isn't anything special on trolling gear. I imagine that was an epic fight, I'm jealous. What are your rod and line specs?
Simon- your smile says it all. That is a well earned beast..you should be very proud!
Ernie
Awesome! Nice job man.
That is nuts, the fish and what you are guys are doing lol, equally

Wow! great fish Simeon.
Hat's off to you.
What a cow! awesome fish Simon!
Wow a BEAST, gotta love that night fishing!
geez. ive caught a few 12 and13 pounders from the bank in front of the dam at my rez which is insane fun. they almost spool my line out everytime, incredible fight. but this fish weighs way more than any striper i've ever caught, and from a kayak! i am jealous
Thanks guys, it was a blast on the kayak. I was using a 6'6" MH ugly stick (the stouter ones) with a 4500 Baitrunner, 50lb Powerpro, 2oz egg sinker, ~4ft of 30lb mono for a leader, 9/0 Gammy Octopus hook with an eel on the end =)
Awesome! Now that's some adventure! 8-)
Wow that is bad-***. Nice work dude.
That thing is humungus! It must have been one hell of a fight from a kayak. NICE!
Great Fish !
A-Jay
Those pics are awesome!
Congratulations! Awesome fish!
Awesome fish! A few of us kayak anglers up here in Western NY are planning a trip to VA sometime this winter to go after stripers. Can't wait!
That thing is huge! and you are one brave S.O.B. Fishing at night..., in a Kayak which could topple over, catching 10 - 30 lb stripers in the freezing cold waters. Yes my friend.... You have some very large Kahunas.
What a fish. Great catch man.
that is absolutely SICK. Congratulations!!
Thank again guys =)

It's actually not too bad! The sit-on-top kayaks are pretty stable and if properly geared even getting flipped will barely get you wet!
You all should try it sometime =D
That's just awesome. I'm getting my yak next month and I hope to replicate your success.
wow that thing is huge
Striper of a lifetime. NIce!
wow, what a fish!!! great job!!!
