OK, I don't even know where to start......
Last Monday morning, my fishing partner, Paul, and I caught the first flight out from Memphis to Houston Texas, and then to Guadalajara, and the Culiacan Mexico. We arrived at the fishing lodge 3 hours later after a truck ride through the poor parts of Mexico, and then into the Mountains. We arrive at the lodge to a warm welcome of fresh frozen margaritas!!!!! We get settled in and start rigging rods and reels. 4 each with line in the range of 12 Yo-zuri to 17 flouro. Little did we know it would be too little, but we had backup! Most of the fish were caught in the "bushes", more like trees. The first day we broke off 4 good fish, and switched to 30lb and braid. Not many more problems, just a couple. Next time I will take only 25 lb flouro and braid. and if you know me, I hate braid! LOL We fished Tues-Friday at THE BEST BASS FISHING LAKE IN THE WORLD!!!!!!
Tuesday AM we fished from 6 am-12:45: 26 Bass (8 lb 8 oz Pauls new PB) + 1 over 7lbs, 7 over 6lbs and 10 over 5!!!!!!!! But wait, it just keeps getting better...........
Tuesday PM we fished 2pm- 8:30 : 6 bass (9lb 13oz my new PB) + Paul caught 3 over 8( 8lb 3oz, 8lb, 8lb 6 oz) and also 1 over 5lbs
Wed AM we fished 6am-12pm: 13 bass (10lb 4 oz my new PB again) + 1 over 9, 1 over 8, 1 over 7 and 1 over 5
Wed PM we fished 3pm-7:45pm: 11 bass ( 9lb 11oz Paul new PB again) + 1 over 7 and 1 over 5
Thurs AM we fished 6:15am- 1:30pm: 19 bass ( 10 lb 14 oz my new PB again) + 1 over 8, 2 over 7, 1 over 6, 1 over 5
Thurs PM we fished 4:30pm- 8:30 pm: 30 bass with only 1 over 6
Friday AM we fished 6am-12pm: 83 bass(10 lbs 9 oz Paul new PB again) + 10 lbs 2 oz(Pauls PB at the time), 1 over 8 4 over 7 10 over 6 and 10 over 5
Friday PM we fished 5pm- 8pm: 45 bass for one day total of 128!!!! 1 over 9, 1 over 8, 1 over 7, 4 over 6 and 10 over 5
83 bass over 5 lbs in 4 days, which was almost 40% of our entire catch! Absolutely UNREAL!!! Unlike anything I have ever heard of in my life!
Fish were feeding on shad, and keyed in on moving baits almost solely. Didn't fit my style of fishing, but with results like that who would complain!! Found out the time of year for jigs/t-rigs,topwater and will be making my next trip then!
BAITS OF CHOICE: 1/2 oz scrounger with rage lobsters, trick worms and swing fat impacts
BIG crank baits (dd22, cbd20, bomber fat free bd8f)
12-14 foot cranks
Worms were thumpers, anacondas and ol monsters and senkos
Caught a couple(4-5) on topwater popper and spook
Caught a couple on my hand tied jigs
Caught a couple on 1 oz spinnerbaits
Caught a couple on storm swimbaits
Let me tell you this was absolutely the best fishing trip of my life. Both of us got out of the 8 lb, into the 9's and then into the DD Club. A goal we have been trying for for our whole lives! I highly recommend this trip to any serious bass angler. It has become a staple in my travels, one that hopefully I can do every year! Our guide, Manual "lightening" Salazar was amazing! Best fisherman I have ever come in contact with. The lodge was awesome! No TV, No internet, No cell service, just you, the bugs( beetles, scorpions, grass hoppers, lizards and frogs) and the fish!
and the scenery.....

Congratulations on All Those PB's .
And I'll ask as well - What was the name of the lake and the resort?
A-Jay
The name of the lake is "Bacuratu" in Spanish and Lake Baccarac in English. The lodge is Lake Baccarac Lodge
Jeff
Jeff thanks for the great write up & pictures, almost felt like I was there. Big heavy congrats on the mutiple PB's to you & your buddy.
Is that all?!?!?!?!?! Wow

Incredible! Congratulations on the trip of a lifetime.
OMG!!!!!!!!!!!!!
You da MAN!
OMG!.......
I couldnt DREAM up a better fishing trip than this.I would have had a heart attack in the middle of it all! Congratulations on your trip and what will probably be the best fishing outing you will ever have. Simply incredible.
p.s i hate you
There is doubt about it. I'm going to have to un-retire to scrape together the funds to make a trip of a lifetime such as yours, but I will do it, come hell or high water.
Man my two trips south of the border weren't nearly that productive! Awesome time I'm sure!
You must have found the lake pumped with steroids!!! Those are some monster fish! What a fishing trip man
all I can say is WOW!
Incredible Jeff! Catching big fish is never easy, and you caught them by the dozen! Great pics, great report, and awesome healthy looking fishies. May you catch a (a few) teener(s) the next time.
WOW!!! That is unbelievable. Congrats.
Geez! Nice.
Looks like this is the trip to start planning for. I read that June and July offer the best fishing at Baccarac and Salto due to lowered water levels. The water is at its lowest in July since the local Sinaloa agricultural "grow season" is at its peak this time of year.
I recommend checking out the web site for Baccarac Lake. I bet some of Jeff's pictures make the fish of the month photo album.
Amazing story an pictures, thanks for sharing.
Nice! Lake Baccarac was my pick for a honey moon trip lol but my wife still knows its where i wanna go if we ever get the chance i seen a special on the lake years ago and just thought I must go there no mater what at some point in my life.
Congrats on the many PB's
Thanks everyone! It really is a special lake and a special place. I look forward to getting back down there maybe with some of you guys!!!!!!!

Very possible. Doesn't look like I'm going to qualify for the TOC this year. Been working instead of fishing.
I highly recommend the BR trip. Pickwick is gonna be the best road trip yet!!!!!
Jeff
Well looks like I know what I'm doing for vacation next summer! Holy freaking cow man thats a ton of fish! Congrats on the catches! I'm sure that was a heck of a lot of fun!
One of the best trips anyone could hope for, it could not have happened to a better person it seems.
Congrats !!!!!!
Thanx for sharing 00 !!!
WOW!!! That's a slugfest to the highest degree WTG Jeff and glad you two had such a great trip! Awesome Fish and photos...
I probably should have taken this trip BEFORE buying a new house... Guess I'll need to start working in the honeydo list ASAP to get in her good graces enough to let me go to Mexico to fish
Chris you are only invited if you wear a HOG HAT!!!!!!!
Jeff
HOLY SMOKES! What a report! Man O man, that place just got the number one spot on my list.
Congrats guys!!
Have you guys thought about putting together a guide for those of us that might be considering a trip like that? I know I am interested and would appreciate any insight that could be shared.

d**n. not much else i can say. i'll never post in the "outtings" threads again after seeing that.
WTG, Jeff!
83 bass over 5lbs in four days is insane!! I've experienced a couple "feeding frenzy" situations on Okeechobee but I have never experienced a bite like you just described.
You've just added one more item to my "bucketmouth list"
Awsome!
Looked like you had some difficulty holding up a couple of those bad boys!
After a couple days of that, anybody would have a hard time holding them up! LOL
Jeff
Planning a trip with my dad next summer for sure!
It is something you will not regret. Let me know if there is anything I can help with!
