This is a good reel for smaller panfish but not bigger fish. I had issues with the handle kept folding into the store position while hooked into a bigger walleye, pout and pike. The drag was real choppy as well on the bigger fish. I will only use this for panfish from now on.

When I first got the reel, I loved it. That went away after catching a few fish. When reeling the fish in, the handle on the reel keeps unlatching from the reeling position and going back into the storing position.

I use mostly Abu Garcia Ice max reels. I decided to give this one a shot. I’m not overly impressed with the build quality. The rotor movement isn’t as smooth as the ice max and the materials just seem cheap. However It does seem to have a smoother drag than the ice max. I guess I’ll find out how well it holds up over time. So far I probably wouldn’t buy another one.
Edit: after an entire winter of using this reel I have to say I really do like it. I shouldn’t have rated it before I used it for a whole season. I changed my rating to five stars from two. It has an excellent drag probably my favorite part about it.

This is a very nice, smooth reel that works well for walleye ice fishing. I used an 8 lb test to see how this would handle. It had no problem pulling up 25-26” walleye. The drag worked great. Also love the fold in handle, makes storage easy, I plan to purchase more! I’d recommend this reel!

The reels did arrive and guess what... 1 of the 2 reels that they sent has the same grinding sound I was speaking about on my previous review... Good thing they sent 2 because I like I said, 50/50 chance you'll get a good one.
I guess I'll review these up on Mille Lacs this weekend and provide further feedback on how good they perform but the quality control definitely is not there.
1 extra star for the fast replacements to make it in time for my trip though. I will test it and see how well they perform for set lines and jigging. Hopefully catch some fish to actually test the reels.

If it doesn’t make it then I may just return both and go with a different company.

For me this is hands down the best ice reel I have ever had. I now own 8. I was sketchy about the folding handle because most companies go cheap on this. Well Piscifun knocked it out if the park. Everything about the ICX5 is quality. I have fished this reel in -30 degrees with no issues. I love the extended handle for when using thick gloves. The drag is super smooth. I can't say anything negative about this reel. Amazes me what you get for the money on this buy. Great job Piscifun!!
