Answer: They are not specifically designed for saltwater. We have had them on a charter boat for 6 months and a review of the product last week proved they have very good corrosion resistance. Extra care must be taken to rinse your reel with fresh warm water after each use.
Answer: I have periodically used several freshwater only reels in saltwater over the years. They have all held up with no issues. That is for periodic use without the reels EVER being submerged in saltwater. I have always thoroughly rinsed them with freshwater after every use in saltwater, If you don't dunk it in saltwater or use it mostly for saltwater and remember to rinse it with freshwater after every use it should hold up well. If you plan on using the reel in saltwater most of the time you should buy a reel designed for saltwater use and even then it should be rinsed in freshwater after every use in saltwater.

There is a cap on the other side of the reel that you spin off and then screw the handle into the reel like you are reeling line in. Snug it up but make it too tight. I really like these reels and use them in my guide business. One of my clients broke one of the handles and Cadence replaced it immediately. They were easy to communicate and deal with. Because we are interested in providing a reel with lowest possible weight, we have minimized the size based on the constraints of the spool size. The spool size is best determined by line capacity. Any thought on How much mono at 12# ?
Answer: Not sure what 12# is (perhaps pounds?). I have laid 4.5kg braid on the reel and matched it to a 3kg to 6kg Daiwa graphite rod. I have already caught a few 50cm+ trout as well as several species of saltwater Aussie fish. Bottom line is if you MUST use mono then I think you'll get less than 90 metres onto the spool. I got a full 150 metres of braid (above) onto the reel. Use the (force Luke) braid, much better.

Answer: I would suggest the 3000 or even the 4000. I use the 4000 for redfish and trout with 20lb braid and it works very good. The 3000 would be good for smaller species but I like to have extra line just encase I hook a jack or big redfish.

Been using this for mainly small and large mouth bass and plan to use it on the occasional steelhead and walleye. The product is very lightweight for its size. The drag has a very fine adjustment and tons of power. I have the 3000 model and it holds 150 yards of 20lb power pro perfect. Can't comment on the durability so far but from the initial testing I have seems like it should last a long time.

I think this may well be the best size 1000 spinning reel I own and I have several to compare it with. They sent the retail package wrapped in plastic inside a heavy brown cardboard box and gave the reel plenty of protection for shipping without damage. That is something you don't see much in sub $200 reels. It's obvious that Cadence really cares about making sure you get an undamaged reel. I have not fished it yet but I have so many spinning reels I don't have to fish it to judge quality. This reel has unsurpassed quality for the price. I like the magnesium frame over plastic as many use and it reels very smooth and TOTALLY silent. I will most certainly be buying a 2000 size in the near future but wanted the 1000 size first as about 90% of my freshwater fishing is done with light tackle. It just makes catching fish more fun. I don't think any manufacturer can top the quality of these reels for under $150. I highly recommend this reel and of course I will buy more. I do wish they made it in a smaller 500 size though.
UPDATE 04/08/18: I received the 2000 size model today and put line on both. Line lay is perfectly level on both. Even line lay is essential to a good casting spinning reel. There isn't much that affects the cast-ability of a spinning reel. They simply need a good spool design , even line lay and a highly polished spool lip. Of course you need the optimum diameter line for the given reel and matched to the right rod. These reels have it all correct and will without any question cast very well with the correct line size and a properly paired rod. I will have to invest in a couple of their higher end models in the future although the CS8 is about as smooth as it gets.
One thing to note is after looking at the Cadence rods I am positive I will NOT be buying one. The reason for me is simple. They have cork handles. Cork may be considered "traditional" and preferred by many but what is "traditional" about a modern graphite rod in the first place. EVA is a much better choice for rod handles. It's washable and stays looking new for many years. Lately I have noticed a lot of manufacturers using cork on the handle knobs on some high end reels. I guess there must be a market for it but it gets dirty easy and breaks apart faster than plastic, rubber or EVA. You can clean cork but most any chemical that will really make it look as new will also break down cork. Wake up folks there are far better materials today to use for rod handles and reel handle knobs than cork. It's also NOT 1920 so why use an inferior outdated material from that era? I think it's time to move on to a more practical and superior material than cork. To each his own and many will disagree but cork on any fishing equipment is a total deal breaker for me PERIOD.
Update: I did buy it in the 2000 size as well. Still hoping to see these reels in a true Ultralite size like a size 500. A reel this good at this price in a true Ultralite size would be a must have item for me and I expect a lot of your Cadence customers would want one as well.
UPDATE 04/08/18: I received the 2000 size model today and put line on both. Line lay is perfectly level on both. Even line lay is essential to a good casting spinning reel. There isn't much that affects the cast-ability of a spinning reel. They simply need a good spool design , even line lay and a highly polished spool lip. Of course you need the optimum diameter line for the given reel and matched to the right rod. These reels have it all correct and will without any question cast very well with the correct line size and a properly paired rod. I will have to invest in a couple of their higher end models in the future although the CS8 is about as smooth as it gets.
One thing to note is after looking at the Cadence rods I am positive I will NOT be buying one. The reason for me is simple. They have cork handles. Cork may be considered "traditional" and preferred by many but what is "traditional" about a modern graphite rod in the first place. EVA is a much better choice for rod handles. It's washable and stays looking new for many years. Lately I have noticed a lot of manufacturers using cork on the handle knobs on some high end reels. I guess there must be a market for it but it gets dirty easy and breaks apart faster than plastic, rubber or EVA. You can clean cork but most any chemical that will really make it look as new will also break down cork. Wake up folks there are far better materials today to use for rod handles and reel handle knobs than cork. It's also NOT 1920 so why use an inferior outdated material from that era? I think it's time to move on to a more practical and superior material than cork. To each his own and many will disagree but cork on any fishing equipment is a total deal breaker for me PERIOD.

I purchased this reel on Prime Days at a significant discount. Reading the description, I thought I would be happy with the reel. I freshwater fish a lot and I am very picky about the reels I use. Upon receipt of the reel, I was dissatisfied with the smoothness of the reel. Even at a reduced price, I think there are better reels for the price. It does seem well made, but this reel just isn't what I'm looking for.

Love this reel! I loaded it with 300 yards of 10 lb braid. I have been using it daily and all I can say is I want another one! I fish saltwater and have caught reds up to 29.5” and speckled trout so far up to 28”. Like I said I love this reel!!

This is my second Cadence Spinning Reel (my first was the CS4-3000) and I couldn't be happier with it. Light and smooth with all the features you need to land that lunker on the end of your line.

My first time out with the CS8-4000 I was able to place my bait perfectly around fallen trees, grassy patches and exposed root systems as if I'd been using it for years. The line came off the reel as smoothly as it winds back on... no kinks, double backs or mess of any kind.
Give Cadence a shot... you won't be disappointed and you'll save a little coin too.

Just came back from using my new C8 reel mounted on my CR5 rod. The reel is super lightweight and built really well. The retrieve is smooth as well. Didn’t have any problems with line bunching or any retrieve problems. Didn’t get much time to use the drag but it seemed to work just fine.. this reel is super high quality for a great price point. Looking forward to using it more in the future and landing a lunker to really put it to the teat. Would definitely recommend to others.

INSANELY light. Even though the body has zero flex, it feels almost toy-like. My 4000 CS8 IS LIGHTER than my 3000 CS7, and I thought it was light.
The size of both reels is equal, but the line holding capacity of the CS8 is greater (big plus). Both are excellent in smoothness, edge to CS8. Anti-Reverse worked smooth out of the box, handle threads were immaculate, and the bronze tones give it a good look. I'm a performance guy, not an aesthetics person, but it's elegant in design.
It feels so light that I can hardly believe it's stronger than the CS7 3000, which has easily handled hundreds of bass in the 2-7 pound range all year on 30lb braid without a single hitch. Same linear smooth drag system. I will use the CS8 4000 for hybrid striper and muskie fishing to really test its ability. More to follow.
One caveat (that has little to do with the quality) is: Cadence needs to fix their ad. One part says 20lbs drag, other paragraph says 36. Cadence, if you are looking for someone to fix your page for a small fee, I'd happily oblige.

Overall, an outstanding reel for quality and price. Lightweight and lots of features. This is the lightest 4000-class reel that I have ever used. After using other reels for the last few years, for inshore fishing, I was pleasantly surprised at how light this Cadence reel is. Lets you fish all day. And, while its a little thing, I love the large over-sized knob on the handle. I've caught 12 or 15 bass with this reel and it's smooth and sturdy. A great combo when paired with a Cadence CR5 rod. You can't go wrong with this reel.

I purchased the CS10 and loved it except for the blue metallic everywhere. Smooth and light. I purchased the CS8 a few days ago and it came in the mail fast. Within 3 days. I opened the package and began toggling the winding action. I noticed there is a grinding sound as the bail rotates around the drive. I looked into it witout disassembling the reel. Even with added Ardent lubrication I could not get it to cease. I had to return it because it is just too loud, because it is evident the action of the reel in it's current state is not mechanically sound. I will purchase another one and see if the action correct. Maybe an outlier??!
***Update*** I just received the replacement. The action is smooth. 5 stars for the ease of replacement. I will update after I take it out to the water.

Due to having young children, I haven't had much time to fish the past few years. Now that they are a bit older I decided to get back into it. My old reel was not working well, so I decided on this lighter weight reel. Got to try out this spinning reel this past weekend. Smooth casting and reeling. Caught several fish and the reel performed perfectly. Would recommend this purchase. Looking forward to ordering a rod once they are available.

This is an excellent spinning reel, ultra light and fast. I matched it with a Cadence CR7 spinning rod (6"10" Medium light ultra fast). This combination provided me the best speed and sensitivity with a light weight than all of my prior 20+ fishing gear sets. This combination is really also high tech. The Cadence customer service was awesome (send me a screw cap free, since I lost it). The fishing differentiation came obvious when I was doing small and very light squid fishing. Others right by me was watching me catching squids on this reel with a Cadence rod! The feeling is really awesome :) Thanks to Cadence products!

Lots of spinning reels in this price point +/- $10.00. Once I decided on the specifics I wanted (ratio/max drag/bearings/etc.) it was narrowed down to this one, a couple of Bass Pro models and one Shimano. When Amazon put this on sale that solved it for me. I love the very light weight feel and very smooth operation. Great reviews/videos on these reels (CS10, their latest, comes in a little higher in price) and a company helping children get started in fishing. You will not be disappointed with this spinning reel.
N : Beware of Poor Durability
My good friend recommended me to Cadence products, and this reel was among one of the products I have recently purchased from them. However, the durability is deeply disappointing. I could count on one hand how many times I used it before the reel snapped by the reel foot. I usually don't write reviews, but the durability was so poor that I had to mention something.

Cadence stands by its warranty and has excellent customer service. Used a Cadence 3000 several times a week for trout fishing and it worked flawlessly for about 6 months when the gears started catching. Sent an email to the company and they immediately got back with me. They requested a short video of the problem. A couple days later I got a new reel in the mail. As with the last one, the new reel is light and smooth with perfect drag.
