Questions about Cadence CS8 Spinning Reel, Ultralight Fast Speed Premium Magnesium Frame Fishing Reel with 10 Low Torque Bearings Super Smooth Powerful Fishing Reel with 36 LBs Max Drag & 6.2:1 Spinning Reel
Q:
How does the features of your reels compare to reels costing much more?
Answer: When we develop our products, we focus on value. For example, our body is made with Magnesium, which is unprecedented at our price. However, using magnesium really reduces the weight. Our product compares in features to reels costing $120 and up. When comparing to the competition, we focus on benefits like weight, smoothness and durability.
Answer: One thing that no one has touched upon is the way this reel is designed. It is perfectly contoured to blend perfectly with reel seat on the rods I have mounted on The taper on mount is Awesome makes the reel integral part of rod. The reel handle is an extension of your hand. So perfectly smooth and dependable. I have other reels costing 200 dollars and this reel is same feel and quality if not better. This is one tough reel very durable.
Answer: You can't touch a full magnesium body spinning reel of this quality for under $150 if you can get on for that. Buy it. You will love it.
Q:
What cs8 is comparable to the penn ssv3500?
Answer: The CS8-3000 is very close in size to the SSV3000. However, the CS8 has nine ball bearings while the Penn only has five!
Q:
Anyone compared the cs8 to the daiwa fuego lt?
Answer:
Answer:
Q:
what does the a mean after the 2000a size?
Answer: Ambidextrous
Answer: I believe it means you can change handle from one side to other.
Answer: I believe it is ambidextrous, as you can switch from right or left hand retrieve.
Answer: Ambidextrous
Q:
Will this reel hold up to saltwater fishing?
Answer: They are not specifically designed for saltwater. We have had them on a charter boat for 6 months and a review of the product last week proved they have very good corrosion resistance. Extra care must be taken to rinse your reel with fresh warm water after each use.
Answer: I have periodically used several freshwater only reels in saltwater over the years. They have all held up with no issues. That is for periodic use without the reels EVER being submerged in saltwater. I have always thoroughly rinsed them with freshwater after every use in saltwater, If you don't dunk it in saltwater or use it mostly for saltwater and remember to rinse it with freshwater after every use it should hold up well. If you plan on using the reel in saltwater most of the time you should buy a reel designed for saltwater use and even then it should be rinsed in freshwater after every use in saltwater.
Q:
Is this company like kastking? they popped up overnight with 5 star reviews and their product is garbage. how do i know youre legit?
Answer: Great Question - We are American owned. We are small but have years of experience in the industry. We formed Cadence to sell product and make a profit, but we also use a portion of the profits to get more kids fishing. Our first charity is Cast for Kids. We donate a rod and reel combo for every product sold over $50. We only sell direct and also pass some of those savings along. Not everyone has a 5-star opinion of us, but we strive to make that a reality.
Answer:
Answer:
Answer: I don't know about kastking, sorry. However, as a great grandmother who has been married 48 years and is an avid fisherman (along with my honey), WE expect good quality in the things we buy. If it is garbage, we contact the company and GET results. I was in business for many years and EXPECT good quality. I was not able to fish this year, but my husband got this late in the season, used it a few times and loves it. We shall see, but for us, it was a good buy. I wish you well. Fish on!!!
Answer: My reel is as smooth as butter. If you have been a fisherman a while, you will see and feel the quality when you get it in your hands. Besides that, you can always return it. Thats what I like about Amazon.

Answer: 6.3 oz
Q:
Item title description states 36# max drag while spec sheet on company website states 19# max drag. which is correct?
Q:
What action rod do you recommend for this reel?
Answer: It really depends on which size CS8 reel you buy. The 1000 and 2000 size reels go great with anything from ultralight actions to medium light. The 3000 and 4000 size reels pair better with more medium to medium-heavy rods. Make sure to check out our CR5 rods because they match this reel exceptionally well!
Answer: Fast to Moderate. I have mines paired up with a TFO TFG FWS 761-2 Travel Rod 7’ 6” Ultra Light Fast Action. Beautiful combo. Colors go well together too. Hope this helps. FishOn????
Answer: I coupled mine with an Okuma, Nomad ,3 piece travel rod. 7 ft medium action. Took it to Alaska, where I was really satisfied with both rod and reel, on salmon
Answer: The Cadence rods are excellent choice for this reel. I put mine on a fast action 7' rod.
Answer: I have a 1000 series paired with st Croix trout series. A 2000 series on st Croix avid 6'6 med light for bass and pike and a st Croix avid 7 ft med heavy with 4000 series for walleye and musky all CS8 perform flawlessly.
Q:
What is the spool diameter of the size 1000? Thanks.
Q:
Would like to purchase a extra spool and will a 3000 spool fit a 4000 cs8 reel?
Answer: That i would not know. My first cadence reel.
Answer: I was advised by Cadence that the spools do not interchange.
Q:
Is 2 lbs test to small for this reel
Answer: I use 8 lb braided which is about the same as 2 lb and it work great. I have found that the good braided line works really good on spinning reel
Answer: I don't think so. I use 4lb in mine works great. You may want to add backer line first.
Q:
are you sure the cs8-4000 can handle 25# braided line. other sites say it has a 20# max? I plan on using it for pike fishing.
Answer: I used it with 50# braid on Silvers in Togiak AK and it worked flawlessly. It handled over a thousand fish in one season. I had four of these reels guiding at the Togiak River Lodge last season and the clients loved them. I used J-Braid
Answer: I have 40# on my CS8 not a problem, love the reel.
Answer: No. Do mot buy this. Broken first day.
Answer: Yes, it can handle 25# braid. The max drag on the CS8-4000 is 20lbs so just keep that in mind when you are playing the fish!
Answer: I own the 2000 size and that can handle a King Salmon so I’m sure th 4000 size can handle a Musky with no problem.
Answer: No it should be used
Answer: No. Do not buy them. First day broke.
Q:
Does the bail make a clicking sound when opened?
Answer: Yes, there is a definite click when the bail is fully opened.
Answer: Yes there is a click when you open the bail. I also close my bail by hand rather than reeling to close it, this saves putting stress on the bail, just something I've always done.
Q:
Where is this reel made?
Answer: I’m pretty sure they are made in China. I personally own the CS8 3000, elate 3000, lux 3000 and 2 CS 4s. My last two purchases were the Lux and the elate. I can honestly say I done care where they are made. They are good quality reels, I will definitely purchase them again!
Answer: Made in China. It's a nice reel which i use for pan fish.
Q:
Is this real good for striped bass on a 10-foot rod
Answer: I have a CS8 in the 1000 model which i use for pan fish but have caught bass on it too.you may want to go up a reel size bot the 1000 is fun to catch fish with just don't try to yank them in.Just play the fish a little more.
Answer: Yes in the 4500 series with braided line and a good quality rod probably one of the best you can use.
Answer: Mine is well suited to my 7 1/2 ft medium action rod
Answer: This reel would be perfect in the 4000 size for strippers.
Q:
Is it gold or copper colored?
Answer: The trim on it is actually a copper color it could look gold and bright sunlight for the normal lighting conditions it's copper
Answer: it looks more orange. definitely not gold
Answer: Copper
Q:
Can you switch handle sides on the Cs8 3000? If so how?
Answer: Yes. The handle and the little knob on the opposite of the reel can be unscrewed. The handle and the knob can switch sides.
Answer: Yes you can. Just turn the handle like you are going in reverse and the handle will spin off. There is a cap on the other side of the reel that you spin off and then screw the handle into the reel like you are reeling line in. Snug it up but make it too tight. I really like these reels and use them in my guide business. One of my clients broke one of the handles and Cadence replaced it immediately. They were easy to communicate and deal with. Hope this helps, If not, let me know and I will make a quick video and send it to your email.
Answer: yes. i am a leffty. unscrew cap on the opposite side, then grab handle and spin counter clockwise. oh yeah engage anti reverse first.
Answer: Yes you can. Unthread the handle from one side and rethread on the other side.
Answer: Yep
Q:
What would be a good size for bass/northern with 10 LB braid would the 3000 be ok?
Answer: Either the 2000 or 3000 would be ok.
Answer: Yes, it's what I'm using for largemouth bass.
Answer: The 3000 size reel is perfect for that line and targeted species.
Q:
Can you buy extra spools for the CS8?
Answer: I had questions about the size of the reel. I contacted the company via email and received an immediate response. They are a small relatively new company and they are very customer friendly. My suggestion is to go their Web site and contact them directly with your question. You'll get an accurate and quick answer from the horse's mouth. By the way, after buying and returning the CS8-3000 because it was too small, I purchased the 4000 model. Perfect for my medium-light 7' Bionic rod. The CS8 operates very smoothly.
Answer: Yes. Buy direct from the manufacturer.
Answer: good question- do not know but reel is smooth as silk
Answer: Not sure, but you can check with them by googling Cadence Fishing. They seem to be an excellent company.
Q:
How do the physical dimensions of the different "size" reels compare?
Answer: The 2000 and 3000 share the same body, but they have a different spool and rotor. The 4000 size is unique and larger than the 3000 size.
Answer: The spool stroke and depth determine the overall size of the reel. Because we are interested in providing a reel with lowest possible weight, we have minimized the size based on the constraints of the spool size. The spool size is best determined by line capacity. The line capacity is listed in the table under product description and it is also listed for the individual sizes.
Q:
Is the spool on the 1000 size the same diameter as the Daiwa 1000 size? Thanks.
Answer: The Cadence 1000 spool has a slightly smaller spool size. The CS8-1000 will hold 110yds of 6# mono while a Daiwa-1000 reel will hold 160 yds of 6# mono.
Q:
Were can i buy a handle for my cs8 4000
Q:
Anyone use their 1000 size for 2 lbs test and minijgs? Wondering if the drag is smooth enough for 2 lbs test.
Answer: Yes the 1000 size is great for 2# test while the smooth carbon fiber drag is sensitive and is continually consistent.
Q:
Is the reel suppose to have a decent amount of resistance? I tighten down the crank arm, but I’m surprised by how stiff reeling it feels.
Answer: I have bought two of these reels and would say that something is wrong with yours. It should be a very smooth and effortless reeling action.
Answer: No this reel is smooth due to the # of bearings and premium components that have been added to this reel. You may want to get a replacement sent to you.
Answer: Something must not be quite right. Mine turns freely and easily.
Q:
I need crank handles since they brake so easily. I absolutely love the reel but the cranks are a weak point. Can I buy extra cranks?
Answer: Go to the cadence website and request a new handle. They have a great customer service group!
Q:
What kind of line comes with these reels?
Answer: These reels do not come with line. They are however compatible with Mono, Braid, or Fluorocarbon. The spool is braid ready so it will not slip when under load.
Q:
Where are these reels manufactured?
Answer: Although these reels are manufactured in China they are of very Good Quality. Fit, Finish and Performance are all up there in line with the Stradic Family except a lot more affordable.
Answer: Like most other popular fishing brands, our reels are made overseas in Asia.
Q:
are you sure the cs8-4000 can handle 25# braided line. other sites say it has a 20# max? I plan on using it for pike fishing.
Answer: I used it with 50# braid on Silvers in Togiak AK and it worked flawlessly. It handled over a thousand fish in one season. I had four of these reels guiding at the Togiak River Lodge last season and the clients loved them. I used J-Braid
Answer: I have 40# on my CS8 not a problem, love the reel.

Answer: I own the 2000 size and that can handle a King Salmon so I’m sure th 4000 size can handle a Musky with no problem.
Answer: No it should be used
Answer: No. Do not buy them. First day broke.
Q:
Any thought on How much mono at 12# ?
Answer: Not sure what 12# is (perhaps pounds?). I have laid 4.5kg braid on the reel and matched it to a 3kg to 6kg Daiwa graphite rod. I have already caught a few 50cm+ trout as well as several species of saltwater Aussie fish. Bottom line is if you MUST use mono then I think you'll get less than 90 metres onto the spool. I got a full 150 metres of braid (above) onto the reel. Use the (force Luke) braid, much better.
Answer: The capacity for 12 lbs test mono is 160 yds.
Answer: Not sure....don't have that reel size and I use 6#. I suggest you contact the company, they are super folks. The reel is excellent
Q:
The handle broke on my cs8. how do i order a new one?
Q:
how much does the 2000 weigh?
Answer: I’m not 100% sure but I can tell ya this, it’s ounces and Grams. This reel is so paper light but incredible, you won’t regret purchasing it. I have 4 2000’s of the 8 series and they are just as good as the C10
Answer: Mine is the 3000. Isn’t that information on the description?
Answer: 13.1 oz. It's in the description. Love mine.
Answer: It ways 7.3oz
Q:
Are the gears cast or cnc? and...what is the pinion shaft made of?
Q:
Does the bail center up on top when you back real so you can pinch the line to cast?
Answer: No it does not. There is a cheap Shimano reel that has a trigger. But ! It’s not anywhere near the quality of the cadence.
Answer: OWNED SOME EXPENSIVE ULTRALIGHT REELS. USE MINE FOR TROUT FISHING.BEST EVER! OWNED 3 YRS.
Answer: Mine does not.
Q:
Whats the gears made of?
Answer: The pinion gear is aluminum making it durable, smooth and lightweight while the main gear is composed of Zinc making it smooth as well.
Answer: I do not know. This would require opening / disassembling reel.
Q:
does it have anti reverse?
Answer: Yes and it's INSTANT anti-reverse. It's really a great spinning reel.
Answer: Yes it does.....nice smooth reel!
Answer: Yes it is the lever on the underside of the frame.
Answer: I believe so i haven't used it much been busy
Q:
i am looking for a spinning reel to hold 100lb. line
Answer: Spinning reel or conventional? Braided line or mono?
Q:
Need a reel for salt water bay fishing on medium light rod. Need some advice on which size to use, A 2000 or 3000?
Answer: I bought this for the same type of fishing, and went with the 4000. It handled a 24 inch red fish with no problems, but didn't feel like it was to much reel for that size fish. If your fishing an area with smaller species of fish, I would go with the 3000.
Answer: I would suggest the 3000 or even the 4000. I use the 4000 for redfish and trout with 20lb braid and it works very good. The 3000 would be good for smaller species but I like to have extra line just encase I hook a jack or big redfish.
Answer: I would recommend a 2000 size reel for the ML action rod.
Q:
What are the gears made from? How many bearings support the pinion?
Answer: The gear is a zinc alloy, and the pinion is supported by two bearings.
Q:
What country makes this reel?
Answer: China, the same country that probably made any Daiwa, Shimano, Quantum or Lews you may own,. The quality and design is controlled by Cadence so you will get outstanding quality. Almost all but the most expensive reels are currently made in China. This is not a bad reflection on quality. It simply makes them affordable.
Answer: Makes by china but very very good reel. I think design by cadence & make by china for better price . I like better then mid range shimano reels
Answer: The CS8 spinning reel is made in China. We are US based supporting design, product management, and marketing in the US
Answer: China
Q:
Still come with free rod?
Answer: The CS8 spinning reel does still come with a free rod. You need to go into the Cadence CS8 reel page on amazon. Select the size reel you want and then the promotion pops up just below the retail & review stars area. Click on that and you can choose the button that says add both. Once you get to checkout the discount will apply. Thanks.
Q:
When will the 3000 and 4000 sizes be avail.?
Answer: The 3000 and 4000 will be back in stock in 3 weeks. We have plenty of the CS10's and CS7's.
Q:
Is there a customer service #

Answer: Copper

Product reviews of Cadence CS8 Spinning Reel, Ultralight Fast Speed Premium Magnesium Frame Fishing Reel with 10 Low Torque Bearings Super Smooth Powerful Fishing Reel with 36 LBs Max Drag & 6.2:1 Spinning Reel
Duane : Quality reel
What a great reel. I just went to the river and caught bass all day without a problem. This reel is flawless from the drag to the bale this reel performs !
My first reel was damaged so I just had to reorder, what a great reel !!
Joseph D. : I want another one!
Love this reel! I loaded it with 300 yards of 10 lb braid. I have been using it daily and all I can say is I want another one! I fish saltwater and have caught reds up to 29.5” and speckled trout so far up to 28”. Like I said I love this reel!!
Steve Adams : The reel feels and performs like much higher cost reels and is made to withs
I used my cs8 4000 reel mated with a 8'6" med/heavy elite ugly stick rod and used it for salmon in the Pacific northwest. It was easily my favorite rod and reel combo I have ever used. Unfortunately my rod and reel got stolen out of my car yesterday after I had been fishing for kings earlier in the day. I will definitely be purchasing another cadence reel in the very near future because I have never used a reel that was as smooth and felt as high quality as the cadence reel did.
Louis : Performed excellently on my Canadian Walleye trip
I used the CS8 4000 reel almost exclusively when fishing for hog walleye and pike on Lac Seul and Oak Lake in Western Ontario. It performed extremely well both on the lake and on my fly-in. I caught roughly 75 Walleye averaging 4 lbs and had no malfunctions.

Fred S. : Excellent light-weight Reel!
Perfect! Works great! Just as good as my Shimano C4I at half the price! Highly recommend!!
jeepscram1031 : Saltwater tested and it passed!!
I live on the water, and fish a lot. Loaded 20lb power pro on it and on a Cadence 6’9” heavy fast action rod realized it doesn’t cast as far with a 1/2oz spoon. Also have had many tangles because the bailer keeps pulling the line over the spool or causing tangles, but that could be the braid. Going to switch to 10lb mono and see if it cures the issues. Reel is smooth and everything seems to work as it should. I do all saltwater fishing with artificial lures. Lots of casting and retrieving.. I’ve actually caught a 6lb rockfish and this reel performed great. Drag is smooth and can be changed quickly. Also brought in a snagged cow nosed ray(about 20lbs) and it worked great.
Ka L. : A bit cheap feeling when you compare to a Shimano or Penn
A good price but I would pay a bit more for Shimano reel.
Amazon Customer : Love it!
This reel is worth every bit of money ! Everyone ive showed this reel to has been very impressed with the quality and price ! This includes the guy at the tackle store who put line on it , he asked where i got it ,and was very interested in it , I used it once already and is as smooth as any shimano reel ! Love it !
Nakok : I had a high hope but didn't live to it
First day of using tread for handle stripped while I caught a fish.
Chief206 : Nice Reel
I bought this reel because I had one of their rods and no reel.
This reel is a little on the expensive side. I've had all name brand reels so decided to try this out. So far so good. It's smooth and cast great line retrieve is excellent.
Hope to have many years of service out of this reel.
Carroll e. Greene : Good fishing reel
Nothing to dislike
Joseph D. : I want another one!

tpm : Reel performed flawlessly, very pleased
I have used the reel 3 times, last time rained all day. The reel has performed flawlessly so far. I paired the reel with a Cadence 7’0” medium CR5 spinning rod. The combo is balanced and lightweight, bass fishing for 7 hours catching small mouth and an occasional snakehead, with no fatigue. Looking forward to getting a Cadence bait cast combo soon. Cadence stands behind everything they sell, and have quality products.
Stacy Hesters : A solid GREAT Value reel
This is the third Cadence product that I have purchased and it is as great as all the others I own. This thing is well built and has a very smooth action that leads to fewer lost fish. I put this reel on my Cadence moderate fast action CR5-661S-MHMF rod and slayed a 5lb bucket mouth bass yesterday. Great fun! I would highly recommend this reel to everyone from novices to professionals. It is a high quality reel for a reasonable price.
Amazon Customer : Excellent quality at fair price
Excellent quality. Equivalent to reels costing more. I have now purchased three reels from Cadence as a result of my experience with the product.
PSpade : Smooth!
Wow, talk about smooth!
I love these reels. I have 2 of them now. I don’t know if I’ll purchase another brand because you can’t beat the value. I’ve put braid, mono, fluorocarbon and copolymer on them, and they all spool and reel so effortlessly.
Ray Devereux : Super smooth
I fell in love with the how smooth and the quality of the material. Only used it twice, but it will be number one reel I’m using now.
Caleb Krause : Great Reel, Great Price
I bought the 1000 series reel, and was amazed by how light it felt. You could fish with it all day, and will not be worn out. It casts smooth and reels just as smooth. The drag system seems to be durable as does the rest of the reel. I was surprised at what this reel could do for the price point. Great reel and even greater company. Will be buying more from them in the future.
amber gonzalez : Great customer service!
Great reel and great customer service! Caught some bass and crappie on it. Great all around! Broke the handle and they replaced his handle quickly. Can’t say enough about customer service!

Cord Kirshner RN : Smooth as silk and durable, no worries when fish on
Likes. Smooth as silk, light weight, easy casting, terrific value for the money. Handled a 7 lb trout like a champ.
Dislikes. It’s a little on the flashy side for my taste, but not enough to dissuade me from purchasing it. If it came finished in matte gun metal grey, it’d be perfect.
Bottom line. Terrific value for the money, and I would purchase again.
S. Anderson : Great company.
Cadence stands by its warranty and has excellent customer service. Used a Cadence 3000 several times a week for trout fishing and it worked flawlessly for about 6 months when the gears started catching. Sent an email to the company and they immediately got back with me. They requested a short video of the problem. A couple days later I got a new reel in the mail. As with the last one, the new reel is light and smooth with perfect drag.
Fred S. : Excellent light-weight Reel!
Perfect! Works great! Just as good as my Shimano C4I at half the price! Highly recommend!!

debbie pfenninger : CS8 Spinning Reel
I am very happy with the purchase of the Cadence CS8 Spinning Reel. I could see the quality immediately. Very light weight. Very smooth operation. The drag has very quick response and took little effort to dial it in. Great product.
Ryan B. : Great Reel at a Great Value
I took my new reel out fishing today and love it. Very smooth action, crisp bail flip, and we’ll balanced. I got the 4000 size and it’s perfect for smallmouth bass fishing. I would recommend this reel to anyone.
JoT : Cs8-2000
Lightweight seem durable, not yet fish w it. A fan Of Cadence
Row : Buy this reel!!!
Finest reel I've owned. The drag is absolute perfection. Beautiful machining.
John Rodriquez : My 20 year old shimano that sat in the garage untouched felt smoother than this reel!
Ordered one, as I finally had a place place, and some time to get back to my bass fishing passion after 20 years (kids????♂️). I figured these things should have evolved and be super smooth with incredible casting distance! Boy, was I wrong. Woth all the extra ball bearings, these felt awful. My 20 year old, shimano spincast reel with all of 3 bearings was way smoother than this reel. Figured I got a lemon, so I sent first one back and ordered a replacement. Nope... second one was the same. Thinking they sure don't make them like they used to. Able to find a Daiwa spincast and rod that was way smoother than this for less than the cost of this reel. All for small companies, but not for the sake of quality. Get yourself a Shimano or Daiwa and enjoy!
tpm : Reel performed flawlessly, very pleased
I have used the reel 3 times, last time rained all day. The reel has performed flawlessly so far. I paired the reel with a Cadence 7’0” medium CR5 spinning rod. The combo is balanced and lightweight, bass fishing for 7 hours catching small mouth and an occasional snakehead, with no fatigue. Looking forward to getting a Cadence bait cast combo soon. Cadence stands behind everything they sell, and have quality products.
Carroll e. Greene : Good fishing reel
Nothing to dislike
Thomas J. : Great drag and sturdy construction
Smooth and balanced. Great drag and sturdy construction. Great reel for the price. Quick delivery. One of the few companies interested enough to ask the customer's thoughts. I'd buy another product from Cadence!
Duane : Quality reel
What a great reel. I just went to the river and caught bass all day without a problem. This reel is flawless from the drag to the bale this reel performs !
My first reel was damaged so I just had to reorder, what a great reel !!
Ka L. : A bit cheap feeling when you compare to a Shimano or Penn
A good price but I would pay a bit more for Shimano reel.
Ray Devereux : Super smooth
I fell in love with the how smooth and the quality of the material. Only used it twice, but it will be number one reel I’m using now.
Amazon Customer : Great Reel, Great Price
Overall, an outstanding reel for quality and price. Lightweight and lots of features. This is the lightest 4000-class reel that I have ever used. After using other reels for the last few years, for inshore fishing, I was pleasantly surprised at how light this Cadence reel is. Lets you fish all day. And, while its a little thing, I love the large over-sized knob on the handle. I've caught 12 or 15 bass with this reel and it's smooth and sturdy. A great combo when paired with a Cadence CR5 rod. You can't go wrong with this reel.
Stag45331 : Outstanding!!
This is my second CS8 and I absolutely love these reels!! Long casting and a smooth retrieve...suprised at the number of pieces that are machined rather than cast...I HIGHLY recommend!! Do yourself a favor and pair it with a 7' 30 ton spinning rod...equally impressive!!
Amazon Customer : Excellent quality at fair price
Excellent quality. Equivalent to reels costing more. I have now purchased three reels from Cadence as a result of my experience with the product.
Luke Schroeder : Great reel if it will fit on your rods mount
Finally got a good chance to do a lot of fishing with this reel. The bale action is crisp and has a good snap. the drag works nicely and smoothly. At first i was worried, the crank seemed very tight and hard to turn but eventually it seemed to break in and loosen up. Couple of things to look out for on this thing. A big one being that it didn't fit on the rod I meant to put it on (A Fenwick Elite Tech). I've never encountered that before, a reel not fitting into the mount of a standard rod. Ended up putting it on a 7foot Fenwick HGM with some 20lb braid and the line just sings coming off of this thing. The balance is perfect on a high quality light weight rod. Perfect for pretty much any lure over 1/4 ounce. The other thing is I was fishing a river in waders and the reel got wet with the dirty water and the reel seemed to get full of grit or something and tighten up, kept getting worse until I dipped it in again to wash it off. Shouldn't be that easy to seize up a fishing reel of this kind. maybe a bait caster but not a spinning reel. Other than that I love it and it will be my new go to rod.
master yi : Broke a reel so easily.
I have been order this company couple month ago. But only used less than 10 times.
I returned fishing pole after first day. Now reel is broke when I fishing last week.
No good experience. It dose not strong enough.
I wish they can replace this or refund . Thanks.
JMW : Silky smooth
What a wonderful reel. Coupled with a Fenwick light rod, makes the perfect Crappie rig.
dr.dale : Well made reel. I would buy again.
Very smooth retrieve. Bale works well. Good drag. Lightweight. Good followup from the company. Waited to review until I had put it thru its paces on Alaska salmon, and it did great. I also love that the company uses some profits to help kids go fishing. I'm looking at buying a smaller Cadence reel for ultralight fishing

jeepscram1031 : Saltwater tested and it passed!!
Thomas Nukapigak : No readily available crank handles
Drop the reel once and broke reel handle before I even got it on a rod
initta : Good shipping
Have to wait until after my vacation.
Nakok : I had a high hope but didn't live to it
First day of using tread for handle stripped while I caught a fish.
Jeffrey Rider : Cadence totol garbage
Had for 1 week and broke total junk
