Does it have a counter?

Answer: no. I added a counter to my pole when filling reel, but I didn't need it. eventually I realized I could mentally count how many turns of the reel handle were necessary to put on a specific yardage of line. for example, if I wanted to add 150 yards of line, and my reel added 30" per turn, I multiplied 150 x 6/5 to get 180 turns... be aware the spooling station is limited to smaller spools of line. I don't remember the exact limit of the width of spool.

Answer: yes it works on left hand retrieve. That's what I have and it works great. it should work on left or right.

Answer: It works with either side, the reels only matter if the mounting bracket on the reel is too long like in some sea reels.

Answer: Not sure

When putting line on an open face reel should the line come off the spool from the top or bottom? I assume it comes off the top for a baitcaster.

Answer: I always go off the top. when you reel the baitcaster, notice that the top of the spool rotates toward you. coming off the top of the new line's spool, the line will keep the same curve that it had on its original spool.

Answer: However the line comes off the reel your spooling is how the line should be mounted in the spooling station. This prevents coiling and backlash

Answer: There is no battery used with the line spoiler.

Answer: Yes, the spool guide is long enough to hold a 4" size coils!

Does this work for spincast reels?

Answer: Yes it does. Bait casters sit in the seat just like a rod. Spincast reels will fit upside down and wind in reverse, but it works very well.

Answer: Absolutely, the bar sit high enough and holds very well! Thats what I buy at Bass pro,1 pound spools of 10/17/20/30/40/50 lb mono!

It spools up reels nice and tight. The only part is it feels very cheap for $30 but it hasn’t broken on me. The only issue I had is one of the the pieces to tighten down the line has not worked since I bought the thing. I use one of the o-rings that come with and it works fine.

Product came in packaging that was ripped opened and taped closed. Upon further inspection, the plastic hand nuts had been stripped from someone else trying to use pliers to tighten them. The plastic spring for the line holder was also broken off.

My fishing buddy has one of these and all it took was one use for me to realize I HAD to have one. I fish enough that I change my line annually and this little beauty makes that a fun and easy chore. I already had the line stripper that fits into a little pocket on this machine for ease in carrying. It is extremely easy to set up and use without needing any tools, which is great for portability as is the light weight also. The amazing thing is that it is really strong and durable. Fantastic tool to use anywhere and I honestly don’t know why I did not buy one sooner. Now it is a must for me on every fishing trip in case of an emergency. Buy one, you won’t ever regret it.

Did not make it thru the first reel. Very poorly made and natural stress points lack added strength. Opened the package. Followed instructions for set up. Mounted a reel and began to fill with line. Plastic mounting point for holding line spool broke below surface. Clean break. Un-mounted the reel. Tossed in trash.

This works well, I just tried with a few bait caster reels. Videos I saw online had a bunch of guys using this tool, so I wanted to get one to make it easier. I think this will help with spooling the line real tight versus having someone else do tension on the line. It worked as advertised.

I would however recommend a clamp to hold this thing down to a table or bench. This thing is cheap plastic and very lightweight. So while trying to apply a hard tension myself, it will bobble around. The rubber pads on the bottom really don’t do a ton. But it works. I wish it was a bit more sturdy for where the line spool attaches on the metal bracket though.
