Answer: It should work well. The 35 should be big enough to handle both. Good value for the price.

What is the max weight of the line drag on this reel by itself? And Do I need to get a stronger line for stronger fish?

Answer: Max Drag is 9lb but I have been using 15lb braid with 12lb fluorocarbon leader. I caught 3-8lb snapper in Cancun in the lagoon and several barracuda and multiple jacks over 10lbs from the surf. It would not be the reel I chose to catch these fish with but it did well.

Answer: The lady president's handles have a slightly smaller profile.

Answer: I don’t have them with me so I can’t be sure but I know the new Lady President is a better feeling reel than the original President. I believe it’s lighter. Personally if I could choose between the two I choose the Lady President. Best part is most people sell them for less because of the “Lady” label. I believe it’s basically the same reel as the President XT.

Answer: I have the 35 which is 9.9 oz. I googled the 25 and found the specs that say the weight is 7.2 oz

I asked my wife what she wanted for Christmas she said anything as long as it’s not something to do with fishing. I took that as some kind of female reverse psychology and that she really wanted her own fishing rod.

So that being said I started my research on a perfect combo for her.

I went with this Pflueger SP35 because I have had one for the last 5yrs (blue and gold) and has held up to everything from 30lb catfish to inshore fishing in the Florida gulf for Pompano and Whiting and it’s still silky smooth it’s the best bang for the buck as far as reels go. I have penns and diawa’s that have not held up as well as these reels, when cranking it is so effortless and smooth like melted butter. You honestly can’t buy a better reel for the money.

I matched this to the new ugly stik lady’s 6’6” Gx2 medium rod and it’s a perfect combination that rod weighs in at 6oz so the rod and reel combo is exactly 1 pound. Lite but strong enough to reel in whatever we are fishing for.

Since this rod and reel have matching pink and shiny accents I’m sure she is going to be super stoked to go fishing with me maybe...we will see but hey at least I tried and if she actually dose go it’s about as reliable as you can get.

I even managed to find some pink braided line by Godline !! Like wow I’m going to have to beat her with the ugly stik from bugging me to go fishing???? wish me luck guys!!

Not just for ladies. The Pflueger President is the best spinning reel I have found after 20 years of looking for a high quality lower priced reel. I see no reason the is considered a "ladies" reel. Nice looking. Smooth operating.

What a pointlessly gendered product. The "pink" designated for a woman's product is more of a red anyway. The internals between this and the regular Pleuger president are exactly the same, this reel just costs 10 bucks less for some reason. I like the colors on this reel better than the "mens" edition. Buy either but this one is just as functional as the traditional model.

I LOVE this reel!! I have small hands and the reel handle is perfect. I love the feel of this even my boyfriend likes it. I love that it works for leftys like me!!! I put this on my custom made rod and it works wonderful.
Only gripe, wish Pflueger would make a white and teal reel.
