Answer: I have mine on an 8’ ACC Crappie Stix rod. I think it’s the perfect size and weight for that rod.

Ok so i have had a TON of reels in my day, but all pretty hefty ones. I needed a small ultralight reel for catching bait and occasional crappie fishing, which i do now and again. I usually reserve this task to the cheapest of reels, but am always disappointed with the performance and feel. So this time i did my research and landed on this amazing little reel. Its buttery smooth, the drag is flawless and its built right. I would expect this little reel to cost so much more than 30 bucks. It puts anything i looked at or considered to shame in this price range. Fantastic little reel, i will likely get a few more and try some spider rigging with them :D Very happy customer.

First look is great, Reel has a good look and profile. Unfortunately, the real has a very notable resistance on the top end of retrieval at a slow rate. Trout fishing in NC with a defective reel of that nature would be maddening. I saw the same reports in a previous comment but tried anyways because I like the brand and it didn’t seem to be a consistent problem. I’m returning the defective and have a second otw and am hoping the replacement will prove this to be one of those rare defect cases uncommon with the brand. I will follow up after the second reel arrives. (Love amazons return policy btw js)

Started fishing lew's about 5 years ago and now I'm hooked . Can't beat a lew's
Lou1100 : Disappointing
Before spooling on some line it appeared to be great but the line goes on heavy on the rear of the spool and light on the front. Not conducive to good casting. Second LEW'S spinning reel of different models and 8 years apart and they both did the same thing. Also the drag adjustment wouldn't stay put. It is really smooth and everything else about it was fine but for just a couple dollars more at the BIG W store get a Shimano Sienna and get much higher quality. No more LEW'S spinning products for me. I do use their baitcasters though.

The picture clearly shows the 100 model. I have a lot of these reels in the 50, 75 and 100 models and love them.......these are 75s not 100s. I will keep and eventually use them as they are fine reels, but, beware, there not 100s. And the gear ratio is 5.0.1 , not 5.2.1. ??

Works fine right out of the box, respooled with old 4lb mono. Drag is not as refined as JDM reels, but can't complain too much. Reels in crappies without any issues.

Lew's impressed me again. Great buy for a reel under $30. Performs as good as my Pflueger President, with only half the price. I got a size 75, a bit larger than my size 20 president. Spooled with 10lb braid and paired with Berkely lightning and uglystik UL, it's my to go reel for creek fishing now, great fun fighting 2~3lb LMB/cats. Will get a size 50 in the future.

Bought the Lew's 50. At the start the reel was smooth retrieving but after about 3 weeks it started to "catch" sometimes when bringing in a fish. Great on crappies and panfish. Not quite sure if I'd buy another.
