OK so many of you have been watching my trials and tribulations as I dive head first into swimbaits.
There were trials....
and tribulations......
I mean,...Tribulations......
Each time I go experiment with a batch of new baits, some work, some don't, I come back and post a few questions and y'all answer up.
Last week, Big M gave me the final piece of the puzzle (Thank You!). The line tie placement. The 4 baits I had out the day before, 2 worked, 2 didn't, 1 of the working ones was only "so-so".
I took them out again, moved the line tie and Game friggin' on!!! I brought the same 4 baits and within 1.5 hrs, I had a fish better than 3 lbs on each one!!!! Thanks again to everyone who has helped me figure out what the heck I'm doing. You guys rock!!
Dude!
You rock...lures, fish and video, but I do have one suggestion for you...
Play a little Country Music and improve the "package" about 50%!!!!!!!!!!!!
;D ;D ;D ;D ;D

As for the country, good luck with that, haha, it's the one kind of music he won't listen to. That should get him a few good emailshaha
I'm pretty sure he has only been showing little clips of the baits here and there, wait till the fall video is out, we have lots of footage, some good stuff coming. We hope. Russ's computer, with most of the footage, is in the shop. Our fingers are crossed that it comes back with all the files still there. If it does, you all are in for a treat
Good job!
Now all you need to do is add the eye lashes
What did the lure end up weighting?
What rod reel combo did you use?
QuoteGood job!Now all you need to do is add the eye lashes
SHHHHHH!!!!
QuoteWhat did the lure end up weighting?
I have them from 3oz to 6.5oz (roughly)
QuoteWhat rod reel combo did you use?
I call it "The Big stick"
7'11' Shimano Crucial-heavy, a gift from RedlineRobert, teamed up with a Revo STX, a gift from Glenn. There are lots of great people involved in making this stuff special for me. Karma is key
Baits look great, but what happened to your hand?

Me and power tools,....we have this odd relationship, lol. Belt sander bit me. No worries, I bit it back. Dentist appt is next week.
My friends say I'm the only guy that can use a mitre saw as a hammer, saw, screwdriver and measuring instrument,....all in one, lmao. If I have safety glasses on,.....stand outside the property lines for your own protection please. Your families will appreciate the effort : ;D
Things look to be coming along, keep up the good work. Can't wait to see some of the new stuff.
looks really good! but do you have any vids of just the action?
i have one question,
you said you moved the line tie and they worked great, well where was the line tie before, and where is it now?
Quotelooks really good! but do you have any vids of just the action?
I'm keeping them all uniform for now as this is one big testing stage. All baits are black with white eye and black eyeball. This way, I know they are hitting the bait, not the finish.
When I have some done in finishes, I'll SURELY maske lots of videos. I have 4 different style wake baits so far, for different surface conditions.
Slow/chop fast/chop calm/slow calm/fast
Quotei have one question, you said you moved the line tie and they worked great, well where was the line tie before, and where is it now?
lowered it on the face They were dead center
Very nice pal. Cant wait to see one in person!
L-B-H,
Great job, I love watching your vids. Nothing better than a new piece of work that actually works and caught in pics or vids. I have been working on some swim bait rods using the spiral wraps and the guys are going nuts with them. They keep saying that the rods are 90% more stable then the conventional styles that they had been using...
Again great job & tight lines!!
Man that looks like fun.
Do you troll the baits or cast them?
I can't imagine casting a 3 oz bait.
Cast them but it's not as bad as you think.
Being wake baits, the retrieve is effortless so you really don't get tired like you would casting a retrieving a constantly moving sinking bait.
A proper rod makes all the difference in the world too.
congrats LBH!
i subscribed to your youtube channel ;D
so when can i get my hands on one of these things
What rod are you casting with?
Shimano Crucial 7' 11" Heavy
HEY GUYS let me get in line too I want one too! hahahaha
sweet work there Russ...
AL
Keep in mind, these are basic, I kept them all black for the "control" side of things. I'm looking for body styles with different actions so to keep things even, they are all the same (color).
However, I was at my partners house yesterday and saw some of the finishes his factory is planning for them,.......I'm VERY pleased, can't wait to show you guys. There will be Bass, Rainbow and yellow Perch
It's starting to get exciting

I do believe that it would be more like 75%.
"I took them out again, moved the line tie and Game friggin' on!!! I brought the same 4 baits and within 1.5 hrs, I had a fish better than 3 lbs on each one!!!!"
Was it the method of line attachment or the day? Playing with an animal that lives by no rules, it is very difficult to assess the difference.
Dead on GW. I think it was a combo of both. It was definitely one of "those" days but at the same time, a few of these baits really didn't even work the day before. The action was there but not the "wake" part. They would run juuuuust under the surface whereas my control bait, #16 would push water like no tomorrow. I was looking for something that does both. Moving the eye cured it.
LBH-
What happened to the video? Pics look good!
I just went to see the video and it says it was taken down due to copywrite laws.
QuoteI just went to see the video and it says it was taken down due to copywrite laws.
Because of the song I used :
I'll try and put together another one w/o the music.
As for the update,.......I have been getting pics back from the factory (of the patterns) and the samples look SWEET!!!!!
It's now a question if they work right, lol Hoping to test the samples in Kentucky. Keep in mind, the factory I am using has never made fishing lures before but they are TOTALLY into it. The feedback and communication has been awesome and their attention to detail is amazing. I can't wait to show y'all!!
One thing they are experimenting with, at my request, is a bullet proof finish. I made note to them that this is a big issue with the original slammers, after merely an hour with my last one, the finish was already falling off and not just where the hooks rub. For 50 bucks???? Can't have any of that.
FYI- The first run will be a 9" slammer knock availabvle in LM Bass, Rainbow Trout, Pickerel and Yellow Perch, the 4 main Northeast colors.
Second run will be the #16 rat as seen in many of my pics and vids.
Here ya go
Thats cool LBH, just caught up with it all myself, cool again
Hey LBH. When you made yours, did your lures require much ballast weight?
None. Wake baits
Yea I knew they were wakes. I knew they wouldn't require much if any at all. Just wanted to ask. I'm still very excited about seeing the baby bass version man. Don't keep us waiting till April!
Nice work Russ!!!!!!!
Can't wait for spring Though, I may be @ my timeshare in Florida the 1st week of March. Do you think they'll be available by then?
Any chance of making a video of the sander mishap? :-X ;D
Will you be taking pre orders?
How will we know when they're available and where can they be purchased?
ouch
LBH. Those are cool!
Careful around those power tools, bud.
Quoteouch
;D I was only kidding, but thanks for the laughs ;D
Your a funny MFSBTF
Correction, as Tin would put it, I'm a MFSBTLBH!!
as for the video, you know me, film everything, sort it out later
