Tired of not being able to find the thumping spinnerbaits and certain colors that I like, so I started pouring and tying my own. Fairly happy with how my first few came out.
Nice work—I would be proud of those too! Its very rewarding catching fish on lures you made yourself and you will definitely catch em on those!
Besides the SK Midnight Special I make all my spinnerbaits for the same reason.

Yeah I make so many of my own baits already, I've just been putting off making spinnerbaits because they're expensive to get into. I got enough orders almost immediately when I started making these that I already covered my expenses though so it worked out pretty well.
I have made a lot of spinnerbaits over the past 30 years so if you have any questions call me, I will PM you my number. You are off to a good start but there are a lot of nuances to spinnerbaits so I can save you time with trial and error.

Used to make spinnerbaits, jigs, and road runners. 35 years ago.
I sold them at fishing shows to support my tournament fishing. I was dirt poor back then.
Got the old do it mold out of mothballs and poured a few spinnerbaits this year.
surprisingly the components don't cost much more than they did back then.
Ball bearing swivels used to be like buying gold. now they are fairly cheap.
only problem is the largest cavity is 1/2 oz. would like to make some 1 oz. baits.
Those are nice looking. I like the shape of the head.

I got this mold because of the larger sizes 5/8, 3/4, and 1oz. BB swivels seem to be about a dollar each for good ones. Blades are pricey too.

I was thinking about getting a new mold with the heavier sizes.
the good swivels were about that price 35 years ago. I noticed the blades get pricey when you get to the bigger sizes.
Its pricey, but if you look at a good Quality 1oz. spinnerbait they are up around $10.00 or more. Plus finding one with a single colorado blade is tough.
@Bluebasser86 once this gov shutdown is over I would like to talk with you about getting some made. They look awesome!
Nice looking baits.
Finished up the last few for the orders I had and made a couple for myself as well

Nice. Need to try them out on some fat coal fired bass
You do good work. Those look great!

I bought mine in store, just happened to see it while I was walking around, but they have it listed in limited stock online as well.
Mmm, those hammered colorado blades. I could use a few of those for the rivers downtown.

Hard to find a bait with them anymore, and I love them in dirty water like I fish a lot.

Curious as to how good the blue, white and chartreuse is. I have a couple of spinnerbaits in that color and can't get a fish to look at them. Mine are not on chartreuse heads and have willow leaf blades.

It's a solid color around here, good bluegill imitation. That's one someone ordered.
These look great. I'm partial to hammered blades as well. Is there a specific criteria where you would choose to use the hammered blade spinnerbait over smooth blade?

Mainly in stained to muddy water which is primarily what I fish.
Well, they work caught a few more bass plus several big white bass on it Friday.
They were choking it very nice!!!!!

All those pretty colors to choose from, but they bite the white. Sometimes I think fish don't understand how to play this game. ????

It's a special white though, old school rubber that really flows nice. Plus those copper blades they never see. Obviously it looked good to them the way they were eating it.

A white spinnerbait is all I can get bit on lately. If I try to spice it up with different colors, they aren't interested. Copper looks great in the water I fish, but I never have any luck with it. I've never tried any copper blades though. All those you made look great.
I was just joking though. One time I was standing in a bait store looking at the choices, and this other shopper asked me if I knew why they made all those different colors, real serious like he was going to let me in on a big secret. He said, "So fishermen will buy them."

Ah, now here's a great argument for making my own spinnerbaits...single-spin colorados in general(other than dark-colored night-fishing baits), and especially hammered blades are increasingly hard to find. Love the copper too. And they would be great in my own murky local river, which I don't fish often enough.
In the late 70's I got my first baitcasting combo , it was a booger to cast . It was a red Ambassaduer 5000 with higher speed gears installed and 5.5' fiberglass Lews speed Stick . Looking through Bass Pro Shop catalog I found the Blakemore C.C. spinner . It was a black 1/2 ounce spinnerbait equipped with a number 7 "I believe" cupped , hammered , copper , Colorado blade . I bought a couple just so I could have something easy to cast at next club tourney . I won that event with three bass weighing 13 lbs . That was my go to spinnerbait for a few years after that. Roland Martin won a couple of events on big bladed baits and then everybody started throwing them . Kind of ruined it and now I mainly throw them in dingy spring time water .
Did one up with some big willowleafs. This is a good one in for the rivers when they're eating big gizzard shad for some reason.
I was getting some jigs ready too.
Im interested in getting into spinnerbait making. Did u use wireforms or roll your own. Also, do you use an powderpaint air brush to paint them or do u just tap the paint on. Thats my biggest hold up right now because i only have a fluid bed.

I'm using wire forms, both open and closed eye.
I'm using both a powder paint gun and tapping the paint on, mostly the latter.
I wouldn't want to make a lot of them but for the specific ones I want they're working very well and I'm very happy with my decision to make them.
