How about it folks, lets see some of your creations. Bassman, Tenka and a few others have posted pics and as a baitmaker myself I always enjoy seeing the work of others. Triton Mike and Rockinfish have replied on several posts, so come on guys lets see your baits.
Thats a sweet paint job Hopefully over the long weekend ill be able to get some new ones done and post them.
That is one sweet crankbait, love the paint. I got an airbrush for XMas, so hopefully I can try my hand at this soon.
Thats awsome. That pattern would kill over here.
I got this little guy done and tested. I diddnt think it would swim but it has kind of a searching action and it swims about two feet down. I designed it for a little pond by my house. It is my first attempt with foil.
I also am working on this one. Just needs paint and hooks.
awesome lookin baits bassman, that first one looks kinda like a thinn-man cb.
Neat foil job there Bryce, that is one neat little bait. The small baits are the hardest to make, at least for me, you just don't have much to hold on to.
Rainbow trout pattern. Now I just need to figure out how to get the Bubbles out :-/
Bassman, I want to be on your field staff. Seriously, those look super - good work. I want to see a pic of a big bass with one hanging out of its mouth.
8-)

Yeah man, can I be on your pro-staff? I hope I get a sweet discount.......... ;D
Seriously, if you do ever consider hiring a pro-staff I would be 1st in line.
Dang, I'm impressed!!! Those paint jobs look great!
I want to make one, but I have the painting skills of a retarded goat. :-[
I am wondering whre you can buy the depth divers and where you can buy them. I have seen the page http://www.bassresource.com/fishing/crankbait_making.html snd how to make the bait but what do you do after that? Also how long does it take to finish a bait. I kow i will get better after i get the hang of it. But originally how long did it take?
ethanmc, clear plastic baits can be had from Jann's Netcraft, Stamina or Barlows in about any size an type you want.
How long does it take? Well your first baits seem like forever but with practice comes speed. I might add that those first few will probably look pretty crude but if they are made correctly and run properly they will catch fish. Fish don't care what you paid and a bait that looks terrible in your hand may look great to the bass.
Sorry, but this line is just classic haha!!!

GobbleDogI hope you do not mind if I put that in my profile?
I finally have something to add, not high quality but a begining.

These are what the painting skills of a retarded goat look like!
My creation after screwing up the paint tomany time i just used a sharpie and some drafting pens.
The eyes on both are plastice gems for clothing just exopy'd on.
tenka, for first starting painting, those are awesome. yo should see mine. im just diggin the retarded goat thing
hahaha
Well here is a second attempt at making a striper lure...it's got like 3 coats of clear spray paint...should i use epoxy instead? I'm pretty proud of myself for how it looks like for a newbie!
this will be my 3 project, hopefully it will look better than the first.
That paint job looks great, but you should caot it with something a little more durable.
What are you useing tp make it, putty?
No it's made of wood, I had to carve it out of basswood. The first one i made was made out of balsa and when the stripers hit it, they pulled the hardware out of the wood. > But still trying to perfect it though..I actually thought of trying hard plastics but I don't have a clue where to start, but wood works for now. I still have to add the bill and tune it but it's pretty balanced right now with like 5 bullet weights stuck inside the body.
I'll put an outer coat of epoxy as another post here said to do for the final coat...any other advice would be good as I am a total newbie at this!
speechless... HOW BIG IS THAT SECOND LURE?!?! From comparring it in the picture, if your alarm clock is anywhere near the same size as mine... you've got a BIG lure.
It's about 9.5 inches...a big one! For all the big bruisers out there! You'd be surprised at what a trout can catch you! They're like candy for big fish!
Those are some impressive works fellas. That first pic posted is incredible. Skills.

Vern
Vern, if you are using microsoft you should have MS Picture It which can be used to resize your pictures. Most software that comes with a digital camera will also allow you to resize. Looking forward to seeing them.
ball-coach and hendrix190 thank for you comments on my baits.
Wow, that is AWESOME whittler... you are a professional...

So you sell your baits?
I don't know if this is going to post but I am going to try again!
The top one is a "Bill Lewis Rat-L-Trap" that I re-painted and the bottom one is my first one that I myself made. Tell me what you think... (I sure hope the picture will upload.)
Hmmm.. Let's try again!
Looks like your off to a good start there Vern, nice work.
Vern??? What are you using to apply this paint to the baits?
I've been useing an air brush. I'm still lerning with it.
