All you South Florida Snakehead hunters. The Animal Planet folks are coming down april 12 (next thursday) to film a show on the snakeheads. If you are able to take some time off to fish and participate in the show please let me know. This is an informal and non sponsored get together. They want to see some of you weigh in some fish. I know most wil be working and some of you are students, but if your interested just let me know.
If you guy's ever want to do a road trip think about the Potomac River, we'll let you have all the Snakehead you want!!!
shane, what time are you all getting together?
Has there been a location picked?
I believe we will be meeting at 6-6:30 a.m. and back at 3:00-4:00 pm. Pretty sure we will use the veterans Memorial Park at the corner of Rock Island Rd. and SouthGate Blvd. Will update tomorrow when all the details are worked out with AP.
I will finally have a use for those banjo minnows.
Will the "Animal Planet" have any problem with all you all terminating all those snakeheads??? Somehow i don't think they want snakehead clubbing on video! LOL
That's what the editing room is for

im willing to join capt. shane... just keep updated boat ready and poles are lined up.
The meeting place is probably going to be Veterans Memeorial Park on the C-14 canal. It is at the corner of Rock Island Rd and SouthGate Blvd. between 6 and 6:30 am. Back at either 3or 4pm. Stay tuned I'am still working out the fine print with AP. I'll post up tomorrow about a certain place and time. Hope alot of you fellas can come out.
I'll second that, I catch dozens of those in that river. On 4/3/2012 at 3:18 AM, Traveler2586 said:If you guy's ever want to do a road trip think about the Potomac River, we'll let you have all the Snakehead you want!!!

They make delicious subs
Fellas,
There will be raffle tickets given out to each angler. Some of the prizes are high end reels(I'am picking these up and was thinking about Shimano?), Guy Harvey prints, hat, shirts, baits, and alot more. Everyone should get some swag. JD'sCustomBaits will be frying up some snakehead for us to eat at weighin. I was looking over the legal releases and it seems that we probably will not be able to video any of the event. The host of the show is the wrestler known as Eric Young. He looks like he'll be alot of fun.
What about pictures during the event?
I will be there may have a empty seat, if any body is looking.
Have him do the neckbreaker on a snakehead!

Now thats some funny stuff!
BassChaser, send me an email so I can get the release out to you.
Hey Shane, can we sign the release form the morning of the event, or is that something we have to do beforehand?.

There will be forms available at the morning meeting.
I will be pretty busy for the next couple of days, but this will go off rain or shine. There will be a snakehead fish fry at weighin, compliments of JD'sCustomBaits.
shane an the fee is each person or just for one boat? and if theres more than one person on the boat does both have to sign release and if so same release or seperate forms for each person.
Everyone must sign an individual release. The 20 is per person....
ok ty
Is 530 when registration begins or take off? Is this just boats only or will there be people fishing from land?
Be there at 5:30 to turn in forms and have angler meeting to go over rules and stuff. We will release everyone as soon as meeting is over. Both boaters and shore walkers.
I have no boat so I assume we will be fishing off of the c 14 itself (shorewalkers)
When is this?

Wish I could have been there, Shane. Unfortunately I had to spend the morning in my shop prepping a bunch of stuff for a client.
I saw some of the stuff you guys got sent for the raffles and prizes. Very cool stuff. Glad to see some more companies starting to support the roundups. Well done, guys.
Good turnout today, I'm baked
Lol ^ how was it what was the biggest catch an weight?
mannnnn. I really wanted to go darn jeeps..
i believe heaviest fish was around 11.5 lbs and measured 37 inches and most was like 47.
Fellas it was a great time today with Eric Young from Animal Planet's "Fishing America". We had alot of representation from the South East Section of Bass Resource.
Total of 172 snakeheads and 106 bass caught today. Winner of big fish was Austin Pavelic with a 37 incher, congrats man! Winner of most fish was Steve Papp with a grand total of 46 snakeheads.
Special Thanks to Robert Perez (South FLA) and his buddy Justin for giving their time and bass boats for the filming crew. That's one bad azz Bullet!

I think the 21st...Ill pass unless I can ride on a boat because I got tired of driving and walking around on foot after a few hours. I kept going to the same spots I know in a loop
my largest of the 4 I caught was 5lbs 7oz
random pics
Diggy I.told you to call me. If you want to go to the tourny/get together let me know if you wanna go on a boat my boat is ready my truck has new coilpack and ready to go to but good pics. Btw
No problem, Ill hit you up
Has anyone cooked and eaten a Snakehead?
I know they are cherised in the Orient and was wondering if you can tell me how they taste.
Like chicken?????
I ate a few pieces that were batter dipped yesterday in some mixture. It was good, clean white meat without a strong flavor .....but....knowing where some of these are caught would keep me from eating this. The mental assassination of a crappy canal with a shopping cart and industrial spill off running into it and food don't work for me. Maybe if you catch your own out of a clean lake or something but Im not frying up any muck fish unless theres a financial reason or life and death. Id still probably go to the pier before that happened
Pretty darn good, Sam. Fry em up! Like Diggy mentioned though; I don't think I'd eat them on a regular basis knowing what's in some of the canals down here.
Im practicing catch and release with these now. Im not a killer of fish unless its for the tourney where I know someone will eat them later. Ill just let them back into the water with one eye
DITTO! i don't even eat fish, but I figured I try a piece just to say I did.On 4/14/2012 at 1:20 AM, Diggy said:I ate a few pieces that were batter dipped yesterday in some mixture. austin pavelic the kid that caught the big snakehead he used a bow yesterday for the roundup or pole ?

He was skeet reesing it with his buddy, both had black n yellow poles with live targets on the line. I introduced them to the booyahs which I think theyll try out.
I got to use one of those JD frogs and ended up missing a big fish because I decided to use a swimbait hook. The weight stopped the tip of the hook from passing the recessed area on the JD frog. I would have probably hooked that fish with my normal frogs with the same hook or using the regular hook with the JD frog. Its my fault because the jd frogs are much heavier and I was using that hook to add casting distance that I didnt need.
^oh ok cause that kid is master minded with his bow. But yea booyahs guys half the price an same quality .
You arent lying, his vid on youtube is how I recognized who he was...both he and his friend were cool...
Does he ever wear shoes lol?
I honestly dont know but im sure he always footing it. More.comfortable. Lol my bro an nephew met the kid they said he was really cool as well.
Wow I wish I had shown up just to see what everyone brought in!
