Rick..... and Preeb is almost my last name.
My initials are JB and I live in Maine. Not very original but there you go.
I used to make jigs for a boat dock. They only took delivery (100 dozen) once an year and could never remember my name so when I walked it invariably someone would say, "There's the jig man."
because old and slow was already taken
Because I love bass fishing and to a lot of you guys I’d be considered way up north.
Because what my wife calls me is not code of conduct compliant on the forum.
As my avatar shows....I have a '79 CJ that my wife says is "too tall" for her to get in.

Pro log catcher was already taken. I may not be a pro. Once in a while I miss a log instead of catching it.
had trouble finding a screen name. I am obsessed with fishing vegetation, so weedwhacker was born .

Most fishing forums, (but not so much on this one) have issues with guys hiding behind an alias and saying a lot of rude things that they might not say to someone face to face. On a forum that I moderate, we don't allow people to use an alias or nicknames at all. So I've always used my real first name on every forum I sign up for.
I just wanted to be incognito.

You'll have to wait another 80 years to find out. Oh wait in 80 years I'll be on the wrong side of the grass. ????
Some guys I used to work with had trouble pronouncing my last name. So I got the nickname The Ess. Later another guy with that nickname came to work there. But since I had been there longer, I became The Real Ess. Since this is a fishing site I changed Real to Reel. Thus, The Reel Ess.

You're a Yankee fan that lives in Boston?
I live in Michigan (mitten or mitt shaped), and I love this state. I love getting excited about fishing here, and hopefully having that pour out into my communication with others.
If I get just one person excited, and they give it a shot, then my job is done. Whether that's fishing for the first time, or fishing in Michigan for the first time.
Previous name was SemperBass.
Semper (Latin for always - taken from my time in the USMC)

Bass
= Always Bass. That was my mindset anyway. ????
I'm a LEO, I fish for bass, I was born in 86.

Last name, First name
The first few names I tried were taken and Scar Face was on TV .
I have to sons ...... Matthew and Mackenzie
We call Matthew (Matt) and Mackenzie (Kenzer) ..... thus, mattkenzer
First name, middle initial, Im super clever that way.
It's short for Reel Reason, which is in turn short for Know Reel Reason which was the name of my boat, which is a pun having to do with the way I fish(ed) and some 70s prog rock.
I'm from Missouri, I'm a male, and I was born in 1973
My name is Todd and I live amongst alot of trees.
Mine was earned... took a 1/2oz bullet sinker just above my right eye. It actually went all the way in and looked like one of those crazy eyebrow implants people get.
John Franchot.
jfrancho was my login for my old employer's network. First initial of first name, first 7 digits of last name. That's why the t is nipped off. If there was another jfrancho, I'd be jfranch2. I've used that login for just about everything. The Bass Resource software wouldn't allow you to have the same screen name as your log in, so I used "J Francho". What's funny, I now respond to "Jay Frank-O," in person even though that's not how my last name is pronounced. Don't get fancy, it's not French, just pronounce it the way it's written, using the most basic rules of English.
I'm just...Darren. Simplicity, no guessing, my name.

Because all I ever catch are dinks!
My mom would always call me a lazy burro when I wouldn’t clean my room as a kid so I picked burros. Being called a burro is associated with being a lazy person or a jackass in Spanish.

Then you're a really good specialist.
2 Daughters. Middle names are Jade and Rose. Easy peasy. Real name Chris Strom. A delicate little flower, I ain't.
I chose Fishing Cowgirl because I would get home from school and get on my pony with fishing pole in hand. I would ride him up and down Shingle Creek (Kissimmee Chain) and fish.
I literally eat, sleep, and, breathe fishing. I'm always out fishing or studying on how to get better.
My nickname is Steve-O and I was born in 1969. And because there is not one creative bone in my body...
My screen name was Bird Dog for many years because I had an old bird dog that used to love riding in my boat. Now that she's gone, I just use my name. The S is for Steven.
I'm a huge Tennessee Volunteer fan, always have been. Birthday year is 1959.
Alliteration....

I’m from originally from an island where bass aren’t native but like all if you love bass fishing, hence islandbass. I didn’t have enough creativity to think of anything else for a screen name.
Hope people don’t think I’m a bass player, lol.
My grandkids call me papa and my daughters call me dude.
My screen name was the name of a music project I put together on CD before the age of social media. I have played guitar since my teens, and on this project I played everything - bass, keyboards, drums, guitars, and even programmed some drum machine patches. (At the time, drum machine patches were pretty ugly, and in my opinion, most still are.) While I believe the music was solid and well-played for the most part, the recording quality suffered as my amateur abilities with the recording software of the time left much to be desired.
I have thought about changing my name to something else (lucid1 maybe?) but since I am known by the "senile1" moniker I have been hesitant to change it.
Loodkop is Afrikaans for lead head.
I make and fish a lot of jigs.
Favorite lure....
My last name is frost, yes like the snow man, no I’m not related to jack, but I’m good friends with the other jack... the one you don’t know...
My mom picked mine in 1965. How did she know I'd need that exact name for a bass fishing forum...?
Whit= Whitnel NC a small town I lived in back in 99 when I got my first computer.
Wolf: short for N C State University
whitwolf
83, year I was born. My parents were from West Virginia and moved to Maryland before I was born. My dad was an avid hunter and fisherman, started my love for everything outdoors early.
In elementary school, my mom used to pick me up after school in our '93 Ford Bronco with a bug visor on the hood that read "Mountain Man". I used to get teased all the time about it, until I begged my parents to take it off. Ah, the stupid little things that mean nothing. I'd give anything to take another ride with my mom in that Bronco with "Mountain Man" proudly displayed on the front of that hood.
I joined here in the mid 2000's, when I was into gaming on my PC. This was my old name on 'America's Army'. I suppose I'm due for an update

When I started on discussion forums, about 15 years ago now, I made the decision to use my own name. It was impetus to be honest and... willing to be set straight if I got too uppity.
It helps me remember who I am and where I live !
First letter is the first letter in my first name. Rest of it is part of my last name.
I like to throw crankbaits. I also like to play bass guitar.
I wanted Dens but numbers 1 through 227 were already taken.
Grew up in, around, and on brackish water. No matter where I’m fishing locally, I’m usually targeting one type of bass or another.
Fishing is WET, and I DREAM of fishing, and when I dream of fishing I...
When my girls were elementary age they called me daddyo. One year I joined a gym and they started calling me Buffdaddy. Looks like I'm going to have to change that to FLAB_OUTTA_SHAPEDADDY!
lol mine is my name and was my SWAT call number
Because it sounds cool to me, truth be told, I'm still learning the drop shot, but fell in love with it when i landed a 6+ smallie on Mille Lacs last year
Mine is obvious, but there is another fishin dad on here with a space or underscore or something. Love my girls and being a Dad! Might need to change the screen name though.
I use Boomstick because that's been my gaming tag for years. Taken from Army of Darkness...

Hmmm . . . . never thought about that when I joined. By the time I started on this forum honesty was always a necessity for me. It didn't matter if my screen name wasn't my name.

Hmmm... Didn't think about how that might be taken. Honesty has never been lacking in me. Forthright, sincere is more like it; That I am willing to put my name to my words.
The "uppity" part was for a bit of humor, although there is some truth in there too. My wife has said about me, "Paul isn't always nice, but he's always good." I have been called "driven" at times, and I am in my interests. Not for personal gain ("unfortunately" says my wife) as much out of sheer passion. So... I often have a lot to say, and will question something I don't agree with -for sake of clarifying the subject; I really want to know. Hopefully not coming off too strongly, or stepping too firmly on toes or beliefs. Years ago, while being interviewed for a research position, I was asked why I wanted to do science. I replied unhesitatingly, "Because I want to see the face of God." It wasn't hubris, or overconfidence; It was pure passion.

I didn't read anything derogatory in your comments, Paul, and I agree with your sentiments. I just meant that I never thought about using a screen name to hide behind on any forum I joined. I have even joined some forums that required your screen name to be something other than your real name. So, I just didn't think of it as anything other than a catchy name to use. Often, I have signed my actual name - Von Guttenberg Heffenfeffer - to correspondence with individuals.
Don’t think of it as my screen name ... think of it as truth in advertising!
Because of this sunshirt I wear whenever I am hiking or fishing.
My hiking buddy likes to make fun of me for it, I think I look mysterious and important
