I thought it would be fun to see some personal fishing spots (not known lakes ) and maybe swap ideas on how to fish em. I started with a small pond i've asked about on here before. I put some marks on it to help: Yellow area saw bass 4-5 chasin bluegill, Red area caught a 3 lb around the brush, White area PB 7lb (yay) ..and yea it really is that green.. ;D

I have caught some very nice fish in the white areas marked. Throwing a spinner bait over the weed beds. I started fishing this lake in late august. Cant wait till spring.

Here's my fishing spot, It's only 2 blocks away from my house, so easy walking/biking distance. The red X is where I stand, and the green rectangle is where I usually catch quite a bit of fish. It also is the exact spot where I caught my PB, a 6Lb 9oz bass.

My honey hole...
Red X is parking/launch
Orange circle, this year alone... 7lbs, 6.6lbs, and 3 5lbers.
Red line, original creek channel, lots of 2lbers
Green circle, gets covered in Lily Pads and is where we saw a 36"+ Bowfin and I caught a 13lb Northern. (Rage Shads were invented for this spot).
Yellow line is where the Canadian lady forgets her top... a lot. Also a good number of overhanging trees, dropping Ikas under them is guaranteed action.
Pink area, this place is just like those National Geographic Anaconda shows. 2-4 feet deep, Lily Pads choking it, LARGE Bass have been seen, and fought there but never landed.
And finally anywhere you see water you aren't actually seeing water, it's 10-18" Pickerel, yep it's that thick with them...

1 Open MSpaint.
2 Go to googleearth or Bingmaps and get you pond/lake/spot.
3 Hit the print screen button on you keyboard
4 Go back to your MSpaint tab,go to edit and paste. I then used the tool that looks like a square made with dashed lines and used that to highlight/select just the map part I wanted.
5 Go to edit and hit copy.
6 Go to file and select new.
7 Go to edit and hit paste... You should have just the map part there. Then you can add the x's and o's, etc.
8 Save it to your computer then download to here.

If your using FireFox you can just get an add-on like ScreenGrabber, that just saves a cropped area wherever you choose to save it.

Thanks y'all, I got it figured out. Here are the main spots I fish on Lake Waco. The first two are from the same ramp, one is north and one is south. The red "x" marks the ramp, the yellow lines mark areas I always fish and have caught fish.
North of ramp
South of same ramp
This are is at the north end of lake. A creek comes in in the upper left at the arrow and the river comes in at blue arrow.
The blue "x" on here marks where I caught the fish in my avatar, my PB

Here is the lake I visit most. It is shore fishing only no live bait but nightcrawlers. A 1/8oz blue/black jig w/baby rage-tail craw worked well the little number of times I used one. Fished there for years but never used a jig till a couple months ago. Looking forward to this coming spring to see what the jig will do.

Bad Bass: I'll bet you'll tear them up in the spring at the narrow part of that pond.
Sharp shooter: that area is tailor made for some good fishing.
Webertime: i'll bet you fish aroud that yellow line ALOT! ;D
Red: I'll be there on Sunday, please have the boat ready

I was thinking the same thing, that area where it narrows out is around 12 feet deep the area marked is a weed bed. 1 foot shoreline then water is about 4 to 5 feet deep until dropping straight down to 12 feet. Does anybody think this 12 foot drop off would be a good place to drop shot and jig a spoon in the winter months? Nice looking lakes and ponds everyone, It would be neat to hook up and fish'em all.

Small neighborhood pond within walking distance from my house. The pond has lots of bowfin and bass. I have pulled out many 5+ fish. Biggest was 6+ out of the far right box. In between the two ponds there is a 3ft waterfall which is great for fly fishing! The best fishing is found in the black boxes. For a shallow lake (deepest spot 5ft), this lake holds some nice bass and giant bowfin.

If your lake doesn't have depth contour data, just email them, and they'll research it. I've had a couple lakes added.

John, I'd be remiss if I didn't thank you for this website, which is my idea of sharing.
Lake charts without depth lines are like dinner plates without food,
but the Angling Technologies Mapper is a full plate. In a word, "incredible"!
I'm currently using both Garmin and Navionics cartography on every lake I fish,
but frankly both are fraught with inaccuracies. I live just minutes from Lake Kissimmee
(four turns from my community), so I'm intimately familiar with many of
the chart inaccuracies. The Angling Technologies Mapping tool is remarkably accurate,
and I can see several areas where it's more accurate than expensive GPS cartography
from Navionics and Garmin. I never thought I'd be saying that,
but it happens to be a fact.
In addition, I was able to import my Garmin waypoints under their GPS button.
I choose the Garmin.gdb format and it imported my waypoints
in their saved DD.ddddd syntax (slightly greater precision than "DD.MM.mmm" syntax)
Thanx again
Roger

I wonder how long the lag time is for Google Earth? Sometimes I look at my house in it to get a good sense of how old the data is so I can use it to look at lake levels before I go out fishing. It's just not too reliable some I think they update the imagery in the city more often then in urban areas for traffic monitoring programs. I have found some of the best fishing wholes in Google Earth though just following the major rivers here looking for little pools that I eventually drive and check out.
