Just wanna know what your guys' plans for 2011 are since there's about one month left before the new year.Im excited for it cause i want to start the new year off great and fresh and get better at techniques and learn new things.I didnt get to fish as much this year because i started football plus we were boatless for about 2 months because we sold our boat and it took us awhile to get a new one.Overall we've also just been busier than usual.Plus the fishing this year just wasnt that great for us anyway. So ya,lookin forward to a fresh start what about you guys?

2011 is going to be my first year in semi-full retirement. No weekly payroll clients, no monthly financial statements, no income tax returns piled high all winter, just a few days a month of consulting work.
So far the only part of the plan I have figured out is going to be staying away from the telephone as much as possible!

Well, what I would like to do and what will actually happen are often miles apart. But, for starters, I'd like to do a whole slew of ice fishing and, perhaps, actually catch a few walleye through the ice. But I'll settle for bluegill. This spring, I'd like to go to Rend Lake for some crappie fishing. A buddy and I plan to camp/fish at our favorite lake and (my thoughts), try a neighboring lake for crappie. The Kankakee river (a bit of a drive for me) holds some nice smallmouth and walleye but I seldom seem to hit it right. Maybe this coming year will be better. Other than that...your guess is as good as mine.

This year is up in the air because of my job. If staff reductions take effect, my fishing plans will or may go out the window. My goals are to fish at least thee local team tounaments early, get to Clear Lake CA in April, try to fish a local circuit or as many events as possible with my buddy and learn some new small mouth water. The gravy will be to match my last trip of this year which was a good one.

I'll be doing the same old same old. Fishing when the weather allows and the water is not hard.
This past year was the worst I have had in many a year. The fish were hard to find after the spawn and the smallies just disappeared. Even the best white bass lake had a die off and fall fishing for them was nonexistent.
I'm looking forward to a better year in 2011.

Fishing tournaments will be the same as last year. Im building towards bigger plans in 2012. So this year will be all about trying to establish my new career to allow me to follow my dreams. Hopefully the fishing in Nor Cal returns to the better days of the past.

Planning to start tournament fishing as a non-boater through Inland Empire Bass Club out of Spokane, WA.
Just need to get down there and introduce myself as soon as classes finish up this quarter.

Basically, I'd like to spend more time fishing with pals and less time fishing by myself. Most of my pals have radically different schedules and making time to fish together is a pain.
Myself and 8 or 9 different pals have talked about taking a week and all going fishing. We've set a date and a place, far in advance (2nd week of June) and now we'll see how many can show up.

Well, I made my 2010 goals - get off the bank and on the water (got a canoe) and to catch 1,000 bass (I'm at 1052 as of today). For 2011 - I guess my goals would be to wean myself from my confidence baits and to learn new baits/techniques, to better understand and exploit underwater structure, to better understand and use my sonar, and to improve the quality of the fish caught (larger average size). Not as quantifiable as the 2010 goals, but goals nonetheless!

Mid-to-late summer 2010 i bought myself a couple of new combos and started dedicating more time to baits (e.g. jigs) and locations (e.g. deep water) that used to completely fail me. I started catching a LOT of fish. So now I am looking forward to a full year -- including some cold weather fishing -- using all the lessons I've learned this year.
I'd also like to start getting fish on senkos, which are my only remaining "popular" bait that still fails me...

You know another goal id like to add is to try to gain more confidence in my lures while getting better with them.Maybe a few times ill leave everything but a few rods and select lures out of the boat so i'm forced to use what i have

Do what I always do, saltwater in the morning and freshwater in the afternoon. For the last few weeks I have been fishing with Stu Tinney, a hall of fame fisherman, we have a few trips planned.

When I first started fishing I used to crankbait fish all the time. I haven't crankbait fished for at least 8 years and want to dedicate a good part of 2011 fishing them again.
I'm also hoping to get my buzzbait mojo back. The buzzbait bite, for me, has been nonexistent for 3 years now. :-X

1. Update the site more often
2. Learn more casting techniques and presentations with the fly rod.
3. Use the fly rod more for bass.
4. Target Muskie and Pike (I always set out to do that and end up bass fishing anyway).
5. Take my son out with me as much as possible.
6. Get my brothers out more.
7. Possibly do a BASS Northern Open tourney as a co-angler.
Everything else is just bonus after that

I wouldn't mind fishing my first tourney at some point next year. I've never really had the urge before. I just keep wondering what fishing is like when there is something on the line besides fun.

2010 was by far my best year. I caught more an bigger bass. I gained huge confidence in cranks and jerkbaits. My goals for this coming year are to catch some decent fish in the dog days of summer, couldn't get nothin but dinks when it was 100+ degrees. I also want to learn to fish deeper water better. I don't have, or plan to be able to afford anything better than my crappy $80 depth finder so I plan to just use it better for finding drops, points, etc etc....then catch a fish on them. As for new techniques...2011 is going to be the year of the C-Rig for me!

2011?
I'll fish when I can and be thankful if I'm still lookin' down at the grass. Buy a few (or more) new baits, maybe replace a couple of reels that are on their last legs, have fun, take the grandkids fishing more often, thank God for a wife that tolerates my expensive hobbies, try to learn the drop shot technique, enjoy every day as if it's my last because it might be.

Caught my PB the beginning of this year, hope to beat it quickly in 2011, 2011 being only the start of my 4th year of fishing (with what little time I actually get to fish with a busy work and home life) - goals this year is to learn STRUCTURE in greater detail - focus on finding the key spot on spots, learn my electronics in greater detail - learn verticle techniques this winter - spoon, jig, ice jig, etc...learn the "float n fly" technique - and finally key in on the swimbait bite this year - have only tried it a couple days on the water half-hearted - this is the year of extremes for me - extremely small and precise presentation, and large and even more precise presentations - all this with the broader goal of catching more of a quota of trophy sized bass this year....of course with only probably about 20-25 actual days on the water likely in 2011, my progress is as such limited....therefore I plan on alo going with a couple guides in my region to pick up on these tactics and hopefully shorten my learning curve...
But in the end, Ill be happy just being out there with a wet line!!!!!!!!!

2011 plans-
Continue to get my young boys interested in fishing.
Buy a small boat, rowboat or jon, so I can get to deeper water in the fall and not have to deal with the depression of not catching any fish when October rolls around.
Spend more time fishing the DE River. I have this fantastic fishery within a 40 minute drive, and only go once or twice a year :'(

Good luck on your goals! It's nice to have the capability to be on the water, but I still fish more from the bank. The canoe is an all-day kinda thing that I manage once a week, twice a week at best. The other days, I'm still making the short drive to one or more of my 11 local lakes and fishing from the bank for a few hours. Score so far this year? 425 fish (all species) from the boat, 733 from the bank...

My goal is simple. I just want to spend more days on the water. The last few years work has really kept me busy and it isn't likely to subside anytime soon. I am spending less days on the water but when I am out there I seem to be catching more quality bass so I am thankful for that. I am also thankful that I have a job and make a good income but I wish I could achieve more of a balance between fishing and working. Also fishing helps me ignore the voices.
