We have done this the past couple years and it's fun to look back and see how close we got.
So, how did you do?
My prediction was
QuoteI'm going with a 7 in '07
I fell 8 oz short. Ironically my PB of 2007 was also the same exact bass I caught in 2006 in nearly the same exact location. (Literally less that 10 yards)
She went 6 lbs in 2006 and 6lbs 8 oz in 2007. I hope to see her again in '08
Notice the growth on the tail
2007
2006
Still looking for my 5 pounder.....got up to 4 in 07......it's gonna come out of Guntersville......I HOPE!!!!
"My goal is to break the Toledo Bend record of 15.32 lbs"
At 12 lbs 8 ozs I was 2 lbs 13 ozs short :
Well, I pretty much choked big time.
I said that mine were goals, not predictions but I was shooting for
5 over 10lb: I got 2 an 11-4 and a 10-0. also had 2 mid 9's
8.5lb smallmouth: WHO THE HELL WAS I KIDDING!?! LOL. Had one around 7lbs come unbuttoned at the boat and missed a fish that would have made my goal.
3.5lb Crappie: Crappie are dumb.
I pretty much sucked this year.
Here is my post.
want a fifteen pounder in '07. I saw a couple on Lake Varner last year during the spawn that I am guessing were around 15lbs and there was a 15lb floater found this past summer so I know they are in the lake. I lost a 15lb 8oz fish a couple years ago only to have a bank fishermen catch it the next day and the only way to get the picture out of my mind of that fish throwing the hook is to catch another one just as big.
Here is my fish 15lbs 12oz.
You're the man Randall!
When I was looking back for my post I saw yours and I was like
" That jerk did it! Da#^!" <--------- that is known as jealousy ;D

Thanks Fourbizz. I had a real good year and lots of things went my way except for the drought closing down Varner at the end of the year. Its going to be hard to top it in 2008.
Spending four days on Lake Fork in April so I'm hoping to get pb over 8 pounds.
Also looking for a 4lb spot and smallmouth on Table Rock this year.
I don't even want to talk about it. >
Not a banner year for me but far better than last year. Since I didn't participate in the prediction thread my 5lber this year exceeded my predictions!
Was hoping to match the previous yr at 8.3 but ended up a little shy. 7.11
The cool thing is that we have yet to meet this fish in yrs past. She had a good chunk missing from her tail and a growth on her left gill plate that identifies her rather easily. I love meeting new girls
My 07 goal was to not die in Iraq. I did that. I'm home now...so mission accomplished lol
My fishing goal was a 10lb bass over leave. I only got to fish once and I caught a few, all together maybe busting 10lbs. Don't think that counts. I'm not really down about that though. At least I caught a few over leave. That helped the morale some.
08 goal...get a new boat and catch something bigger than 8.9lbs (current PB)
I didn't even come close. I think I'm going to be stuck at 6-15 for the rest of my fishing days. I fished more for LMB last season and tied my PB at five pounds even.
So, this year I'm still shooting for that 7+ smallie, and anything over 5 for LMB.
Falcon
My avatar pic is my "hog" of the year, I forgot my scale so I'm gonna give it a conservative estimate at 5lbs, hopefully I'll best that this new year =D
I wasn't around when the prediction thread was made but at the beginning of this year all I wanted to do was break 5 fish for 25 pounds. I did it in 3 hours (4-7pm) in July in a real high pressured lake that I thought it would never happen in. I caught 14 fish between 4-6 pounds with a few over six and countless fish under 4 pounds. I was fishing a 30 yard stretch of 6 docks with a coontail line about 20 feet off the edge of them
Another big accomplishment for me this year that I never expected was the amount of quality fish I caught. From April until mid November I was able to boat 42 Largemouth over the 4 pound mark. Most of which came on a hula grub, jig, or rat-l-trap. It was definatley my best year ever. I can't wait to get going this year though.
2007 is over and through. It's in the past. (in other words, i didnt do so hot) > Not a good fishing year.
As for 2008, I must set the bar high since i didnt get my goal last year (7lb). I am going to go with 9lb 8 oz. because i took a friend fishing and he caught a 9 even. I need to get back on top amongst my friends.
I was not around here last year, but my lifelong goal has been a 10# LMB. I came really close this year with a 9.89 pound postspawner. If only I would have caught her a few weeks earlier. Maybe this year!
I was not around fro the '07 predictions, but here is how I did.
Bought my first bass boat in March, a 17.5 triton.
Entered my first tournament in March.
Weighed in for the first time in April.
Caught my first LMB over 5 in April.
Watched Josh weigh his first tourney fish in June.
Got married ( to a fisherwoman) in July
Caught my first LMB over 10 in July (on my honeymoon).
Caught my first Spotted Bass in July
Cashed my first tourney check in August (big fish 8.31 lbs).
Upsized my boat to a Stratos 201 pro in Sep
Spent Turkey Day vacation with my family catching lots of fish.
Watched Taylor catch her first double, first spotted, first LMB on artificials and finally in DEC she caught a 5.5 lber on a worm that she picked out herself, paid for with her money, rigged, and made a perfect cast on a point, great hookset, and an awesome fight. All I did was net it.
Spent hundreds of hours on the water with my Wife and kids doing something we all love.
Over all an AWESOME year of fishing. Man, I love Florida

Life is good!
Well this should cheer some of you guys up. I wasn't around for the predictions but this year sucked for me as well didn't catch anything over 3 lbs or even anything 3 lbs haha. And my pb is 3 lbs so for all you who didn't get ur 9 or 10 lber well at least you got something good, but 08 is gonna be my year to shine. hahah. gonna break the 3 lb mark hahaha i know the bars not set high but what can i do.
Howdy from South Africa. Well I was here but due to circumstances went quite for a while.
On my side I just wanted to start fishing competitively in 2007 and just see where the year takes me. I joined a club and we started our club tournaments in July of 2007 and at my first comp I walked away with biggest fish 7.42LB and heaviest bag at 13.99LB at a dam that is really hard to fish. The temp was -4 degrees and water temp was 4 degrees. I continued the rest of the year always being in the prizes and are currently in 3rd place. Witch I think is really not bad for my first year and we have some of your countries top anglers in our club. So let's hope I can keep up the pace in 2008. Our season ends May this year
I was hoping to break the 5 pound mark, and I did it over Memorial day weekend with a chunky LM that came in at 5-4.
I don't remember if I made a prediction last year, but my best 07 LM was a hair over 4lbs caught in a pond in NY.
Ronnie
My goal for last year:
"Well looking for a new personal best 5+ lbs. I have been stuck on 4 for to long. It is so sad "
I got it by 1 ounce while at my sister's house with cigarlover as my witness.
I didn't make a prediction but my goal was to get out and fish more and I did that.I also managed to top my pb of 3 .lbs.I caught a 5 lber and a 4.5.Plus a few more 3s and dinks, lol.
Upon looking back, I didn't predict, but set a goal to get out and fish more and possibly catch an 8 or 9 pounder. My second wish was for God to grant me the health and well-being to be able to "go and get 'em". Well the first part of that didn't really happen, but I'm still healthy and able to go after them again this year. There were so many activities in my spring and summer along with lots of rain (kept the pond looking like chocolate milk as well preventing me from driving in there) that I didn't get to go as often. I've now got me a trailer for my jonboat and will be able to take it other places. One place in particular had two 10 pounders taken from it within a few days last year. Regardless of success or not, I'd call 2007 a pretty good year.

Sounds like failure to me.. ;D :
i just noticed this thread today. like a lot of others, i wasn't around here at the beginning of '07 to make any predictions. not sure i would have made predictions if i had been as i am always afraid that i will jinx myself by predicting. my take on it is this.
once again, God blessed me with the health and opportunity to fish a lot. that alone makes for a good year.
i spent some great times fishing with my daughters, neices, and nephew. to see them running around, yelling and smilling showing off 6 oz. bluegill as if they'd broken a world record was priceless. reminds me of why i fish. sometimes i get discouraged when i'm not catchin' a bunch or bangin' the big ones. it's those times that i try to remember the kids and focus on what's really important to me in fishing.
i have a wonderful, sweet wife who understands my need to fish. not once did she complain about me going or ask me to not go.
i had some great times with my fishing buddies out on the water, catchin' or not.
i continued to have good relationships with kind and generous landowners who allowed me to fish some great spots. i try never to take this for granted.
very distantly behind all these things for me were the numbers. i was fortunate enough to catch some good fish in '07. caught 46 bass over 6 pounds. out of those 46, 16 were 6-7 pounds. 19 were 7-8 pounds. 5 were 8-9 pounds. 3 were 9-10 pounds. 3 were over 10 including an 11-4, my best of the year.
i wish y'all a great '08 season and hope y'all catch more and bigger bass than ever before.
