Fishhound 2024

fishing user avatarGlenn reply :

Have you tried Fishhound.com yet?  HAVE YOU?  Why not?  You get FREE baits and fishing gear!  It's awesome!

fishing user avatarBig Jon reply :

I have indeed and I love it. I got the 1 year membership and then one a contest they did on here and got that renewed. I had enough points to get the St. Croix Mojo Bass spinning rod for $24 in shipping. I have also ordered about $50 in lures/baits for about $10 in shipping all together. Almost everything was really good quality. I only had one bait that wasn't so good, but that's why it is product testing. My review reflected that. Fishhound is awesome and I have told everyone I know at work that fishes about them.

fishing user avatarcamovan reply :

Ok here is the question i have. I see you talking about a st croix rod and i go to the website and i see not a single rod or reel available. I have looked at the site many times and hear everyone talk about all the great stuff but i just dont see it there. What am i missing?

I check the site every day. Sometimes multiple times a day. The pro and con, depending on how you look at it is, they constantly get new gear. However, they don't necessarily have a lot of that gear. There was an Abu Garcia Black Max on there one time and I went back a few hours later and they were out already. It just depends. In the case of the St. Croix, I had snapped a spinning rod and was looking for a new one. They put the rod on there and I didn't have the points. The day I got the points necessary it was taken off. I checked it everyday for a week and the moment it was back on the site I was able to order it. People are constantly ordering the new gear put on there, you have to stay on top of what is there. It is constantly changing. It's not somewhere to shop for new gear. It is a place to look at the new gear that is available and try out stuff for cheap. I just got lucky on the rod. I wish I had gotten lucky on the reel as well. They had the St. Croix bait casting rod for a couple days too. Just keep checking it.

fishing user avatarFat Willy reply :

I've been using Fishhound since April or May of this year. I love it. I've ordered tons of bait and lures and other random stuff. I pay monthly. My only gripe is the wait time for my reviews to get processed so I can order more. It would also be nice if I could order more than 4 items at a time. I typically have more/leftover points at the end of the month that I would like to use. I have also noticed in the last month or so that the prices are on an upward trend. Maybe it is just me. I definitely recommend giving them a shot. I believe the first month is only $2.50 right now plus you get like a welcome package right now as well.

I feel like I just reviewed a product on Fishhound...Maybe they'll shoot me some extra points! :eyebrows:

fishing user avatarMissourifishin reply :

I signed up for the year membership, and I have the same gripes as Willy about the time it takes for reviews to get approved and the limit of 4 items at a time. But other then that, I love it. I have a lot of fun shopping for lures. And I'd recommend fishhound to other fisherman.

In the year I've been with Fishhound, I've seen rods from St. Croix, TFO, Halo and some fly rods. Only about 3-4 different reels. Unfortunately they are high ticket items and are short in stock. It's one of those deals where you have to have the points handy and check back every couple of days. It kinda sucks, but I see their point in making them limited.

Right now there is a bunch of nice cranks for grabbing.

That was always my biggest complaint was the amount if product you could get. I'd like to get 10 plus a time. It was explained to me that they limit the amount of product You can get at a time due to people not completing their reviews. When we check out, we agree to complete a review in 30 days. There is really nothing to keep us from getting the stuff and rolling out, never coming out. They also said its to make it fair for people that can only get 1-2 items at a time.

Great feedback guys. Now here's some top secret news not yet made public....

1. The 4 item limit is going away. You can grab as many items that you have points for.

2. Don't have enough points? You'll soon be able to buy points at 60 cents on the dollar.

3. No more 7 day approval time on reviews. We'll likely have all reviews approved within 24 hours!

4. Inventory. I just did a deal that will bring us over 3,000 rods and so much more. We're going to put 5 day timers on it so everyone knows its coming and presents new stuff from going in 10 seconds.

5. Every member will soon receive $100 gift card towed a reel, $75 off a fishing rod and $50 off a pair if sunglasses. And so much more....

We will make a big announcement soon. Hit me up with any questions.

Cheers. Rick

Holy crap! Thanks for the info Rick!

Thanks Rick! That's amazing! I might have to hold my points for a rod now :D

fishing user avatarcamovan reply :

Ok, I think I understand a little better now. I really like the concept and have wanted to try it out fow a while but I just dont have time to check the site many times a week, I think that 5 day timer thing would be great but it will probably be a mad site crashing dash if it is a hot item. Glad to see you guys listening to your customers Fishhound, I will sign up when you make that new announcement official :)

If you have Facebook, they have several of the new product notifications there too.

They have two paid memberships. 10 dollars a month which gives you 25 points per month and a annual membership is 40 dollars and gives you a one time bulk of points of 125.

Ok, so follow me through on this. I got the annual membership. However, though you get only 125 points for $40 for the annual and the monthly membership gives 300 points at $120 a year, wouldn't it be more worth it to renew your annual membership three times a year which is still $120 a year and you get 375 points? I know they are talking about being able to buy points at $.60 on the dollar, but to get 375 points, you're spending $225.

That being said, is it even possible to renew more than once annually?

fishing user avatarrockchalk06 reply :

I don't know if you can renew your annual more then once a year. It's a good question though. I'll call tomorrow and talk with Alberto on it.

The annual is for people that want a lot of points now. It's cheaper and if your going to reviews just a few products, it's a great deal.

The monthly is what I have. I like it so I can get more points. The cost is not an issue as I love the service. The monthly is also a good deal for people that are not 100%!sure they want to commit for a full year. You can cancel anytime if you want to.

This concept sounds interesting. At least to me, it is better than getting random items sent that I am not interested at all. However, I'm not sure how good of the deal it is vs. time you have to spend. Can some of you please give us a quick summary of the amount of membership you paid, deal you got in $ and time you spent to get that?

Also if you are willing to keep writing the reviews, how much of stuff can you potentially get for someone who paid annual membership?

fishing user avatarMO_LMB reply :

If you pay the $40, you get 125 points. There are many was to get points daily, but you are limited to 2 points a day, unless you post videos which give you more. It typically takes me 5 minutes at most a day to get the points. That adds up to about 855 points annually. You also get 2 points for each item you review. You can easily get over 1000 points in a year for like 5 minutes of your time. Figure about 6-10 points per lure or pack of plastics and you are looking at 100-200 lures or packs of plastic a year for a small shipping fee.

In your case, I'd recommend going with the monthly. Click the link in my signature and you get your first month for 5 bucks. It's 10 bucks a month. If you decide you don't want it, you can cancel after the first month. If you don't like it, your only out 5 bucks.

10 bucks a month gets you 25 gear points. Each product has a point value. Choose up to 4 items only pay 4 bucks shipping. I've got around 75 items so far plus a rod. All I paid was shipping and my monthly membership. You can get alot of gear pretty quick. Reviews can be simple or detailed. It's your choice. You get 2 points for each review. If your active on fishing reports and videos its all free points.

The potential to get a lot of quality gear is there.

I honestly glance at the site once a day to see what new stuff they have. I might spend ten minutes. I got the annual membership and used some of that. I won a contest on BR that Fishhound was doing where they renewed my annual membership and gave me the extra 125 points. I had enough points to get a St. Croix Mojo Bass spinning rod. MSRP was like $100 and I paid $24 in shipping/premium member item. It was totally worth it, caught my PB on that rod and a lure that Mystery Tackle Box sent me from a company I have never heard of. I recommend both MTB and Fishhound as they both have their place. One is a surprise, but you get things you may not have heard of that do really well, and you get to test new stuff you get to pick with the other, for very little money.

As far as the reviews go, you get a couple points back from writing reviews. The number of items you get with amount of points you get is dependent on the items themselves. My first couple orders were a bunch of lures and soft plastics. I spent less than $10 in shipping between the two orders and I got nearly $50 in items (MSRP). If you want more points you can do the monthly. If you aren't too sure, I would still say get the annual as it's only $40 and you get enough points to get a bunch of stuff and then just cancel it if it's not your type of program. It does get addicting however, so be careful. If I could afford to pay $20 a month and get 50 points a month, I would totally do that. There is some really nice stuff on here, and I could burn through points pretty quickly.
