Where Does Your Lake Rank? Mine Is..... 2024

fishing user avatarMissouri Bass'N reply :

According to Bassmaster.com Lake of the Ozarks is 30th out of the top 100 in the nation!! Shows you how good the fishing is in Missouri!! Who's home lake can beat that!? :cry3:

I have four lakes near me in the top 100.

fishing user avatarWiscoBassman reply :

I have Lake Winnebago about an hour away from me (ranked 25)

fishing user avatarww2farmer reply :

I live close to some of the lakes on the list, been to Erie several times. Champlain, Oneida, and the 1000 islands area........... haven't made it yet, but they are on the bucket list. Tough to justify the travel when I have several smaller, but productive lakes in my backyard, that suit my style of fishing and are friendlier for the small boat I run. I'll have to rely on wnybassman, and J. Francho to invite me to tag along some day LOL.

fishing user avatarSnakehead Whisperer reply :

I fish the Potomac every week. Number 31 on the list.

fishing user avatarflyfisher reply :

I fish some pretty good lakes but none made the list which is ok. I'd rather avoid the boat traffic being in a kayak and all

fishing user avatarstew6371 reply :

Lake Konowa, Ok is number 29. Just fished a tourney there 2 weeks ago & finished 2nd. I know it has good fish, but never would've guessed it would make this list. Arbuckle Lake, number 56 is a great bass lake. Had my best day there. Caught my PB twice in the same tournament.

fishing user avatartbone1993 reply :

Lake Michigan in 34th. Not even a five minute card ride for me. The $25 launch fee is absurd though.

fishing user avatard3bf48 reply :

nope, none of the N. Wis lakes made it... fishings not that good up here anyway

fishing user avatarmoguy1973 reply :

The only thing that keeps Lake of the Ozarks from being a better fishery than it is, is all the hoopla stupid drunken nonsense that happens every summer weekend there. Take away the 50' cigar boats and ocean yachts and its a top notch bass lake.

fishing user avatarMissouri Bass'N reply :

I totally agree, they have some stupid Harbour hop and you cant even run your bass boat on the lake!!

fishing user avatarSPEEDBEAD. reply :

Perfectly content that my local lakes are not anywhere on that list. ;)

A can assure you that Noel's spots are better than mine, lol.  But we'll do it sometime.

We have a cabin near lake 62 (I think the only indiana lake on the list) have gone up since we were 9....the private lake we live on here though is a lot better...

fishing user avatarzip pow reply :

Guntetsville #3 I think Ten minutes from my house to nearest ramp

fishing user avatarjbo225 reply :

mines not on the list but no skin off my back still catch lunkers all day

fishing user avatarMARSH MASTER reply :

louisiana delta is ranked 27

fishing user avatarroadwarrior reply :

#3  Guntersville

#12  Pickwick

#16  Kentucky Lkae

#28  Quachita

#51  Bull Shoals

fishing user avatarRoachDad reply :

I wonder how old that list is.  I am surprised that High Rock in NC is that high.  It used to be an awesome bass lake but I think it is down the last few years.

But I don't know that for a fact.

fishing user avatarjoetomlee reply :

#13 Oneida Lake is a 10 minute drive!

fishing user avatarKevO reply :

Lets see I can fish, KY Lake and Barkley in about an hr and a half, I can be to Chickamauga, Guntersville, or Pickwick in about 2 hr, and I can fish Dale Hollow in little over 2 hr.  I think Tennessee wins!

fishing user avatarMissouri Bass'N reply :

Tough to beat that!!

fishing user avatarFish Chris reply :

The Ca Delta #8 > I live literally on the edge of it, yet I "never" fish it for Largemouth's. The big ones are just too scattered throughout so much water. SOO many 5-8's, and yet anything over 10 lbs is SO rare. Why would I fish for 5-8 lb bass here, when I can go try for a 200+ lb Sturgeon (on the micro-light ;))

Clear Lk. CA. #10 > Again, TONS of 4-8's...... but probably even fewer legit double digit bass per acre, than the CA Delta. Anything but, a true trophy bass lake.

These ^ are the places where the crowds go, to run around in their high per bass boats at 70mph, and maybe get a good number of 4-8 lb fish. But if a guy wants BIG fish, he needs to get away from all that madness, and go somewhere with fewer bass fishermen, hatchery trout, and fewer but "larger" bass ;)

Fish

PS, To be honest, their were very few places on that entire list that would really interest me for bass.

fishing user avatarGoTakeANap reply :

#23 Santee Cooper Lakes in SC is 20 mins away from me.

#90 Lake Murray, SC is 35 mins away. I fish both of them all the time.

fishing user avatarwhitwolf reply :

My home lake Is not on that list and never will be. lol

As an aside, good to see you around gotakeanap...Where ya been?

fishing user avatarGoTakeANap reply :

Been really busy with work, and me and my wife just had a baby boy on march 6th. Been helping out around the house the past few months and doing whatever she needed done. Don't wanna be in the dog house and not be able to fish when I do get the chance. Haha im sure you understand. How have you been?

Congrats. on the new addition to the gotakeanap family!

I urge you to take unlimited time with all your kiddo's as the time flies and before you know it they will be grown. In August I will officially be an emptynester and It really sucks.

Overall I've been good and with the delayed Spring finally here It's time to fish more than once a week. :)

fishing user avatarBluebasser86 reply :

3 lakes from Kansas on that list, none of them should be though. Our best big lake for bass, imo, is not on that list and I'm glad it's not.
