Yesterday I was throwing a black Booyah Clacker Buzzbait along the edge of the weeds going along the bank. About half way through one of my casts I was sorta day dreaming just looking out around the lake not really paying attention to what I was doing and it got absolutely crushed. It hit so hard that it seemed like my heart skipped a beat cause I wasn't paying attention and it knocked the rod out of my hands. I ended up grabbing the front cork with my right hand before it hit the ground and tried to set the hook but no one was home of course. I ended up catching about 15 on the buzzbait in the 2# range but nothing was even close to that one huge hit. Either it was a massive fish or maybe the fish came from the other way at it hauling *** at top speed and hit it. Regardless of what it was I was so upset with my self and that's all I could think about for the rest of the day. Just a few days earlier I had the same thing happen while fishing a frog not paying attention while on the pause and a huge one launched it self out of the water at it and I totally missed it because I was not paying attention to what I was doing.

Man I hate that. It happens to me when I fish after work. For some reason my mind starts to zone out of fishing and back onto work related issues. It kills me, because I go fishing to forget about work...LOL
Sorry to hear you missed that one, sounds like you had an oinker for sure.

Bro- you need some 5 Hour Energy when you get to the ramp to keep you focused! I hear ya about being frustrated and thinking about it the rest of the day. The ones you miss when you should have got em stick with you.

I've had that happen when not paying attention to how much slack I've had in my line. Go to set the hook and nothing is there!

That happens to me on slow days all the time I forget what a hit feels like and I go blank when I feel a strike then kick my self in the arse for not setting the hook

Gosh...Too many times to recall just one! Most recently a massive hit on a ten inch worm. The one I didn't miss measured out to 18 inches.

I can say with full honesty that you in fact need Adderall, not an energy drink. That stuff is like speed.

I dont really get that a lot, I don't fish a lot outside of the one lake I go to (I work at that dock) because I cant, and that lake is harsh. We've gone through many lures, but none have caught us many fish, the only thing that really works is a live, smallish bluegill caught at the lake. And most of the fishing we do there is sight fishing (you'd understand why If you saw the lake) or sometimes we'll spot something getting hit and pitch the sunny over to that spot (that's how I caught a nice three pounder today), so it's only really a matter of the hook not getting in the fishes mouth, which I imagine is just as bad as missing a hit, like on friday when I had an 8 pounder right in front of me that swallowed the fish and fought with me, only to let go. I hate that

My friend swears by Adderall when he really needs to focus on something. He said it's insane the amount of work you can get done on it because it just makes you focus for hours.

If it would of been just a normal bite I'm sure I would of caught it. But since I wasn't really watching my bait when it happened and it hitting so hard the rod literally popped out of my hand for a second. I have never had a fish knock a rod out of my hand before like that. Also adderoll is just like legal amphetamines for a person who doesn't need to take it.

Every so often you're going to miss a fish. Oh well. One of the reasons I go fishing is so that I can kind of space out and let my thoughts wander. I don't get that upset about missing a fish.

Had something similiar happen to me fishing a shallow crank along the bank and not paying attention and a huge fish shoots out to grab it and wasn't paying attention. The fish actually scared me cause it jumped out right as I was bringing the lure outta the water. I missed the hookset but it made for good jokes the rest of the day by my brother

Anyone who bass fishes will experience laps of concentration that cost lost opportunities. We remember the big ones that got away more vividly than the bass we catch and the lost bass get bigger with time.

I'll never forget the biggest bite that I "missed". I was fishing a Moss Boss. I was standing on the pond dam and it was three or four feet higher than the water level. The fish hit just as I was getting ready to take the lure out of the water so I only had a few feet of line out and the line was taut. Fish took it and broke the line is about a half a second. The swirl was massive!!!
I think I was like 12 or 13.

It was easily the hardest bite I have had all year. That's one reason I have not fished as much this year with soft plastics or any thing that is not constantly moving. I like getting good hits as much as just catching the fish.

I've had about a 12 pounder spit it right at the bank. That was pretty bad. It messed me up and I didn't catch anything for the rest of the day.

Two days ago I had a five pounder just about rip my rod out of my hand when he inhaled the little 6 inch dink that I had hooked on a curly tail grub. Ripped the poor little guy right off my line without getting hooked. Happened right in front of me in about 18 inches of water. It was one of those "No way that just happened" moments.

That’s exactly what we need a bunch of people running around in high performance bass boats high on Adderall!
Why don’t y’all just learn to consecrate, catch that big bass, then the Adrenalin will kick in & you will feel better than any drug!

You obviously don't have ADD. I have it bad and need my Adderall if I have a big test or the like. I very much need it. The amount of work you can do IS insane. Like clean the whole house in ten minutes insane.

I can do so much work on adderall. I could probably build a go-kart from random things in my house in 30 minutes. I take it for important tests, school work, etc. Also when I play COD.... lol

Any catfish where you were fishing? I've caught a few on a buzzbait and they absolutly crush it! My friend caught one night fishing one night that was probably 8 or 9 pounds and the hit was so loud I thought he fell in the pond.
I missed one on a spinnerbait in Mexico that was over 10. I don't want to guess how big it was because it was a few years ago and they get bigger over time but I was shaken so bad I had to sit down. I was pulling my bait past a tree and a bug bit the crap out of leg so I stopped to swat it and when my bait slow rolled down she about jerked the rod out of my hand. Had her just long enough to see her.

I couldn't set my drag it was clamped one of those big ones you thought it was a snag but was actually a fish. Tugged harder than anything I ever fished in my life. I wanted to know what it was whether it was a big bass or a catfish. I almost made it surface it did a tail whip right below the surface and stirred up a large amount of water. Then it ducked and darted under my boat and my line snapped. I have a nick name for it "Brutus" the brute because of how strong a fight it put up. Every time I go to the lake I wonder if I'm going to ever catch it. Probably never will. Have a good one.

Yea there is cat fish for sure. I have caught multiple 10 pounders out of that pond and my brother caught one that was 20 or better. I can't imagine what a bite from a 20 pound cat fish would be like but I caught a 10 pounder on a Rat-L-Trap and it demolished my lure and ripped out the front treble it hit so hard. The rest I have caught on the pause so the bites don't even compare to when you have a fast moving bait with a tight line.

Too true, man, too true. It happens to all of us. I can't say how many times I've been distracted and missed one. Too may to count, I know. Might have been a deer coming down to the water. May have been a dear in a bikini.
One thing I take away from the experience is the thought that now I know where a big one spends at least some of her time. You can bet I'll be back there during similar conditions.

I sprained my wrist on a HAWG in the JUNK on the Big O last year. I was using 65lb braid on a hvy action All Star Big Boy rod when he hit about 40 yards away, knocked me out of commission for 3 weeks to a month.

That would of had to been one serious bite. Or maybe your just a limp wrist lol. I am just kidding though im sure your no wuss. That's one of the reason though I have really tried to step my game up using things like spinners and cranks I just love getting bites where they just smash the bait. It is more exciting to me then a little tiny tap tap on a jig or piece of plastic. Although I absolutely love jig fishing I consider it to be a highly skill full technique.
