i've never used one...but the bait monkey says i should have a few just in case i want to.
what is your favorite?
what weight works best for you?
i've got yamamoto Kut tails, trick worms and finesse worms so i think i've got the plastics...just not the shaky heads... open to plastics suggestions too..
thanks..
I love Dozers shakey heads. The keeper screw swivels so its easy to screw on creature/craws.

8-)
spot removers. someone has a jig head where the hook swivels separately from the actual weight. i wanna try those but haven't yet. seems like a better chance of buttoning up with em

Arkie "U-Bolt"
I have a few, but haven't tried them yet. I've been using the Gambler "Giggy Head" instead.
spot removers reasonably priced and seem to work just fine for me.
thanks stasher, if you can remember, try and keep us posted on your success, or lack thereof, with those. i wonder if they hinder the "stand -up" action the shakey head is known for?
Arkie U-Bolt in the 1/8 oz.
I like to use spot removers. Use the lightest weight you can get away with, so buy a few different weights. Robo worms are my favorite, but hula grubs work well also.

If you use a floating worm, like Berkley's "Power Shaky Worm", it shouldn't be a problem at all.
Was using the Spot Removers for a long time, Until I got my hands on some of the Moaner Hooks "Stiffy" jigs. Quality is all that and then some, plus way better pricing, incredible customer service, and super fast shipping.

By the way... there isn't much better one one of these, than a Rage Tail Thumper or Craw!
it looks like the megastrike has a better design to ALWAYS stand up.
seems like once in hits bottom the others will fall over?? :-/
i'm thinkin' the Lake Fork hyper worm would work good too??
Owner Ultra Head - 1/16 usually, 1/8 once in a while.
I'm partial to the original ShakE2 jig head. I know most prefer the coil lock to the barb holder, but I don't. Here's why.
My most productive bait has been the Strike King 4" finesse worm in coppertreuse color. The problem that what makes them darn near indestructible also makes them impossible to put on the barb. I doubt they'd go on the coil holder either since they cannot be put onto the Owner twistlock hooks with the centering pin.
I melt a hole into the end of the SK finesse worms with a heated safety pin. It can then be installed on the barb, but it has the maddening tendency to slip off on the cast from time to time.
When I finally wised up and put a drop of super glue on the barb, that cured the problem, permanently. The worm stays on there until I lose the rig. Have caught over thirty bass and a few pickerel on the same worm before losing it to a rocky bottom.
No matter that the worm is totally scuffed due to the raspy mouths of bass and the toothy mouths of pickerel. The old, dull worm produces the same as it did when new.
I'm glad the original is still available.
Owner Shaky Ultrahead, 3/32 oz.
Tru-Tungsten Ikey Head Ball Busters are my favorite. Spot Removers are my second choice.
Another vote for Spot removers. 1/8, 3/16, or 1/4 oz depending on the fish and wind. I use a Zoom Trickworm or finesse worm most of the time. Any color as long as it it is green/red or junebug. 8-) Good luck.
I fished about five hours this afternoon/evening, and the shakyhead was the only bait that produced. It is a good arrow to have in the quiver.
It is really neat how many different jig heads we all use.
those megastrike ones look amazing.
Quotethose megastrike ones look amazing.
I think they look pretty goofy, but from what I've heard, they really work. I need to try them.
QuoteTru-Tungsten Ikey Head Ball Busters are my favorite. Spot Removers are my second choice.
I use the TT as well. I like the tungsten head on them, great feel.
I tend to drag the jighead in addition to "shaking" it. I like to had the added feel of the tungsten.
Another vote for spot removers in 1/8, 3/16 oz. I favor the spring coil over the barb, but will start using super glue for the many barbed spot removers I have sitting my the box...thanks for the tip Rhino.
I switched from Chompers 1/4 oz to Megastrike 1/8 oz and my catch rate has nearly tripled. I believe it is because the jig always stands the bait up properly.
I have tried many others--spot removers, Picasso, etc. and to date, nothing compares to the Megastrike jig.
I like the TT heads, as well as the Secret Lures and Omega. I can't get the Omega in 1/16th anymore and that's a bit of a dislike for me.
When it comes to fishing the 3X or Elaztech Strike King, I really like their shakey head for it. Dunno what it is, or why it is, but my hook-up ratio with the Elaztech is terrible on any other jig.
Strike King's shaky head has the little barb just under the jig head that is specifically designed to hold on the elaztech baits.
Btw i prefer these. lol
spot removers.
i have been using luck e strikes 1/16oz football heads with success. they also dont tend to get wedged in rock gaps and such. not to mention i got numerous packs of them on clearance.
im kind of mixed on the spring or barbed collar. some baits go on the spring easy , while the slimmer ones dont center right. its not really an issue since the fish dont seem to mind , but it doesnt look that great lol.
Spot Removers are one of my favorites, but I wouldn't call them a shaky head. More like a stand up jig. For real shaky heads, I like Bagleys.
I like the Megastrike jigheads with the barb for deeper, standard shaky head presentations, but the bargain-bin Bagleys jigheads in 1/16 oz have produced for me better than any other. Use a couple drops of glue on it to hold the bait in place, and you have a fine skipping bait thats deadly around docks.
I shakey head fish a lot and have used at least ten different brands of jig heads. I find that I prefer certain traits as much as any one brand. I have to have that screw lock, and I like the smaller ones the best. The smaller screw locks seem to work the best with my roboworms. I also tend to steer towards the football shaped heads and away from the ball heads. I just don't think the ball heads stand up as well on the bottom. I can make do with any brand that sports these traits, but I am buying megastrike in 3/16 if i get my way.
1/8 oz spot removers have put me in the money alot, with zoom finesse worms. Make sure you get the pro style, with the screw in wire, not the other ones.
Are these megastrike shakey head jigs good for heavy weeds? Want to test it for that but don't want to pull in weeds every cast?
QuoteAre these megastrike shakey head jigs good for heavy weeds? Want to test it for that but don't want to pull in weeds every cast?
I haven't had good luck with them in weeds, no. They hang a lot more than a football or ball head.
On another note, I fished the Owner Shakey head this weekend, and really like the way it fishes with a smaller worm. I had a really good hook-up rate with that head, as good or better than my usual head.
Picasso all the way!

I wasn't in what I'd call super heavy weeds, but there was some salad and the Owner head worked just fine. Minimal hangups through the day.

Thanks buddy.
Picasso and Bite-Me.
I like the Gambler giggy heads and the TT Ball busters.
spot removers work well
