Wanted to see what everyone uses. I use War Eagle cause the skirts are hand tied with wire and not the cheap rubber band that dry rots.
Anybody else use some awesome spinnerbaits?
I have a few clear water war eagle spinnerbaits and I just love them. Otherwise I use lots of SK bleeding bait chart ones
I have 3 spinnerbaits models which I use
1 - Megastrike Strikeback 1/2oz Chartreuse/White. My all purpose spinnerbait. Usually the one I start the day with on "good spinnerbait" mornings.
2 - War Eagle finesse spinnerbaits. a clear/white skirt and a translucent chartreuse/white skirt I custom made.
3 - Strike King painted blade series. Ch/White, White and all all chartreuse
1/2 oz Black Megastrike strikeback
1/2oz X-factor Blue gill
1/2oz Strike King Red Eye Shad White
1/2oz Northland Reed Runner Chart/White
I mostly use Terminators or War Eagle. Now that War Eagle is selling their skirts separately, you can put the cool War Eagle colors on lots of different brands of spinner baits.
Not real big on spinner baits, but I mainly use Strike King KVD spinner baits, War Eagle and most recently North Star spinner baits. Also want to try Seibert spinner baits.
war eagle spot remover and it is killer on spots.
I have a couple that I really use
3/8 and 1/2 booyah chartreuse shad and cortez shad with tandem blades
3/8 booyah super shad, its the one with 4 blades
3/8 stanley wedge in the gold-ish color with tandem or willows

Didn't know siebert made spinnerbaits, that bluegill skirt on their site looks AWESOME!
I just picked up my first baitcast reel and intend to throw spinnerbaits once I get a rod paired with it.
Will deffinately be picking up a few of these.
Revenge

Can you elaborate on good spinnerbait mornings? Im using spinnerbaits more and more but all im catching is pickerel LOL
Booyah spinnerbait, tandem blades, one willow one colorado, one silver one gold. White skirt. My most productive lure to date.
I use 2 types of Spinnerbaits
1. Booyah Hot Wire - Any color
2. Northland Reed Runner - Black
It really dosen't matter the weight.
It's weird how my favorite spinner bait really isn't very sturdy. The skirts fall off or break apart after a few uses. The wire bends after a big fish and is hard to straighten. And the blades come off the swivels/split rings, or the split rings break. But do they catch fish. It's manufactured by a well-known company so I won't name it. I bought a bunch over the years when I see them on sale. Lots of times I find them for a couple dollars in closeout aisles. Because of the previously mentioned problems, I won't pay $6 for them. The light wire lets the blades really thump. I prefer all gold blades with white/blue/chartruese skirts.

I started making them not too long ago. I got tired of throwing spinnerbaits I did not like or that fell apart so I started building them again how I wanted them.
Try the strikebacks by Megastrike -Ya dont like it -I'll buy them back. Got some new colors in too.. www.megastrike.com
I use the strike king premier plus almost exclusively in the 3/8- 1/2 oz range. It's good and sturdy so I like to bang it off stumps and such

What clear water colors do you use from war eagle?
Megastrike Strikeback spinnerbait with a Strike King KVD Perfect Plastic Blade Minnow trailer
Accounted for this one yesterday
I use whatever . As long as it has a good swivel, I am not picky .
I almost exclusively use Terminator spinnerbaits because the frame is made of titanium. It doesn't bend or kink when pike smash it. And there are A LOT of pike around these parts.
I used to use steel frame ones but realized that after a couple of pike hits, they weren't running correctly in the water because they were all bent up. The Terminator series cost more but they last a lot longer too.
I assemble my own. Double gold Colorado with great ball bearing costs about $3.50. I am cheap and I know what I want.
Mann's Hank Parker Special (No Longer Sold Under that name just "Classic" now) I caught a ton of fish on those things. Still have a couple after 20+ years.

i've gotten even cheaper, i'm buying unpainted now i realized that baits that look good in photos, and baits that i can catch fish on are 2 seperate things
Use a brand that I don't think they make anymore Hart. These are some great running spinner baits. I also use Mr Hootie which is a local made bait.
H&H lures 3/8 chartreuse and White
I like the northland reed runner 1/2 oz., they are almost indestructible. The mann's classic gives alot of vibration. Both are closed loop, never had one break.
I see a lot of people recommending the strike backs.
Do they truly have a better hook up ratio and that's where the recommendation comes from, and/or is it because of the added action the jointed section gives to your trailer?

I've been taking fish with the Megastrike Strikeback spinnerbait now for going on 3 seasons; mostly smallmouth and the occasional oversized pike.
Can't say if the hook up ratio is truly 'better' than traditional baits or not.
But I can tell you that I do fish a couple of other brands of spinnerbaits.
The Strikeback is the only one I never use or feel the need to add a trailer hook as I rarely miss or lose fish with it tied on.
YMMV

I pour a lot of my baits and try to copy good baits of the past . The Bakemore C.C. spinner with the big copper Colorado blade is my favorite all time spinnerbait . One that I plan on making soon is the 1/4 ounce Fleck Weed Waders with Indiana blades . I wish I had one to get the wire lengths and blade sizes correct .
My box has a mix of Revenge, Peppers and War Eagle with some custom painted Flashover Baits thrown in.
Mr. Pike really likes to bend up spinner baits. That's why I only use Terminator Titanium spinner baits. Anything less is gonna look like a bread tie after he's done with it.
Terminator Titanium. Last for years and never have to screw with the wire. I use Picasso Colorado blades on them and change the skirts around.
I have really been doing well this summer on the 3/4 ounce single Colorado bladed spinnerbaits from Phenix Baits. They have been running a lot of specials so you might want to check Phenixbaits.com
Dumb question probably, but do you prefer mono or floro using spinnerbaits?

Nylon
Been a War Eagle fan forever,Quality for sure.Want to to try some Termanators.Heard good things about them too.
I have a box full, but I have three that I've had good luck with. There's many more I have not even tried.
#1) SK KVD Willow/Colorado 3/8oz in the Chartreuse Sexy Shad color. I've caught bass with this in clear water and clouded water, including my PB 20" smallie.
#2) SK KVD Willow/Willow 1/2oz in the Chrome Sexy Shad color.
#3) A 3/8oz 4 willow bladed, chartreuse colored Booyah, I think it's called the Super Shad.
War Eagle is basically what I've settled on. A few Revenge as well. Strangely enough though I did not like the war eagle buzzbaits. I thought I could keep things simple and stick with one brand for both but I'll have to stick with Cavitrons for that.
